Chapter 84: The Decisive Failure
Su Ping looked at the Lightning Rat looking extremely stressed and could not help but smile. “Hey, little man. Missed Me?"
The creature immediately hid behind Su Yanying's feet and trembled at the sight of Su Ping's evil grin, which had been imprinted deep in his memory. Her life lately was quite pleasant as Su Yanying always made sure there was enough food, care, and rest. But as soon as he saw Su Ping again, he was reminded of all the nightmare training he had received some time ago.
Su Yanying, on the other hand, was glad he brought his Fallen Phoenix as a backup plan. Still, he wondered why his Lightning Rat was afraid of Su Ping, instead of the Thunder Basilisk on the other side of the stage.
Unfortunately, he had not been able to read the mind of his pet more accurately.
Wait, why is HE up there? Su Lingyue saw her brother appear together with the third year "runner up" and failed to believe her eyes.
He had always seen Su Ping as a slow and useless failure who knew nothing but to bully the weak. How could he stand together with Su Yanying?
More importantly, what was he doing on stage? Is he going to play a grandiose joke in public?
Knowing him, Su Lingyue knew he almost had the right answer.
Curse him. So that's why he's in the senior area. To get in touch with a girl! Su Lingyue felt her good mood was instantly replaced by a sudden rage.
"Prepare, you two!" On stage, the jury had already announced the start of the match. In fact, he felt more stressed than the participants because he was responsible for ensuring their safety; he was not so sure he could stop the Thunder Basilisk, who had just been promoted to seventh rank.
Su Yanying nodded to the judge and gave him the order to move to Fallen Phoenix. The bird jumped into the sky while being enveloped in intense flames; the entire stadium became even hotter.
"Light Ray!" Su Yanying had him use his strongest moves while they still had the chance.
The spectators exclaimed in admiration when they saw the fourth rank Fallen Phoenix using an eighth rank skill. Blazing Ray was not an heritable skill, which meant Su Yanying put in a lot of effort to train his pet.
Ye Hao saw how the crowd reacted and smiled widely. This was what he wanted—the better Su Yanying's performance was, the more glorious his performance was after defeating him.
Upon receiving his order, the Thunder Basilisk let out a deafening howl toward the sky, causing everyone watching to gasp under its absolute might.
The Fallen Phoenix, too, had its actions interrupted. His Blazing Ray quickly shrank until it disappeared.
“It cut the eighth level skill using its roar! So that's the real power of a high-level battle pet.” some in the audience said.
Su Yanying grimaced when she realized that her opponent never intended to give her a chance to "exhibition", as Lan Lele mentioned.
The Fallen Phoenix felt the anger of its master and responded by gathering its flame again.
“Still not giving up? Goody. Let's play again.” Ye Hao smiled.
Thunder Basilisk did not attempt to stop the attack this time around. He patiently waited until the burning rays of fire approached and hit his wings.
Bang out!
The main screen in the stadium showed images of the attack up close. There, people saw a finger-sized white scar left on the Thunder Basilisk's wing, which did not look like a serious injury at all. Before the camera was pulled, the scar had already disappeared.
Thunder Basilisk was also believed to be a type of dragon. Such creatures usually have superior resilience as well as self-regenerating properties. It was rare to see a dragon-type Astral Pet bleed to death.
Again, the audience screamed in surprise.
Su Yanying was then too shocked to act. That was indeed Fallen Phoenix's best skill. If it continued this way, he would not be able to get past the Thunder Basilisk's defenses at all, even if it stood there and let his pet do its worst.
The gap between them is too big!
Ye Hao smiled in satisfaction as he looked at Su Yanying's face, before he told his basilisk to unleash a striking combination of attacks — Dragon Breath, Cold Salt Water, Lightning Storm, and Leer, respectively, all of which are high-level skills.
The first three were meant to show off the balanced potential of the creature, while the last one was to intimidate the Fallen Phoenix. Anything with a lower bloodline would only tremble under the basilisk's gaze.
The first three skills exploded somewhere in the sky without hitting the phoenix, that was what Ye Hao was trying to do. Still, their deadly force produced a number to the stage below as if some sort of brutal battle had just destroyed everything.
If he wanted to, Ye Hao could really ask the basilisk to burn down the stadium.
The Fallen Phoenix stopped moving as soon as it was affected by the Leer skill. It fell and slammed onto the floor while still trembling severely.
It's gone, hands down.
The stadium remained silent for a while at the end of the game as at least people were expecting some sort of exciting clash between the two brilliant pets. However, it turned out, Su Yanying was nothing when fighting against Ye Hao. All he did was strengthen Ye Hao's dominance.
However, it is inevitable. The seventh rank Thunder Basilisk was simply too powerful.
"I ... I ..." Su Yanying was overwhelmed by anger and despair.
"Come, where's your Lightning Rat?"
Su Yanying looked up and saw Su Ping looking at him strangely.
“But ratku—”
"Your mouse is braver than you think."
After some thought, Su Ping decided not to let the girl continue as she was. Under such circumstances, he would only lose another match miserably.
“Alright, let me handle it.” Su Ping sighed and looked at the small creature that was still trembling beside Su Yanying's feet. "Hey, little boy, come here already, if you don't want to humiliate me and your master to death."
The mouse blinked and pretended with a "I don't know what you're talking about".
Su Ping rolled his eyes and sent such a spiritual order. "Do what I say or I'll take you on another training trip."
The rat understood the evil intent hidden behind those words. In order not to experience all those nightmares again, he slowly joined Su Ping, after giving his master a pleading gaze.
“See that guy over there? Finish it, and I'll leave you alone.”
The Lightning Rat looked at the Thunder Basilisk with excitement clearly visible in its tiny eyes. Getting more holidays was more than enough reason to follow Su Ping's orders.
It puffed out its body, sharpened its claws and showed an unstoppable desire to fight.
Su Yanying almost gaped when she saw her pet so obediently when Su Ping did not even have a pet contract with her. He hears how experienced pet fighters can communicate with other pets using their spirits, but... He never thought Su Ping could do such a thing with his rat.
And I never told the Lightning Rat I would listen to it!
