Chapter 6. Departure to the City

...<•••>...

It feels very happy to have a friend like Arul kang who is always there when he needs it. There have been many things made by the man and until anytime Lilis will never forget the figure of Arul kang even though he will later go to the city.

"Kang Arul, Lilis wants to say something," said Lilis when Kang Arul was busy giving grass to Lilis' goats.

"What's Lilis?"

"Tomorrow Lilis is going to town."

Both eyes of Arul kang rounded. He turned his head to look at Lilis who looked so serious that not long after the sound of laughter was heard. Ya kang Arul laughed back and forth while hitting his knee.

"To town? There's just this you, Lis."

"Rubber, Kang. Lilis wants to go to town with Uncle Somar. Lilis will work at the restaurant."

Kang Arul was still laughing. He shook his head then took out the grass from a sack again.

"Don't joke, do it! Your mother, just died when you have to leave, after all you set foot into the city never let alone want to work there. Lilis, Lilis. There's-there's this you," he explained making Lilis can only be silent.

...<•••>...

Lilis put some clothes into her black bag, the size was not too big and enough to accommodate some of the clothes she would wear upon arrival in the city. The plan is that Lilis will only live in the city how many months after she has a lot of money, her intention is that she will return to this village.

Although he will live in the city but still he will not stay there forever. His residence and birth were Bawangi village and he would never leave this village.

Bawangi Village was his birthplace, he said, here he was born and here he will also live although the city will probably have more attraction but who will forget the beautiful aroma of tea leaf plantations, and, morning dew and beautiful hills that will spoil the eyes.

Everything will be hard to forget.

"Have Lilis finished?"

The sound of questions was heard making Lilis who had been daydreaming immediately turned her head to look at Uncle Somar who was seen smoking his cigarette deeply on the lips of the room door.

"O Uncle. It's ready."

"Let's get out! The car will be here soon!" her curiosities made Lilis nod her head slowly and then lift the black bag.

"Eh, no need! Let Uncle pick up!" his ban was trying to grab the bag that Lilis was carrying.

"No need, Uncle! Let Lilis go. Lilis can do it," she refused gently.

Uncle Somar nodded then he smiled with his sincere smile in front of Lilis and then his smile slowly changed as he looked at Lilis who first stepped out of the room.

"Alright, today uncle will allow you to be able to take and decide your own path but later will no longer," his mind then smiled cynically accompanied by laughter.

...<•••>...

Black cars are seen driving from a distance, winding through the hills until finally stopped right in front of the house owned by Lilis and when the black vehicle came the villagers seemed to turn to look seriously at the car that had just been arrive it.

Not long after the figure of two men stepped down from the car. Her clothes were all black, her hair also looked rather long with an iron necklace around her neck.

"How long have you been?" greet uncle Somar then they shake hands with each other making Lilis who was just standing next to the steps silent.

Lilis stared at the appearance of her Uncle's friends from the toe to the end of her hair that looked a little sultry. I don't know why the appearance of his Uncle's best friend was a little strange. I don't know why they look like criminals.

"Where?"

"That's there!" Pointing her towards Lilis made Lilis smile as her two Uncle companions turned towards her.

Not long after the two friends of Uncle Somar came smiling and he pulled Uncle Somar's arm and whispered back there.

Lilis had no idea what they were saying. Lilis could not hear it more clearly.

"here! Give bag! Uncle wants to put it in the trunk!" asking him to make Lilis lift the bags but, faster also the two friends of uncle Somar ran and grabbed the bag carried by Lilis.

"No need! Let me just put it in the trunk of the car." forbid it and immediately grabbed the bag carried by Lilis.

"Thank you, uncle," he said, making the two friends smile.

The car door opened and Uncle Somar got in the car first.

"Let's get in Lilis! Our journey will be long today!" the door then patted the seat surface.

Just now Lilis wanted to step suddenly the sound of a call was heard making Lilis look at Kang Arul who seemed to be carrying a sack of grass while running towards him.

"Where is Lilis going?"

"Lilis is going to town."

"To town?" asked Kang Arul not expecting. He thought that Lilis was just joking yesterday but apparently after seeing this car made him not expect that Lilis would actually go to the city like what Lilis had said yesterday.

"Yes Kang. Lilis to the same city uncle Somar," he answered making Kang Arul look at uncle Somar who looks sitting with his gaze staring seriously at kang Arul.

"But your mother just died, Lilis."

"Lilis knows but Uncle Somar wants Lilis to come with him to the city."

"For what?"

"For work. Once you get that paycheck, Lilis will be back, really."

"But-"

"Kang Arul, please Lilis, yes! Lilis beep the goats Lilis! please give them grass!"

"But-"

"Please, yes kang!"

"Ehem,"

The sound of reprimand was heard making Arul and Lilis turned to look at uncle Somar who was seen leaning his body on the unconscious chair. He looked at the clock on his wrist and looked back at Lilis.

"Quick Lilis! Our journey will be long. We have to leave!" he said with both eyes glaring sharply at Kang Arul.

"Lilis has to go."

"Must now?"

"Iy-" Lilis said restrained when uncle Somar immediately pulled Lilis into the car and closed the door tightly.

Kang Arul touches the surface of the car window as if he does not want Lilis to leave this village. The departure of Lilis meant the departure of the girl he loved. What would it be like if a loved girl had to leave.

Lilis leaves without Lilis knowing what she's been feeling about Lilis all along.

"Lilis left first, yes Arul kang," he said, waving his hand.

The horn sound was heard twice so that the car driven by Lilis drove away from Arul kang along with other villagers who whispered to each other.

Well, of course they were talking about the departure of Lilis who went to the city after the passing of Maria who had just even one day.

Kang Arul was now speechless with his eyes blank. The sack of grass on his shoulder fell to the ground along with the scythe. His gaze stared nanar at the car that had been speeding and lost from his view while cornering in the hills.

Kang Arul did not expect that what was said by Lilis yesterday was not a trick or a lie and even a joke but this was the truth if Lilis really left him.

If only he knew if what Lilis said yesterday was the truth maybe yesterday he had expressed his feelings. What he had felt for Lilis but was calm until whenever he would wait for Lilis' arrival and when he came home from the city he would express his feelings to Lilis.

If he loved Lilis so much.
