Eternal Ice

Eternal Ice
Chap.7 "Frozen Spirits"

Eric stared at the reflection of his beautiful face on a chunk of ice, feeling there was something different about the condition of his face.

"My face looks dull, is this all because of that brash duo?" Eric snorted in annoyance, his hands groping his face.

"All the things you blame on them. Obviously it's because you didn't wash your face properly." Alice who was opening the dimensional map beside him said, fed up with Eric's habit of always blaming others.

"Oh, so?" Eric brushed his hair to the left, hoping to improve his appearance. What Alice said was true. During this adventure, he only washed his face less than he used to do every day at the headquarters. If asked, he will answer.

"The water is cold."

And of course Alice replied.

"Who told you to wash your face in the river? Use your water magic!"

"Here you are, you are not a girl who keeps up appearances to be glimpsed by the son of nobility." Alice stopped, twirling her index finger to bring up a small snow vortex on top of her finger.

"But I'm a teenage boy who wants to be the best?" Eric looked at Alice, before long Alice looked back lazily.

"Your competitive soul is, Eric."

"Hm." Eric only replied briefly.

A strong wind suddenly hit the two of them, accompanied by snowflakes that flew. The blizzard continued to grow stronger as the blue magic wind crashed. The view began to blur drastically, Alice could have been carried away by the wind if her feet did not hold firmly her body.

Srrtr.....

"Ah, my map!" Alice was trying to reach her wind-blown dimension map. The defense of his body began to be unbalanced, his body staggered here and there due to the pressure of the wind, in a moment he would fuse with the vortex of snow.

"Alice, wait!!" Eric reacted, his hand pulling the hood of Alice's white robe until her friend's body was pulled back.

"We must evacuate first! We can take care of that map later." Eric pulled Alice's wrist, then ran with all his might north to get out of the storm area.

...----------------...

"Eric!! My map!!" Said Alice pitched anxiously shortly after arriving at the northern end of Mount Saicensia, her hands clutching the collar of Eric's white shirt.

"Hey, relax. It's just a dimension map, isn't it? I can find you a new one." Eric took off Alice's grip and tidied back his shirt.

"Just said?! That was my father's gift!! The kingdom alone did not possess such map-like magic artifacts! How can you replace him?!" Alice raised her voice, the serious expression implied on her face really made Eric depressed.

"All right, I'm sorry." Eric relented, he raised both his hands a sign of defeat. "I didn't know that map meant so much to you." Reciprocity.

"Sad." Alice sat herself on a stone, crossing her arms in annoyance.

"You're getting ugly if you pout like that." Eric sat next to Alice.

"Basic sucks!! You're the ugly one! I'm being serious, throw away that useless joke!" Alice shouted as she stepped on Eric's feet with her shoes.

"Aw! As always, your shoes are always painful, Alice." Eric stood up, patted his clothes that were dirty with snow, and said something more.

"Wait what else are you? You said you wanted to find your precious map?" Eric stuck out his palm to Alice, offering help to stand up.

"Yes." Yeah." Alice received Eric's hand and stood up.

......................

"It's been more than 4 hours we've searched, is it true that the compass can trace the existence of artifacts?" Eric asked softly. Actually his stamina is still a lot left, he is just lazy.

"of course! You doubt the ability of a magic tool I bought for eighty gold pieces?!" Alice's voice rose again in front of her best friend.

Alice stared intently at the bronze antique compass she was holding, hoping for a second or five later to make progress. 'If the map wasn't a magic artifact of royal gem-class, I could have brought it back before me.' He massaged his temple and closed his eyes for a moment.

Srr.....

CRING!!

"Whoah!" Alice screamed in shock and took a few steps back until she hit Eric.

Suddenly a tiny figure appeared behind the light that a few seconds ago began to surround them. Her body might only be as tall as one-fifth of Eric's sword, her hair wavy short, boat-white in blue gradations, the short dress she wore looked gorgeous with the glint of magic snowflakes decorating her, then the wings of the little elf were attached to her back.

