Chapter 3. Cunning Uncle Somar

The sound of friction on the frying pan was heard making Uncle Somar who was in the room silent for a moment and then stepped out of the room. He slowly stepped his feet and peeked at Lilis, his niece who seemed to be busy in the kitchen.

"Why do you think about Lilis?"

The sentence of the question then made Lilis gasp in shock. He turned his head and smiled at his Uncle who was approaching Lilis.

"Make Uncle's red sugar cake."

"Red sugar cake?"

"Yes, Lilis likes to eat brown sugar cakes."

Uncle Somar nodded then looked at the fry that was on the tau bowl away from the frying pan.

"Many make it too."

"Yes, for Arul's kang."

"Aarul's? Who's that?"

"Kang Arul is Lilis's best friend."

"Friend?"

"Yes, Uncle."

"Male?"

"Yes, women's time. His name is a man" said Lilis, then he finally set foot with a plate of red sugar cake in his hand. Lilis stepped down and down the steps and walked to make Uncle Somar follow behind.

Uncle Somar stood at the door staring at Lilis who was apparently the house of the man who was a friend of the nephew was not far from his house which was right next to his brother's long-dead house.

"Kang Arul! Assalamualaikum," he said until a male figure stepped out of the house.

"Oh, apparently it's a man named Arul. I look around he seems to be harboring a taste to Lilis. This cannot be allowed," his mind as he stroked the fine hairs on his chin.

He smiled and stepped inside the house.

...<•••>...

Lilis put a plate of vegetable stir-fry kale on the table making uncle Somar's eyes so sparkling.

"Well, just smelling it was rumbling. It must taste really good."

Hearing that made Lilly laugh.

"Tried first Uncle just said good!"

"Ah, if the cooked Lilis must be delicious," he said.

Now a minute passed, everyone was busy eating dinner and all that was heard was the sound of chewing and the clinking of spoons and glasses.

"Oh yes Uncle plans to leave for the city in two days. Uncle asked me again. Don't you really want to go to town?"

Lilis gulped down a glass of water then placed it on the board and replied, "No Uncle. Lilis had thought carefully. Lilis wants to just stay in the village and take care of Mom."

"Ah, try to think again! In the city, you can work and you can get money and then you can save money and take Maria to the hospital."

"He city must be very sophisticated service. Maria will be cured soon."

"Jes tell the neighbors to take care of it. You want to, right?"

Lilis stared silently at her mother for a moment and then turned back to look at Uncle Somar who was still looking at her with a very serious and hopeful look.

"It seems that it can't. Lilis just wants to be here with Mom" she declined.

Hearing that made Uncle Somar exhale deeply, it seemed very difficult to persuade Lilis to go to the city with him.

A second later the eyes of Uncle Somar became sharp. All the obstacles are only one, the wife of his brother, and it seems that this barrier must be removed so as not to interfere.

...<•••>...

The sound of crickets can be heard decorating the night as well as the sound of dogs that sound unpretentious decorate the silence of the night. The stars in this village are seen so much adorning the sky accompanying the moon is so bright up there.

Lilis fell asleep on the bed so perfectly. Today there is so much work that he has done.

The footsteps managed to make the board he stepped on it sound a little crisp. His footsteps were made very slowly trying not to produce even the slightest sound. Yes, he is Uncle Somar, brother of Lilis.

He walked quietly and then he approached the figure of Mary who appeared to be lying there. Slowly and carefully he took out a black bottle and poured the black water into the glass of water that Mary always used to drink.

Uncle Somar smiled so very evilly. The corner of his lips lifted until the figure of his true nature was seen.

"Mary, Mary. I will never let a barrier figure live in this world."

"If you become a hindrance it means you must be eliminated. I'm sorry your sister-in-law but I have to get rid of everything because I need money now."

Uncle Somar chuckled and was so very cunning that he quickly got up and stepped into the room.

Uncle Somar who was just about to lay his head on the bed restrained when he heard the sound of a call from outside made Uncle Somar slowly roll his eyes.

"Lilases! Lilies! Lilys!" his yell.

There's no answer.

"Well, Lilis! I want a drink!" besought.

"Yes, Mom."

The voice was heard until finally Lilis woke up also from her sleep. Lilis stepped towards Maria and sat down beside her with her face looking still sleepy.

"What's up, Mom?"

"Haus," he said.

Hearing this made Uncle Somar run over to the door and peek silently at Maria and Lilis. I think he's so happy. Especially when he saw the figure of Lilis who had drunk a glass of water to Maria.

"Will you, Mom?" her question made Maria shake her head.

"Yes, then, Lilis went to bed again, ma'am."

Maria nodded making Lilis get up and step inside her room.

"The plan worked" whispered uncle Somar so very happy.

He laid his body on the bed with a smile that adorned his face. Now the only thing he is waiting for is the death of his brother-in-law and after the death of his brother-in-law he will get as much money from the man as he can.
