40 Days, One Love

40 Days, One Love
Time Travel

During college Yua Winarto, the girl who will be 24 years old was never serious, not good at socializing, did not have friends until finally she was labeled as a butterfly student, college home - college home.

It's usually a day just lazing around. Occasionally see a stock watchlist from his phone. Not good at cooking and taking care of the house. The good thing about him is that only he knows it.

The father's wealth made Yua complacent and thought it would be easy to continue his father's business. His father, Joe Winarto, was a wealthy and super-busy property magnate at the age of 45. For Yua, her father was a very rigid figure and a workaholic. Every day go before sunrise and go home after sunset.

There are things that Yua wants to say, but some days Mr. Joe looks very busy. Tomorrow is his graduation day. He did not expect his father to attend his graduation. His experience when High School made him think like that. As a formality, he had to keep telling his father.

A few moments wait, finally Mr. Joe came home.

"Well, tomorrow I graduate, if you're busy it's okay" said Yua.

"Well, boy! Anyway I want to see you wearing toga. In addition, when you graduated from high school, you did not have time to come" said Mr. Joe.

Not to be disappointed Yua just considers the wind and then the father's words without really expecting his arrival.

...***...

Since morning Yua has been busy berias and assisted by Make-Up Artist he rented. With eyes that are still sleepy do not feel it is 06.00 hours.

"Let's hurry." said Yua to himself while hastily looking for cellphones, bags and other items. He had to leave for the campus auditorium immediately because the ceremony would start at 07:00.

When he went down the stairs he was surprised to see Mr. Joe who was neat wearing a black suit and a red tie matching with the kebaya he was wearing.

Yua looked happy, this time the father had really kept his promise. But he tried his best to hide his happy face.

Yua then rushed down the stairs and approached Mr. Joe.

...***...

"Well, don't be disappointed." Pinta Yua.

"Why indeed?" ask Mr. Joe.

With a smile he told that he graduated with a mediocre predicate and a mediocre GPA. Mr. Joe just laughed and advised his daughter that he had nothing to worry about.

"There's a lot of smart people out there but he's become corrupt, otherwise there's stupid people out there but he pays smart people in his company" advice Mr. Joe while patting his son's head.

...***...

The graduation ceremony took place solemnly until the event was completed. When he was about to go home, Yua and Mr. Joe were approached by a young man who brought a bucket of flowers. The young man was Arga Tan, 29, who was none other than International Economic Lecturer Yua and his fiancee.

"Congratulations Yua." said Arga while giving the flower bucket. He also did not forget to say hello to Joe.

"Congratulations Om" said Arga.

Only Mr. Joe replied to Arga's words and greeting. That's because Yua doesn't like Arga very much. Arga is one of the causes of the disturbance between Yua and Mr. Joe.

Four years ago Mr. Joe planned the engagement of Yua and Arga. Yua felt it was a political engagement and she felt that Arga was forced to become her fiance because he had to help the Arga family's financial company that was slumped.

"Father if you want to talk to Daddy please, I go home first by taxi Online" said Yua tightly while running away from them. Again Arga must be disappointed can not please Yua.

After Yua leaves, Mr. Joe and Arga go to a cafe while buying Yua's favorite cake.

...***...

"Om. sorry I destroyed the moment Om same Yua" said Mr. Arga.

Not wanting Arga to feel guilty, Mr. Joe reminded that Yua is a typical Tsundere girl (shy/looking hard but actually fragile).

"It should be the one who apologizes, his nature never changes. He even left Om with you easily" said Mr. Joe, laughing at Yua's behavior. He asks Arga to be more patient and understand Yua who does not like the crowd.

"Arga, Om titip Yua. He is an adult but his attitude is still like a child, it is your turn to look after him ", said Arga. Arga promises that he will take care of Yua.

...***...

Week pass. Yua is like any other day. Lounging on the mattress while staring at the phone. There was nothing he really wanted to do.

A phone call from an unknown number goes to his phone. Yua was shocked when she heard who contacted her. It was a call from the hospital. Mr. Joe had a single accident on the Toll Road. Yua's hand immediately became limp and accidentally dropped the phone until it was damaged.

After arriving at the hospital, Yua saw a sight she did not want to see. Mr. Joe's body is out of the ER. Yua shouted as if in disbelief. Arga hugged her and calmed her down even though Yua kept hitting her shoulder.

...***...

Fortunately, the entire funeral process was handled by Arga. Yua kept herself locked up in the room. In the room Yua imagined how she would live alone. The lack of knowledge, skills and relationships makes Yua realize that she can't do anything without her father. Until he realized he could not live alone, he also needed the help of others in his life. Moreover, he must continue the company of his father.

In order to take off her longing to her father, Yua took a stack of photo albums from her father's room. Page after page he looked with teary eyes while stopping at each of those moments. Sometimes he laughs and murmurs to himself.

I don't feel like five hours have passed. Yua finds a letter tucked away in the last album she saw. It was a letter from Mr. Joe to him in 2000 when he was 3rd birthday.

With trembling hands he slowly read the contents of the letter.

"My Dear Yu...

Happy third birthday. Just yesterday it felt like I was holding you now my daughter is grown.

It may be too soon to hope, but I expect you to grow up healthy into a beautiful, successful woman.

One day you will be taken from the father, then become a graceful bride, a wife loyal to the husband and a warm mother to her children.

Keep Living! Dad is always by your side.

with love, Dad "

Unknowingly the cry of Yua broke out. He did not expect the father who was cool and cold turned out to love him very much. Yua regretted all her attitude towards the father that always made her difficult and different from her expectations. The letter was wet with tears.

Unable to hold back the crying arrived time seemed to stop. The atmosphere became quiet. Feeling something strange he also realized the tears that should befall the letter also appeared to float in the air.

The next oddity is the sound of the clock ticking that the longer the faster it breaks the silence. Yua tried to get up from her seat. Not a single step had he moved, his body seemed interested in something invisible.

The pull made her whole body feel pain. Sweat flooded his body. Unable to endure the pain, Yua finally unconscious.

...***...

After a long time unconscious Yua was aware. Seeing the unfamiliar roof and the atmosphere where he was in was very different from his home made him close his eyes again.

Yet......

"Cbbrrrrr "sounds like a boy playing his lips.

The boy's saliva accidentally landed on Yua's face. Her saliva was very sticky and disgusting making Yua scream hysterically.

"twante udwah bangwun" said the boy.

Looking at Yua who kept on shouting, A boy took the boy and brought him closer to Yua.

The boy's disgust makes Yua faint again.

Sorepun. A man entered the old house. That man was the father of the little girl who had just returned home.

Finding Yua who was asleep made the Man surprised. A letter in Yua's hand caught her attention. The man then took the letter that Yua was holding.

Thank you for stopping by and reading my first work️.

I realized my work was far from perfect, I still had a lot to learn. At the beginning of this chapter may feel very stiff, so please understand ya😊.

I will also revise small chapters that are already in UP, so I hope someday my work can be reread but with more flowing words and not rigid.

Happy reading👋.
