When his house was burned, Jamil was confused. Between sadness, grief and lara when accused of keeping a giggling ghost. Now he and his wife and sleeping child are burned in his house. The front door of his house was already tied by the citizens from outside. Of course Jamil is getting confused.
"Jumina .... Gjumin .... Jum ..., wake up ....! Our house is on fire ...." Jamil woke his wife. Then carrying his son.
"What's up, Kang ...?" Juminem, who was too sleepy, was confused when her husband woke up.
"Our house is on fire .... Let's get out ...!" Jamil immediately dragged his wife, of course, while sweeping items that are easy to carry, especially clothes to replace himself, his wife and children. Not to forget, Jammil took his money stash that was put under his clothes in a closet. Wherever.
"Yesampun ..., Kang ...?! What is it, Kang ...?!" The newly awakened Juminem, was immediately confused by what was happening.
The sound of burning wood was heard everywhere. The first part of the front roof that was burned down had already begun to collapse. The flames instantly decomposed in various directions in the front room.
"Kang .....??!!" Juminem screamed in fear watching the flames falling inside his house.
"Let's hurry we save ourselves ...!! Don't look back ...!!" Jamil dragged his wife's arm.
Jamil took the road through the back door. Kitchen door near the bathroom to the well. He hoped that no villagers would be behind the house. When he came out with his wife and son, the back door was shut. At least no one knew he could save himself through the back door
"What do we do, Kang ...?!" ask Juminem who is certainly confused by the condition of his house.
"Have .., don't ask .... The important thing is that we avoid the fire." replied Jamil who walked quickly while carrying Melian and straddling the bundle containing the goods he could take.
"Where are we going, Kang ...?" juminem asked while holding her husband's hand.
"Just let's go first .... Avoid the fire so that we are safe .." replied Jamil who continued to move quickly.
"Yes, Kang ..." replied Juminem who continued to follow in her husband's footsteps.
Of course Jamil was confused, where he was going. But the steps did not stop. The important thing is that he and his wife can survive the fire. He kept moving fast. Crossing between fields and rice fields. Lucky that night the weather was clear and the moonlight was quite bright. So that the small streets of the roosters are clearly visible. Until finally, the three of them arrived at a small road beside the rice field.
"Kang .., I'm tired .... Take a short break, Kang ..." said Juminem, who was sitting on the roadside.
Jamil did not answer. But he stopped. Of course it's a pity to see his exhausted wife. Even he himself was tired. Must be tired because it goes far enough, from his home to out of a very far village. Must pass through fields and rice fields, pass over the roosters and jump over obstacles.
"Where are we going, Kang ...?" asked Juminem who was still continuing to sigh long breaths from exhaustion.
"Come, Jum .... The important thing is to walk first, find a safe berth ..." answered her husband who is certainly tired of carrying Melian who sleeps on her shoulders, and grappling her luggage bundle.
"We're not going home, Kang ...?" ask Juminem who certainly remembers his house with various items.
"Our house is forfeited, Jum .... We already have nothing .." replied Jamil who did not want to tell his wife about the problem. Afraid that his wife was shocked and could not accept the treatment of his neighbors.
"Yes, Kang ...." Juminem resigned according to her husband.
"Klontung ..., kluntung ..., kluntung ..." suddenly the sound of kluntungan cow, typical of the necklace of cows that are maintained by the population.
Jamil and Juminem immediately noticed the origin of the sound. Turns out, there was a ox cart coming towards him. And after arriving in front of Jamil and Juminem, the ox cart stopped.
"Where is this going ...? It's the middle of the night like this and it's still here .." said the man who runs the bull cart.
"No idea, sir .... We have no home anymore ..." replied Jamil who was confused as to where to go.
"Come, get on my wagon .... Come with me to Rembang .." said the wagonist offering a ride.
"Yes, Sir .... Thank you ..." replied Jamil who immediately took his wife to ride the ox cart in the back.
Jamil immediately put the cloth bundle. Then put Melian on it. Of course his hands and shoulders felt sore after carrying Melian very far and long enough. Although the child is still small, but the confusion that makes the burden even heavier.
Juminem, whose ferocity immediately sprinkled his body on the carriage, put his head on the bundle of goods, while hugging Melian. And because it was tired, then Juminem immediately fell asleep.
And so did Jamil. A tired body is asking for rest. Leaning against the wagon board, his eyes immediately closed.
Yes, of course Jamil has resigned to what happened to him and his family. His hope of forming a prosperous family was gone. His work, which was used to repair the house, has now destroyed everything. Even the valuables he was proud of also burned. Surely his wife will be very sad with her broken sewing machine. Even though the sewing machine is a tool to find extra money. Moreover, television is an entertainment for the children of his wife and neighbors. But everything was destroyed along with the fire that raged destroyed his house. I don't know what his burning home looks like.
