Lisa's hand was clasped tighter, Farhan looked heavy as he was about to tell his dark story in the past. A story in which Farhan grows up to cause the strange personal impact he is today.
"Childhood was my toughest time and the other seven children of the orphanage. Where we almost every day feel hungry because the slum orphanage is almost bankrupt."
Farhan's lips seemed to shake as the story began. Lisa chose to be quiet even though the beginning of Farhan's story was very painful to hear. Not much different from the fate of Lisa herself who was left by her parents since childhood.
"From the seven children of the same age as me, I'm the only one who's never been adopted" he said.
Lisa flabbergasted. Though Farhan handsome and including goo looking.
"Why could that be?" ask Lisa curious.
"Because I'm different, not as cheerful as the other orphanage kids. When they showed their talent as children, I would rather sit in a corner and be alone. However, my brain kept thinking that me and the other kids wouldn't starve anymore."
Lisa's mouth forms the letter O. He just remembered that Farhan is a stone of breathing that is irritable to speak.
"Continue?"
"When I was ten years old, all the orphanage children had been adopted by everyone but me. Where shortly afterwards came 5 orphanage children whose age was smaller than me. That's when our dark story began." Farhan sighed slowly. Slightly glanced at Lisa who seemed enthusiastic about her story without even glancing.
"The mother of the home was forced to give me a tough task because her assistant ran away with all the donation money. Every day, I always wake up at three in the morning to help mom make a market snack cake. Then to increase my income I also sell newspapers while bringing two sisters who are the same age as the twins."
Lisa was surprised by her pursed lips. "You're asking them to sell?"
"No! I told them to wait for me in the park while I was selling newspapers at the red light. Every 1 hour I look at their situation."
Farhan turned his memory. Remembering that bitter dark time. Exposed to dust, heat, and even worse when the rain falls on the earth. He had to find a shelter to save his newspapers from getting wet. Dark times are too painful to remember.
Lisa started asking again. "Where's your mother going?"
"He was selling cakes in the market, while bringing three other orphanage children. We both have to be able to divide the time to be able to eat every day," said Farhan—miris.
"Aren't there any benefactors who helped? Why that cruel?"
Farhan.
"Since the assistant of the home brought a run for the donation money, all the donors who used to help were angry and did not want to make donations again. Some of the wealthy residents who lived near the orphanage also began to hate the orphanage. Especially if you look at our sad situation, everything seems to step aside, and think that the poverty that afflicts us is a temptation to get more donations."
Lisa shut her mouth in disbelief. He was concerned about human beings thinking like that.
"How could they be so bad? Where their brain thinks you're imaging," Lisa's murmur begins to provoke the atmosphere. He hit his pillow so bad.
"Because the husband of the mother of the home gave the illness stroke, people thought that the donation results were used personally for his treatment. In fact, until the breath of the father of the home was never taken to the hospital. Only consume drugs because our needs are many, while our income is very limited."
"Evil!.It felt like I wanted to hit the dumb heads of those who thought nothing of the obvious," Lisa grumbled once again.
"It's all over, you just listen." Farhan pinched Lisa's nose.
The woman nodded even though her heart was still crap. "Yes sorry, but I'm annoyed to know! How else is your story?" Lisa tightened her embrace on Farhan. The man greeted her with an equally tight hug.
"Too many twists and turns, our lives were still difficult until I was 17 years old and adopted by Mr. Haris. At that time my mother and I had a sembako shop business, but unfortunately our land is the result of a dispute. The place where Mr. Haris was about to build his new building."
"Then you guys met there?"
"No!" answer Farhan flat.
"Iksh!" Lisa hit Farhan's chest furious. "Why is your story only half-and-half, anyway? Quickly tell me the truth." He growled and almost bit Farhan so upset.
"Finally you meet good people. How about performance. Do you always make the top five?"
"I've always been ranked first from SD to High School" Farhan replied proudly.
"Woah cool. So Mr Haris adopted you because of your accomplishments?"
"Yes, but it's not over yet. When I graduated High School, I started college and joined the company Revical Group. That's where my next suffering begins. I was taught hard without knowing affection. Worse than my life at the parlor, so I feel like running away and stop being Mr. Haris' adopted son."
"What exactly is Mr Haris?" Lisa was curious about herself.
"He wasn't cruel, but strict rules drove me almost crazy. There are too many targets to reach. I had to learn ruthless to get rid of other competitors in the business world. In essence, Mr. Haris taught me that power is a priority if I don't want to be harassed by others anymore."
"So your ruthless personality grew from there?"
Farhan nodded. Justifying Lisa's question just now. His memory goes back to that time, where he told Mr. Haris that he wanted to be seen as human and not insulted by others. And Mr. Haris made it happen, with Farhan's position and achievements in the business world.
"As a child I was always taught how to survive to eat, and by adulthood I was taught how to survive in a competitive business environment" Farhan said.
"I get. It seems your life is straight and flat. There is no love, right?"
"I don't understand women much less love" Farhan replied.
Lisa pensively for a moment. It turns out that this is the answer behind the cruelty of a Farhan Budiman. He lived without love or family. And it's been since he was a kid.
"Thank you for telling me everything, now I know how to change you. Even if it's hard, I'll teach you to know love and compassion."
Lisa's smile curled sweetly. Where Farhan subconsciously returned that smile while saying,
"Thank you."
"Sama-sama, but I'm still upset with Hermawan's father. Can I hate him?"
"Don't!"
"But because of Hermawan's father, you grew up to be the son of a monster like this." Lisa summarizes Farhan—'s face. Her bead eyes were crooked and still did not accept the reality that her husband was going through.
"Reyno once said, if he were in the position of Hermawan's father, he would probably do the same. Killed my real father who had abused his lover. Although I still hate Hermawan's father a little, but I'm trying to let go of all that grudge. I want to forgive, because if I hadn't been banished, maybe I wouldn't have reached this point of success."
That is how Farhan took the wisdom behind his dark time. Lisa nodded in understanding and confirmed.
"Yes too, no man can accept seeing his loved ones being harassed by others. Then I don't hate you," Lisa changed her mind.
"Basic plin-plan," taunted Farhan.
The man took the remote and turned off the room lights. Then smile in a dim light. For some reason, he felt relieved after telling his wife. Like the mountain that had been weighing down all this time had been detached.
There is a warm sensation in the chest. Is that what you call affection?
