Stalled steps.
Auntie said? Who is he?
Realizing my presence, Grandma turned around and asked me to come closer.
With hesitation, I set my foot near him.
“Hannie, takin. This is Nana's friend, Dinan Dinianti.”
I looked at the woman. Dinan's?
“You can call me Auntie,” her dream is close.
My eyes twitch. This freak, you know so well. I don't like it!
He held out his hand, shaking hands. I just looked at his hand.
“Hannie.” Grandma pushed my little back.
“Include yourself as Nana taught you.”
I still doubt. He's a shitty guy. Why should I get to know him?
But, I can't embarrass Grandma.
“Halo.”
I welcome his hand.
“My name is Hansa Reyki Grace.”
The woman smiled happily.
“Good name!” said.
I frowned. That smile, did Grandma teach him to smile like that?
Our hand link is missing. I recall my original purpose of looking for Grandma.
“Oh Yes, Nana.”
Grandma looked at me straight.
“I want to snack!”
Presumably, Grandma was surprised to hear my unbiased request. Since I was a kid, I didn't like snacks. I'm not too interested in money either.
“K-Why suddenly?”
“I saw the brother of a toy salesman passing by on the bridge. There are shiny things! I want!”
Grandma grunts amusedly. So too with that woman.
“This you, do not like money but like the shiny-pink.”
I chuckle embarrassedly. What can I do? The light is so much more beautiful than money.
“Bby, but don't go alone.”
Grandma took out a green piece of money from her pocket.
Before giving it away, Grandma asked me to find Eli first.
“Ahhh, Nana! His brother will leave!”
Grandma insisted I find Eli first.
If my guess is not wrong, Brother Eli is on the second floor. He had brought a pile of clothes. Must be ironing. And the ironing room is on the second floor.
“Nana...” whining me while continuing to tug at his arm. “It's the same Nana ajaaa!!”
“Nana there are guests, you don't see?”
“Aaahhhhh!!”
In the middle of my debate, the woman he said was Grandma's friend laughed.
“Then it's the same Aunt, yuk. Poor Nana is old, must rest a lot. Not that your dad said that.”
I stopped whining. Yeah, Dad said I shouldn't bother Grandma and make her tired.
But I don't like this aunt.
With a heavy heart I let go of Grandma's arm and nodded approving of her offer.
The woman smiled with satisfaction, and stood up.
“Ayo,” take her.
I grabbed his words, again. Then he turned to look at Grandma.
“It's okay, I'm accompanying your grandson?”
Grandma smiled gently.
“Iya, just take her.”
The woman smiled and pulled me.
Why does it feel like Grandma has dumped me?
...…...
“Which one do you want? This or this?”
Aunt showed me two marbles.
I grunt. Is he kidding? The shiny thing I want isn't that!
“I don't like both.”
Aunt seems a little disappointed at my refusal. Of course, I obviously don't like toys like that. Anyway, I have a lot.
I looked at the whole wagon carefully.
Where's the thing I saw?... Oho! Meet me!
I pulled that thing out of the inside of the wagon.
“Adek likes this one?” ask the seller.
I nodded with sparkling eyes.
“Iya! Aunt, I want this!”
“Ah, okay.”
“One day, Han?” ask before paying.
I thought for a moment.
“There's more like this?” I asked the salesman's brother, and he searched the wagon for a while.
“Ga no, deck. That's the last one I think. But this is something similar.”
The salesman's brother showed me a gold bear hanger.
I nodded no problem.
“Papa. Aunt, it's two yes,” handover.
Then Aunty paid for it, and went back home. After passing through the gate, I stopped Aunt for a moment.
“Why?”
I raised my hand that was holding the bear-shaped keychain earlier.
“This make Aunt.”
It seems he did not expect this. As soon as she received the hanger, Auntie immediately hugged me.
“Aw, funny. Thank you yes, Hannie.”
Of course I didn't return his embrace.
“I-Yes, equally.”
When I got home, I ran to Grandma.
“Nana! Look what I bought!”
Grandma put down her cup of tea, then looked at me.
“Wah, beautiful. You choose beautiful things.”
It was a leaf-shaped keychain with a shiny golden color. Of course, not real gold.
“He also gave me this,” show Aunt proud.
Grandma just laughed to see it.
“You're a good boy, Hannie.”
I blushed in shame. Only Grandma can make me so.
I asked him to show me his palm, and I put the hanger there.
Grandma looked at me in wonder with eyebrows raised.
“It's for Nana. Last week Nana's birthday. Everyone gave gifts. Even Mother and Father too. While I didn't prepare anything, so..”.
I looked into Grandma's gray eyes that began to be in tears.
“Nana why cry?” manyworry.
Is the gift too bad?
“No. It's nothing Hannie. Nana just... did not expect.”
Grandma lowered her head and rubbed her eyes. Then look at me again.
He smiled until his eyes closed. It resembles a crescent moon.
“Nana didn't expect you to think about this. Thank you, My Hannie.”
That extra ‘My’ warms my heart. Suddenly I became very happy.
I hugged Grandma tightly.
“Of course, I love Nana!”
Grandma returned my embrace.
“Iya, Nana loves you too. Sangaatt it's a pity.”
I laugh. And also with aunt.
A few days later, Grandma became much more attentive towards me.
He even cooked me lunch. Dad nagged me for it.
But of course, Grandma gave me a defense.
The following year, on my seventh birthday. Grandma gave me a necklace of gold with a glass hanger filled with luminous liquid inside.
This gift from Grandma is real gold. Different from my gift last year.
“Besok Granny show secret box Grandma.”
This year anyway, suddenly Grandma called herself ‘Grandmother’, not Nana anymore. I followed him slowly.
And this year, Auntie came to celebrate. He gave me a pair of ping-colored bear socks. Huh, even though I'm a man. Those socks are too cute for me, aren't they?
“Grandmother appointment?”
Grandma nodded.
“Appointments.”
My eyes shine. I looked at the necklace that had hung around my neck once again.
This is the best gift of my life. I murmured in my heart.
I hugged Grandma tightly. He replied, and rubbed my head.
Mommy has the same habit as Grandma, likes to rub my head.
I don't know, but I feel like you're the one who followed Grandma. Maybe he realized I liked the swab in the head.
“Healthy Yes, My Hannie.”
My smile widened silently in his arms. I'm nodding. Sure, I'll stay healthy and take Grandma around the world.
“My grandmother too, healthy keep yes!”
This afternoon was my best birthday party. There will be no better day than today.