"No!! I'm the cute ice fairy who's gonna take you to the" Little elf was narcissistic before Eric's burly hand grabbed her and grabbed her.

"Who are you? How dare you act so cute in front of me, where will you take us? I could've destroyed you before you even got on with what you said." Eric tightened his grip, while the fairy in his grasp thrashed in fear.

"I-i..... Le-let go a-I te-more first...." The fairy's face began to turn pale and turn blue.

"Yeah!!" The entity screams in surprise as Eric releases him. Then inhaled the air greedily after the work of his lung organs was slightly disturbed.

"Basic of cruel man! I want to kill fairies! I'll reply later!" Eric just rolled his eyes puffed at the threat of the little elf before him.

"Hey, you two can continue that useless fight later. Now I need an explanation of who you are." Alice ruffled her waist, her eyes turning to stare at the tiny fairy.

"My name is Ellie, one of the five major element fairies in this magical world. I'm an ice fairy under the orders of Madame Ravegne, the guardian ice spirit of Saicensia." Ellie introduced herself politely, she widened her short dress and slightly bowed.

'Ravegne?'

Ravegne, the legendary ice spirit in the Kingdom of Saicensia. It is said to be a descendant of the leader of the western fairy nation and the humans who live hidden behind the cold snow and ice, then during the magic war, he was killed in the battle against humans. His soul is not reincarnated into another body or detached forever from life, but rather resurrected into the spirit of the Saicensian forest guard as well as the ruler of the ice element in the magical world. No human being knows of its existence. However, for some reason, a few centuries ago there was a witch Dawn Minor who was able to meet Ravegne. The two of them fall in love, their strong bond reverses destiny. Ravegne returned to his original body and lived happily.

'The known story of the Ravegne is completely cliche, there is no way the guardian spirit can be changed back to the original body forever. It sounds more like a bedtime story that was deliberately made with a happy ending to make it seem fun. I know it doesn't end happily as people believe.' Monologue Alice in her mind.

"Oh, huh? What a ridiculous introduction to you, midget." Eric smiled a disdainful smile with his eyebrows raised next door.

"Who do you call a midget?! If you don't believe me I'll prove it!" Ellie did a spinning motion and in an instant the three of them had already moved places.

'Sovern eyes?!' Eric and Alice flinched together, after Ellie's spinning motion they appeared in front of the ice forest spring. The water flowed and pooled without freezing, just like the Arve river that runs along the city of Amarath, the capital of Saicensia, towards the end of the city of Dandelions which became the border with other countries.

The cring!

Srrr.....

Light seemed to gather above the spring. Soon a female spirit appeared above the clear water. Her long silver hair was knee-length, her sapphire blue eyes glittering beautifully, her body wrapped in a short-sleeved silk white dress with a long to cover both her legs, a jewel-encrusted crown perfectly mounted on top of her head. Completely embodies the image of the fairy godmother told in the stories.

Ravegne, she is the figure of that woman.

"Ellie, who are these two men?" The soft voice of Ravegne speaking the ancient language was like the breeze of spring, softly engulfing in hearing.

"They are both human beings with different mana flow than the others, I think that bringing the two of them before the Madam is a good act in investigating the instability of the wizarding world in this century." Ellie answered using the same language, the original ancient language used hundreds of years ago.

Ravegne was silent for a moment, then approached Alice and Eric who had been watching him. With reflexes, Alice bent down and pushed Eric's nape down to bend down in front of Ravegne.

"We greet Ravegne, the ice spirit of the Saicensia mountain rangers. May the majesty and honor of the western tiger always be with you." Alice greeted politely, accompanied by a sense of awe and fear that struck simultaneously.

"No need to bend, raise your face and look." Ravegne held onto Alice's shoulder.

Eric stood up straight again, just opened his mouth as if to say something, Alice pulled back Eric's hair 'slow'.

