DRAGON CARVED JADE BRACELET

DRAGON CARVED JADE BRACELET
Chapter 8: MELIAN IS MISSING

That morning, Ms. Lan who was carrying Melian went to the market. Ms. Lan wanted to help her Mama or the waipo called Oma by Melian who was selling groceries in the market. At least, after finishing cooking the morning, Ms. Lan wanted to deliver breakfast to her mom and dad who had been in the market since morning.

In Lasem market, there is a quite famous grocery store. People call it Babah Ho's Shop. There Cik Lan's parents, Melian's grandparents, sold groceries. There are rice, cooking oil, sugar, and various other basic needs. The price is among the cheapest, so at Pasar Lasem Babah Ho store is very selling. That forced Babah Ho, Cik Lan's father, to leave for the market early in the morning before the buyers arrived.

Luckily Cik Lan, Babah Ho's son moves to Lasem to come with him. At least someone helped their parents. True too, because after there is Cik Lan, Babah Ho's wife can help sell in the morning, when the market is crowded with buyers. At least Cik Lan, Babah Ho's son who lives with him, can help cook and clean the house. So his father and mother could go to the market early in the morning.

About eight and a half hours, Ms. Lan who was holding Melian came to the market, carrying a bushel of food for her mother and father's breakfast.

"Eee ..., there's Melian coming here .... Definitely Melian want to help Engkong .., owe like Melian, haiya ..." said Babah Ho when he saw Melian who was carried by her mother into the stall.

"Tong .., ntong .... Hm .., it ...." Melian followed along to talk, her hands pointing. I don't know what's being said, nobody knows what it means.

"Oma ..., breakfast first .... This I bring rice with fried bandeng and sambal trasi" said Cik Lan to his mother.

"Yes, thank you, Lan .... Have you eaten?" mother said.

"Already, Ma .... It was cooked right away to eat." replied Ms. Lan.

"Melian's been fed?" ask her mother again.

"Already, Ma .... Melian likes to be fed spinach soup with milk meat, kok ..." replied Ms. Lan.

"Yes already .... Please help Papa to serve the buyers, yes .." said his mother who immediately opened the chain pot.

"Yes, Ma ..." replied Ms. Lan who immediately lowered Melian from her sling, then sat her son in the braiding chair commonly used for her papa break, which she was waiting for, who was in the corner in the stall.

Because there was Melian in the stall, and although she could not speak yet, Melian looked troubled. Ta .. tu, ta ..tu ..., much is said. Surely many buyers were asking the little boy.

"That's Babah Ho's grandson, yeah ...?" ask one of the buyers.

"Haiya .., that's grandchild owe .... Lan's Son .... Her name is Melian ..." replied Babah Ho.

"Sir Ms Lan ...? Said her husband got shot during the demo?" ask other buyers.

"Haiya .., that's why you're right .... Lan's husband was shot dead during the demo .... Owe pity .... Owe olang toruh si Lan returned to Lasem, haiya ..." replied Babah Ho again.

"That shot wasn't captured, Bah?" ask the other guy.

"Haiya .., owe don't know yes .... Deuteronomy with heavy government, lah .... We must lose .." replied Babah Ho.

"Pity yes, Koh ..." There are other buyers who say.

"Pity Ms Lan .... Young, beautiful, even now a widow .." said another person who was there.

"Haiya ..., that's our grandchild more pity .... Melian no longer has papah, haiya .." replied Babah Ho.

"I've been, Bah .... Please count the groceries ..., how much is it all?" said one buyer.

    "Cock rush?" other buyers asked.

"Yes .., this will follow sir-ne to the field." replied the hasty man.

"Haiya .., you are in a hurry .... Sugar one, tea one, oil goleng, blambang, onion, one kelo-one kelo .., mlico, same locok, yes .... Go to twenty rebuy, haiya .. " said Babah Ho who calculated his expenses.

The more the day does not get quieter. Babah Ho's kiosk is getting crowded. Especially people I want to eat or shop for sale again. That's why Ms. Lan was also busy helping her parents. Although already have a helper who serves the buyers, but to weigh sugar and cooking oil alone, still less energy. Yes, Babah Ho stalls are very selling.

"Assalam mualaikum .., Koh .... That's his grandson, Koh ...? It's beautiful ..." said a male buyer who had just arrived.

"Haiya .., Mr. Haji .... That's Melian, granddaughter owe .... Lan's Son. Pak Haji wants to shop what haya ..." replied Babah Ho to the man who was wearing a cocoa shirt and white kopyah.

"Thank you, Koh Ho .... Hopefully Koh Ho kiosk will be more in demand ..." said Pak Haji.

"Amin .., amen ..., amen .... Thank you, Mr. Haji ..." said Babah Ho who felt prayed by Pak Haji.

