The atmosphere of the village was often like this, the sound of children playing chases in his yard always illuminated Lilis days and always made Step Lilis smile however, this time the smile was as if it was far from Lilis lips. He just remained silent with his gaze constantly staring at the children playing down there.
After his mother's departure, his life seemed so empty. There is no longer a woman he always takes care of. The sound of goats screaming asking to be given grass also filled the atmosphere of his house.
Never did Lilis intend to take the grass for her goats. It felt that Lilis' life was empty after the departure of his mother even though there was uncle Somar who was the brother of his father but still he was not too familiar with uncle Somar.
The departure of Uncle Somar to the city of Jakarta to migrate and find work in the city made him not too familiar with the brother of his father.
Uncle Somar who was smiling happily in his room is now stepping his feet out of the room. Just now he was about to descend down the steps to plan a walk around the village before he left for the city later made his steps restrained after he saw the figure of Lilis who was leaning her head on the window his eyes looked blank while staring out of the house.
"It's so pretty" she marveled as she could see Lilis' face looking flat.
There her face looks expressionless and is very beautiful, so what if she smiles? Of course it is very beautiful and also the rich man will not be disappointed with what he will bring later.
"Came on!"
The voice of the call rang out and Lilis was dumbstruck in shock staring at Uncle Somar who was standing on the lip of the door.
"What's wrong?"
Lilis shook her head.
He pulled both of his legs and hugged him as uncle Somar sat near him.
"What's Lilis?"
Lilis shook her head trying to give a smile and told Uncle Somar that he was fine.
"Uncle know you are very sad after the death of your mother, but take it easy there is uncle Somar here who is always there for you."
No response from Lilis.
"So how's Lilis? Now, isn't your mother dead that means you just live alone in this house then what about uncle's offer?"
"What's Uncle's offer?"
"Uncle's offer to take you to the city to find a job."
Suddenly Lilis was silent. Somehow he felt suspicious of Uncle Somar for the passing of Maria, his mother but whether perhaps the reason for Maria's death had anything to do with Uncle Somar.
Lilis shook her head. No way, there's no way Uncle Somar would do that to his mother. Moreover, Lilis knew that Uncle Somar was the brother of his father so it is impossible if uncle Somar has evil intentions.
"Uncle Somar wants to take you to the city. You want to, right?"
Lilis was silent, not knowing what to say.
"There's a lot of work in town."
"Then what about the Lilis goats?"
"Take it to your best friend."
"Who?"
"That man this morning."
"Arul's Kang?" guess what made Uncle Somar nod.
"I see that guy is also very nice."
"He's Lilis' best friend."
"Yes that means everything is clear, right if you go to the city and the goats and other animals will be taken care of by the Arul. How do you want to, right?"
Lilis did not answer. He was still silent and bowed, but did not make Uncle Somar's smile disappear just like that. He got up and set his foot out of the room. Finally happiness in sight.
"Uncle!"
Lilis' voice sounded making Uncle Somar's steps come to a halt. Slowly he turned his head to look at the figure of Lilis who was bowed there.
The downcast Lilis played her fingers and slowly turned towards Uncle Somar.
"How many hours drive to town?"
Hearing the question made both of uncle Somar's eyes sparkle.
"When is departure uncle?"
"Tomorrow."
"Be-be-sook?"
"Well, why?"
"But Mom, you just died uncle. Why do we have to leave tomorrow? Can't it be postponed to the next week's journey?"
"For the atmosphere, it is still in mourning. What would the neighbors say if they found out that Lilis had gone to town after she had just died?"
Hearing that, Uncle Somar smiled and stepped closer to Lilis.
"No need to think about the villagers! Listening to them will only hinder your success. Enjoy life and do what you want!"
"Don't hear them talk! Close your ears tightly so you don't hear their disturbing voices!"
"Think about the future! Sometimes people try to destroy others because they do not want to see that person become successful. Think carefully and now you can pack things!"
"Tomorrow morning we set off," he explained and stepped out of Lilis' room.
Lilis honestly wanted to talk again, but uncle Somar had vanished from his sight. Lilis face was sad again. He put his head back on the window with his eyes looking back at the children playing down there.
When he was a child, his parents were still there. They are still complete. Lilis task is just play then Mother will always look for and it makes Lilis very long for the beautiful memories along with a complete family, but fate says another. God reaches out one by one to those he loves and now tells him to be alone.
"Lilases! Lilys!"
The voice of the man's screams sounded below made Lilis stare at the figure of Arul kang who was seen looking up at him.
"Why, kang?"
"I heard your goats screaming. You haven't given him grass?"
Both Lilis eyes were rounded. He forgot his goats.
"Good, Lilis forgot. Wait for Lilis to get some grass for her goats!"
"Not to be sought! Kang Arul's got grass in stock but take it."
"What's right, kang?"
"Yes, let's both give grass to goats!"
"Oh yeah, wait a minute, yeah! Lilis get down first."
"Yes, my head is also sick of looking up like this," she let Lilis laugh and ran out of the room past Uncle Somar who was busy smoking in the living room.
"Where are you going, Lilis?" asked uncle Somar to make a small step Lilis stopped.
"You want to feed the goats" he answered, making Uncle Somar nod his head.
Lilis stepped down down the steps towards the kang Arul who had first stepped into the goat pen.
"Look, here's the grass!"
"Well, a lot of it, too, yes the grass."
"Yes, this is for your goats. Afraid they're all starving."
"Maybe they are starving" replied Lilis who then gave the grass to his goats who ate voraciously.
"Look! Looks like the goat is pregnant!" Designate it.
"Which one?"
"That!" Point it towards the female goat with her stomach looks distended.
"Oh yeah, yeah."
"Well, soon the families of the goats will grow," said kang Arul made Lilis smile.
It feels very happy to have a friend like Kang Arul who is always there when he needs it. There have been many things made by the man and until anytime Lilis will never forget the figure of Arul kang even though he will later go to the city.