".............. "

"Where are you guys from? Ordinary humans and even the Alpha Major witches would not be able to withstand the cold of the Saicensia mountains during the winter. If you just want to play around or just see the scenery then come back. Which force is stronger will not guarantee your safety." Ravegne holds the shoulders of the two, of course, the reaction that arises is different from each side.

'His hand is warm, like my mother's soft hand....' Alice stared at the sparkling Ravegne, she remembered how tender and warm her mother's hand had raised her.

'Hiiii, cold!! It felt like my shoulder was hit by a huge pile of snow!!' Unlike Alice, Eric shuddered coldly.

"My name is Alice, I and this person are from the city of Freesia, south of the capital Saicensia. I left my hometown and went to the mountains to find a cure for my mother's illness, but now we're losing our way because our magic map is disappearing in a snowstorm." Alice replied with the ancient language she had just learned. Eric who was standing beside her raised an eyebrow when he realized that this 'person' Alice meant was her.

"I can give you a new one, take this map. Be careful with every step you take and take. The world of magic is not okay." Ravegne raised a little of his right hand.

Then......

POOFFS

A map scroll appeared in front of Alice, making her instantly capture the scroll without hesitation. It was really like her lost dimensional map was blown away by the wind, still with a small gold-patterned rope tying her up.

"Wow!!" Alice and Eric cried out in awe at the same time, it was like they were watching a show of entertainers at a festival.

"Thank you." Alice bowed again, this time not forcing Eric to bow. Eric did it himself.

"This map will assist you in uncovering the deepest secrets of this peaceful world of magic, and it may change your life." Ravegne.

Eric & Alice then leave using Ellie's dimensional portal after having a conversation with Ravegne. Their interaction which roughly only runs for fifteen minutes greatly attracts the attention of the other four element fairies.

"Ellie! I heard that Madame Ravegne met a human who could see her and gave the human a magic artifact! Is that true?" Cyra, the fire element fairy, he immediately asked Ellie when she came without stopping the flapping of her wings and went down.

"That sounds like a prank but it also sounds like a fact! I don't even remember when Madame Ravegne welcomed the arrival of humans so well." Skye, the sky fairy, added.

"Mrs Ravegne has lost her trust in humans, how could she give up a magic artifact for free?" Charley, the wind fairy, says behind Skye's body.

"It's suspicious! I know he must have found something unusual in that human!" Anne, the water fairy, commented behind the small mirror she was holding.

The four of them approached Ellie who was sitting quietly propping up her chin on a large rock. His face seemed to be thinking hard about something.

Then Ellie said.

"Okay, I don't understand. Mrs Ravegne had lost her trust in humans, but just because human possessions were more special, she gave away valuable things.

Or perhaps....he remembered Mr. Acheron and his powers were different from those of humans in general?"

____________

A few days later....

"Mother."

A man with silver white hair and sapphire blue eyes, came to the Ravegne spring with a bouquet of lily flowers. The parasite was handsome, coupled with the cold impression attached to his face, the look in his eyes was like a white tiger wandering alone.

"My son." Ravegne instantly appeared on the surface of the spring after hearing his son call out.

"Mother, I brought you my favorite lily." The man handed the bouquet of flowers he had brought to his mother.

Ravegne took the bouquet of flowers with a warm smile of a mother, shortly afterwards she gently rubbed her son's mane and said.

"Theseus, at the end of the day you've been seeing mom a lot, is there something? Your work over the last century has grown a lot, hasn't it? I'm fine here." Ravegne said to Theseus, The work that his son had to do was very much, he was worried that his son would continue to delay work and would eventually affect the running of the magical world system.

"It's okay, I just miss mom." Theseus looked at his mother with softened eyes.

"A few days ago I found a human girl who looked a lot like you, was she the one you gave me the light of?" Ravegne ruffled Theseus' hair.

'Like me? Alice?' Theseus raised his eyebrows before replying.

"I don't know, mom. It might just be a coincidence."

'Tianca.... What the hell happened to him? Why did Alice meet her mother?'