Ms. Lan was still busy helping her father and mother who served many customers. Until without realizing it, the new Melian can crawl it, has come down from the chair where his mother put him. Melian was already crawling on the floor, slipping between the legs of the people standing at her crank stall. Melian snuck out. Melian crawled, and continued to crawl in the market. Crawl into various market aisles.

"Ee ..., whose son is this ...?!" shouted a woman who saw a boy crawling across in front of her.

"Bocah ayune koyo ngene kok dimbarke karepe dewe .... Eee .... Whose child is this ...?!!" yell at the others again.

"Who's son is this ...?!!" shouted one of the burly men who passed in the middle of the market, then raised Melian who crawled past in front of him. Melian has crawled to the middle of the market, which is certainly crowded with buyers.

At Babah Ho's kiosk, "Lan ..., which Melian?" tanta's mother on Ms. Lan.

"In Papa's chair .., sit there." replied Cik Lan who was still helping to serve the buyer.

"In which seat ...? Nothing, Lan ..." said her mother who looked for her grandson.

"Haiya .., just saw Melian sitting there ..." said Babah Ho while pointing at his chair.

"Huh ...?!! How come Melian doesn't exist ...?! Kong, where's Melian ...?!" of course Cik Lan immediately shouted when she saw that her father's seat was empty, Melian was already nowhere in that place.

"Because .... Where is this brat ...?!" ms. Cik Lan was also confused.

Spontaneous Ms. Lan directly exited the stall, turned left right, looked back and forth looking for her son.

"Melian ...!!! Melian ...!!! Melian ...!!!" Ms. Lan was clamoring for her missing child.

"Little baby, yeah ...?" asked one of the market visitors who happened to cross paths with Cik Lan who was shouting for her son.

"Yes, Mbakyu .... Mbakyu look where?" ask Ms. Lan to that person.

"There was a baby crawling there .... Towards the middle ..." replied the person he said saw.

"Thank you, Mbakyu ...." Ms. Lan immediately rushed to run towards the middle of the market.

"Melian ...!!! Melian ...!!! Melian ...!!!" Ms. Lan shouted back to her son.

"So it crawled towards the middle there ..." said one basket indicating.

"God .... Your baby to, Ms ...? It was there ..." said another.

"Yes .... Melian, my son .... Where is the direction, Yu ..." asked Cik Lan who was still confused looking for her son.

"Try in that direction .... It crawled straight towards the middle ..." replied the basket looking.

Ms. Lan continued to enter the middle of the market, naturally while looking right left, looking for Melian. But not yet seen the child who is said to crawl into the middle of it.

"Bude ..., did you see my son Melian ...? He said people are crawling this way?" ask Cik Lan on the seasoning basket in the middle of the market.

"We ..., lah .... Your son, to ...? It was here .... Continued to be raised by the great men .... Lah, I think his father was the one who raised the baby ..." replied the bumbon basket.

"Where are you going now?" ask Ms. Lan.

"Waduh .., I don't know .... But it was there .... It seems to be invited out ..." answered the bumbon woman.

"Yes already, Bude .... I look outside first ..." said Cik Lan who immediately ran outside the market.

"Yes .., ati-ati ..." said the woman who sold the bumbon.

Ms. Lan was already in front of the market. Looking for her son. He went to and fro, watching every man in the parking lot. But Cik Lan did not find the person holding the baby as she expected. One by one the people who were there he asked. Yet all said no one knew the man holding the baby as Cik Lan asked.

"How about, Lan ...? Haven't met?" ask her mother who has caught up with Ms. Lan in the parking lot.

"Not met. Ma ..." replied Cik Lan slowly and stammered, which then without feeling Cik Lan had shed tears. She cried.

"Did anyone see my granddaughter, Melian?!" ask his mother Cik Lan to the people in front of the market.

"I have to announce Mr. Lurah Pasar through loudspeakers only, let people in the market help find ..." said one person in front of the market gave a suggestion.

"Yes .., let it be announced Mr. Lurah ..." sahut rawon rice seller who sells at market side stalls.

Then one of the young men immediately rushed to Lurah Pasar, asking for help to announce the missing child.

"announcement .... Announcement .... Missing child news ......!!" sound from the market loudspeaker. Lurah Pasar announces the disappearance of Melian, Cik Lan's young daughter. Of course for those who know or find it to be taken to Babah Ho kiosk or brought to the market office.

Of course the news was immediately responded by the market people. Everybody commented. Some say that Melian was carried by a large man. There are also those who say that Melian was invited to enter the stall, eat with the man who brought it. There are also those who say that Melian was invited to ride the same people. Some say, Melian was carried by a middle-aged woman who rode a motorcycle with a large man. The news continues to be told by many people with various versions. But if asked who was the man or woman who brought Melian.they all said no one knew the man. He said he had never been to the market.

By noon, Melian had not been found. Miss Lan could only cry. Sad to think of his missing son. Dismissed Cik Lan's hope of finding her son again. Melian's missing.
