Matthew walked quickly to the meeting room, after hearing that some of the Jo Group company shareholders had come to Jakarta.
"It must have been Charlote!" his grunts growled, his breathing gasping.
Aaron, the lawyer who accompanied Matthew followed him with great difficulty. "Matt, calm yourself. We walk slowly while talking about this. It's not too late to attend the meeting.
His best friend was right, and Matthew slowed his pace. His breathing was again set to normal and calm. Aaron aligned himself beside him while doing the same.
"Matt, Charlote might use the voice of the shareholders against you," said the bespectacled man, whose hair was filled with gray hair completely.
"Sound?" Matthew scrunched his forehead.
"Yes. I'm sure he has a strategy to change the shareholders' decision to defect to him." Aaron did not give an explanation directly in this hallway, because he would discuss it later in the meeting room.
Matthew and Aaron entered the room, as soon as they got there while trying to sigh at their unrest, and fixed the suit. There are members of the stake bearer who is very well known by him, namely his three best friends; Fritz, Frans, and Kevin. The three immediately approached and shook hands with Matthew and Aaron, once they got there.
"Good morning, everyone," said Matthew, giving a welcome word.
"I heard the news that all of you have bothered coming here to talk to me about something."
"Yes, you're right, Matthew," replied Kevin, who felt no need to waste time. "I heard that 7 shareholders want to talk about the quality of Logan as the heir to our company."
Then, Fritz added as he glanced at the seven people cynically. "They assumed that Logan did not deserve to hold that status because Logan was only a child of the levy."
Matthew thought, his fingers intertwined in front of his nose. "Are you three having a problem with that?" This question only tested his three best friends.
And Franz answered it. "We've talked about this." Franz leaned on the back of the chair casually. "And there's no problem for me about this. All this time, we know the quality of Logan in controlling the company. And we believe in that."
Charlote smiled scornfully. "Hmm .. That's just the perspective of his best friend. Sure, you guys wouldn't be good at rejection."
The three Caucasian men, plus Matthew, turned to Charlote who was fanning herself with a black hairy fan. The woman smiled, feeling victorious, no matter the ferocious faces the men showed.
"Sorry, Madam. We have principles when it comes to business. We do not look at things subjectively, but objectively" said Fritz, feeling unacceptable.
"Let's see!" Franz pointed to all seven shareholders. "Has Logan's performance been bad? Has he ever dropped a company? All this time, he's been advancing our company. So why do you doubt him just because he's a pick-up boy?"
"And again!" kevin quickly added. "Logan is just a candidate. The position of the owner of the company still belongs to Matthew. Why should we talk about this now?"
Convincing remarks made the seven shareholders waver. They discussed each other's opinions. Matthew, Aaron, and his three best friends smiled. Charlote did not falter, still smiling optimistically to sway the shareholders. He straightened his body, closed his fan, and placed it on the table.
"Oh yeah? Then, what about the case of Logan who has impregnated a woman out of wedlock? The scandal can make the stock price go down if it is smelled by the public."
"Charlote, Quiet!" matthew snapped, breaking the table, so everyone was shocked and turned to him. Instead of retreating, Charlote instead smiled condescendingly.
"Matthew, calm down" said Aaron, somewhat whispering.
The tense atmosphere in the room was domineering, the boisterous of the shareholders sounded. The only one who was relaxed here was Fritz. The man sat quietly, smiling amusedly as he turned his stool.
"Have you forgotten what happened to Matthew?" said. "Pregnancy out of wedlock is not a taboo for our country. When it's publicly known, it doesn't affect our company." The fact of the matter is undeniable.
Matthew's smile grew towards his three best friends, as the shareholders approved Fritz's remarks. Charlote wasn't happy, but still didn't want to give up. His murky gaze was directed at the people he asked for his support.
They nodded and lowered their heads. However, eventually one of the seven people was forced to speak up for Charlote.
"But still, Logan is only an adopted son. He's not part of Jonathan's family, although Mr. Matthew has given his last name to Logan." Goody! Charlote cheers inwardly, smiling widely. "His behavior will be different when he gets inheritance rights to her. Sure, he'll be arbitrary. A real child can bear to his parents because of power thirst. Well, let alone Logan, who's just a pick-up boy."
Matthew kicked the table as he got up from the chair, pointed his index finger and glared at the man. "Don't talk just anyone! What do you know about Logan? You have no right to judge it without knowing the truth! Logan's the kid who knows it's lucky. And you guys, the only people that the greedy woman paid!"