Jamil can no longer think. Why do his dear neighbors, who are considered brothers, who if there is anything to come to his house, they all have the heart to burn his house. How outrageous.
Although the cow was running slowly, even faster than the person walking, but to transport goods, the ox cart was very useful as a means of transportation that could be relied upon by farmers. And precisely the slow journey of the cart pulled by the cow, then make the body tired Juminem and Jamil sleep soundly like a baby swung by his parents. And without notice, the ox cart was already very far away.
*******
A red glow was already illuminating the eastern sky. A sign that the sun will rise soon. Simultaneously, roosters crowed out from various directions. A sign of gratitude to Almighty God, that he was still given the opportunity to witness the rising of the sun in the eastern horizon.
Jamil was shocked to hear the rooster's voice. He woke up from his sleep. He stuttered when he was no longer on the bull cart he was riding last night. His eyes were blinded, looking for his wife and son. And of course Jamil back comfortable, after seeing his wife and child who are still lying next to him, of course still packed clothes that are in the sarong.
But Jamil was puzzled, after he got up, looked back and forth for the ox cart that he was carrying was gone. Other than his wife and son, there was no one else in that place. Apparently Jamil's been dropped off on the porch of people's houses. Somehow the wagonman took down, so that he did not feel at all. Only when he woke up, Jamil realized that he was waiting for his wife and child by leaning against the wagon wallboard, now with the same position, Jamil leaned against the porch wall of the house.
"Jum ..., wake up Jum ..." said Jamil as he patted his wife's body.
"Uuch ..., yes, Kang ...." Juminem squirms and wakes up.
"Ma .., ma ..." Melian's words also awoke to her mother.
"Thank God, Kang .... We are safe ..." said Juminem who was certainly grateful to be spared the raging fire of his house that burned.
"Yes, Friday .... God is still protecting us.." Jamil said.
"Well, where are we, Kang ...? Which cow cart did we ride on last night?" ask Juminem who is certainly confused.
"Come, Jum .... The cart is gone .... Come on, we'll pack up as soon as we leave this house. Later if found out who has a house we can be scolded." said Jamil who was also confused by the incident.
And they rushed to leave the terrace of the house. But suddenly, someone from inside the house opened the door, which of course knew the whereabouts of Jamil and Juminem and his son.
"Goddess .... It was very gassy to come ..." said the old woman who opened the door of the house.
"Sorry, Mbah .... We have disturbed the comfort of Simbah .." said Jamil who apologized to the woman who was old enough.
"God .... It's okay .... Comein. Here see the house .... That's pretty. Small but neat and clean" said the old woman.
"But ..., Mbah ...?!" of course Jamil is confused.
"It .... Don't be confused. Just enter .... Yesterday someone said, if anyone wants to occupy this house will come. Come on, come on in.." said the old woman again, which must have confused Jamil even more.
"But, Mbah ...?!" Jamil was confused. But the old woman had already dragged her hand to enter.
"Money is not to be thought of .... The important thing is that you have a home." said the woman.
Jamil followed the old woman's invitation to enter her house. Likewise, Juminem who carried Melian. Then they sit in the guest chair, although not new but looks good.
"Bah, we are the stray people .... I don't know where this is .... Know-how we got here." said Jamil repeated again, explaining about himself, so that the grandmother knew it might not be Jamil who was expected to come.
"Whoa .... Don't talk .... Your money you're wrapping so many sarongs, I still say wrong people .... How about you guys this ...? So the man did not go too low .." said the woman as she patted the glove bundle carried by Juminem.
"God, Mbah .... This, you know .." said Jamil who immediately opened the bundle of sarong cloth, which must contain clothes for his wife and son, wanted to be shown to the grandmother.
"This is ..." said the grandmother who immediately took the black plastic wrap from inside Jamil's glove bundle. Then open the black crackle that contains a lot of money.
Bizarrely. Jamil was confused, where did the black plastic wrap come from? He felt that he never put a packet of crackles in the sheath. All he remembered was taking clothes from his closet. That's just for his wife and son. But who put the black crackle packs?
"Yes, already .... This money is enough. I don't need to count. Anyway this house from now on is yours. Please be treated and maintained as best as possible. Don't get dirty and don't get ruined, yeah .... That's a message of solba. Take good care of your child, he will help you later." said the grandmother who had stood up, would have left Jamil with his son and wife who had been considered as home buyers.
"Yes, Mbah ..." said Juminem who was also confused by the attitude of the owner of the house.
"Patience, Nduk, mayu .... The trials of life are all sorts .." said the old woman, patting Juminem on the shoulder.
"Excite, Mbah ..." replied Juminem.
"Everything in this house is now yours. Take care and take good care, yes .... Sewage wants to go home now ..." so said the grandmother who immediately went out of the house.
Jamil and Juminem watch the footsteps of the grandmother, until the old woman disappears behind someone else's house.