Pale faces were visible on the faces of the seven people. Everyone shut up, Charlote threw her face away while grumbling. "paid? I don't even have any money. How can you accuse us of that?" reply Charlote, although nervous, but still trying to calm down.
Aaron smiled, then stood up, it was time for action. A flasdisk was taken out of his pocket. He approached the laptop, turned on the projector screen, and played a video secretly recorded when Charlote invited shareholders to a special dinner.
The camera recorded clearly that Charlote gave them a check that was pretty fantastic. Their faces instantly paled and immediately lowered their heads.
"How can I trust you?" matthew was cynical, his eyes lit up like a burning fire. "You've been my business partner for years, but you betrayed me like this? Do you know what kind of woman you're fighting for? She's a greedy woman who just likes to squander money, leave her son to spend money with my papa's inheritance, then come to ask for rights in the name of justice for her son."
Matthew kicked the table again. That way, he was just satisfied because he could vent the emotions that had been held in his chest since earlier. Her gaze was directed at Charlote, but the woman was unable to return her gaze.
Then, Matthew changed the direction of his gaze on the 7 people who were looking down. His smile grew cynical and insulting. "If you still want to work with me, give back the money Charlote gave you. I assume this conversation is over!"
"No, it's not over, Matthew!" charlote exclaimed, suddenly rising from his chair. He still hasn't lost. His gaze led to the 7 people earlier. "So easily you guys falter just because of that?"
"Mrs Charlote," interrupted a middle-aged woman, rather loudly. "I cannot defend a mother who has abandoned her child."
Charlote's gaze was fierce while tilting her head. "What's? You believe in that shit, Madam Stefanie?"
The woman named Stefanie took out the check that Charlote gave her at that time, then shifted it before her. The movement was also carried out by 6 other people, then a man of lush stature and gray hair said:
"Sorry, Mrs Charlote. We maintain our business cooperation, rather than taking care of your greed. Instead, you give up on your ambition."
Charlote. His fingers clenched to whiten, and he snorted. The sound of the door opening took a look. Someone appeared, and everyone was immediately shocked, including Charlote.
"Aurellie?" mumbled. The 35-year-old woman looked at him determinedly for a moment, then said firmly and loudly, but did not mean to hurt.
"Stop it, Ma." A request from a child who has been abandoned, but still kept a soft tone, hoping to soften the heart of the mother. "I didn't ask Mama to do this," Aurellie said again, her gaze starting to wistfully, as she approached Charlote. "I'm not demanding my rights because I've got what I'm supposed to."
The cataclysm still dominates it. It was precisely he who even tried to melt Aurellie's heart by grabbing her hand and staring at the wailing. "No, Honey. As one of your father's daughters, you deserve more than you should!"
Being abandoned by a mother is the saddest thing ever felt. However, Aurellie's heart grew broken because her mother used it just to get the treasure.
Aurellie threw out the woman's hand, feeling that the dirty hand was inappropriate. "If Mama still insists, I'll sue you back for child neglect. Mama's lawsuit against Matthew's brother will only be in vain."
Charlote's jaw is hardened, with narrowed eyes. "You're threatening me?" his words were deep and furious.
"I affirm," Aurellie replied, so cold, as if her heart had frozen like an iceberg. "Think carefully. I will still accept you as the grandmother of my children, or end up in defeat and live in a nursing home. It's a place worth a mother like you."
A shocking remark, never imagined would come out of the soft-hearted woman's mouth. Matthew was worried.
"Aurellie," he said, gently reprimanding the woman.
Aurellie turned her head for a moment with wet eyes. "No, Brother. Mama should know how painful my waiting is, wishing that she would come and hold me as a child. I thought papa's death would bring my mother closer to me, but in fact .. mama's getting away." He saw Charlote looking down, whether it was a sign of regret or vice versa.
Although she was disappointed in her mother's attitude, Aurellie still hoped that the woman regretted her actions. "I expect nothing from him but affection" Aurellie continued. "But if she still insists, don't expect me to think of her as my mother."
A painful and cruel rejection. How much does he hate his mother? Charlote could not say with her head down and eyes glaring. Aurellie turned around while wiping her tears. He approached Matthew, who was compassionate to him, gently rubbing his sister's shoulders.
"You okay?" his question, which was answered by a nod of the head from Aurellie. Matthew ends the meeting, and everyone walks out of the room, leaving Charlote alone.[]
