KANAYA
05. about zayn.

Faridh was a good man. He is good at talking and very polite to women. From what I caught when I spoke to him, he was among those who were devout in his religion. I was lucky enough to meet him. After all we chat we're pretty connected and I'm comfortable with him.

“I heard you work in this city. Where do you work?” Ask.

“I work at a book publishing company. Not a big company but hefty salary.” My canda.

We both laughed.

“It looks like you're an independent woman.” Praise Faridh.

“Still. By the way, who do you get my number from?” my many.

“My loving book. He said get it from your aunt.”

“Where do you work, Faridh?”

“Di Bandung's. I work in a small company. Uh, Nay, I'm sorry to go to the toilet for a second, yeah.”

Faridh got up from his chair and rushed to the toilet. I enjoyed the restaurant because I was hungry. I was shocked when the table shook which turned out to be the vibration coming from Faridh's phone. Several times his phone shook and died. I didn't dare touch it because for me the phone is personal. Soon Faridh returned and sat in his chair again.

“Faridh, your phone was on. There may be a phone call.” My word.

Faridh rushed to check his phone. His face looked serious. He said goodbye to me for a moment while calling. I saw him from a distance the look on his serious face. Maybe a job, I thought. I continued my eating until Faridh returned. The serious look on his face turned relaxed when he met me. I think Faridh feels comfortable with me too. I don't know but most likely our relationship will continue in a more serious direction. I hope so.

I saw my watch, it was getting late. We finished our dinner and rushed home. Faridh got up from his seat and asked me to wait for him in front of the restaurant when he picked up his car. I stopped Faridh's steps when I saw that his phone was still on the table.

“It. Your phone missed.” My word.

Faridh looked panicked and quickly snatched away the phone that was still in my grasp. All right, that's pretty suspicious. I tried not to think about it anymore but apparently Faridh felt bad for me so we just kept quiet on the way home. Faridh drove me home. It didn't take long, the car started to stop in front of my house. I thanked him for driving me home and pretending to be okay. Faridh smiled and waved his hand at me. I stood on the porch of my house while looking at his disappearance. I immediately went into the house and changed clothes.

“You think Faridh is weird, Un?” ask me over the phone.

I called Uni right away after taking a shower and getting dressed. I told you about the meeting with Faridh and how he behaved when he took his phone out of my hand.

“Hmm...odd as well hell.” Short words.

“She looked panicked when I held her phone.”

“There are three possibilities why men do not like their phones held by women. First, he felt that cell phones were a very personal thing for him. Second, maybe he already has a girlfriend.”

“That's what I'm worried about. Do I have to find out first, yes, about Faridh?”

“Should. Before you fell in love with her. Do you want to be disappointed again?”

“Yes, you really, Un. By the way, what third possibility?”

“Oh. The third possibility is Faridh nyimpen porn videos on his phone ahahaha..”.

“Ah, you crazy son of a bitch!”

Uni hung up the phone while laughing. But what the Union said was true about the second possibility. I decided to find out about Faridh through the person I trusted, Tony. I called him and asked him to help me. It just so happened that Faridh came from the village next door and Tony said it was not a difficult thing because Faridh's mother, Bu Endah, was quite famous in his village. Tony was willing to help me in exchange for the latest PS 4 he wanted and I accepted. Tony is very good at finding out and he's a person I trust a lot, although sometimes his attitude is a bit annoying. I put my phone on the bedside table. I just closed my eyes and tried to sleep when my phone rang again. I saw whatsapp's message from Faridh. He asked me what time I left for work and offered to take me to work. I am glad to accept his offer. And that's how I'll know what Faridh really looks like.

I packed my work equipment when I heard the sound of a car horn ringing. I opened my door and I saw Faridh standing in front of my house. I rushed to him too.

“Aready?” ask her while smiling.

I'm nodding. Faridh opened the car door for me. I went in and sat down next to him. The car walked slowly towards the office according to my directions. Faridh is very good at driving. He asked me if I was going to have breakfast or not but I decided to go straight to the office without breakfast first. Arriving at the office, Faridh said goodbye to me. He had to return to Bandung to work because his retirement was over.

“I'll see you again next week. Don't worry.”  Entertained.

“Good idea. Then I say goodbye, yes.” He said then got in the car.

I waved my hand at him and said goodbye. Unknowingly the Union was already standing beside me.

“That's Faridh?” tanyakanya.

I nodded, still staring at Faridh's car that was driving away.

“Ganteng too, huh? Ati-ati will fall in love actually.” Reprovedly.

“If yes why?” my many.

“We don't know if he has a girlfriend yet. Yes, right?” smith again.

My smile faded when I remembered that. I was waiting for news from Tony but as long as it didn't hurt if I built chemistry between myself and Faridh. Uni pulled my hand and entered the office. My work is not so much right now that I relax more at my desk. I don't know what to feel, be happy or even worry about. The book publishing office will be in trouble when the editor does not edit any manuscripts. I also approached Dody's room. I saw from the window he was busy with his phone. Slowly knock on the door and I open it when Mr. Dody invites me in. Without further ado, I sat down in the front seat of his desk and asked questions.

“Pak, why am I unemployed? We want to go bankrupt, huh?” ask me without a tent instead.

“Away with you talking!” the answer.

“Terus why can I be unemployed? Is there no script coming in? Then we really will go bankrupt dong.”

“Not bankrupt, really. Only yes, there is no script coming in. Last order was yes yesterday, no more.”

“So we have to how dong, sir?”

“This is also me again think, Nay. We lost to other publishers. Mending you back to your desk, try to help think. It's out there! I'm more dizzy when I see you, Nay.”

I snorted in annoyance. I got up and walked out of Dody's office. All the employees in the office looked at me as I walked out of the room as if hoping I would say something that would calm them down. I just walked up to my desk without saying anything. I didn't even look them in the eye because I didn't know what to say. Uni did the same thing, he looked at me who was sitting quietly in my chair.

“We're broke, huh?” ask Uni.

I shook my head, “ don't know.”

I saw Mr. Dody coming out of his room and walking out of the office. His puffy body did not prevent him from walking quickly towards the exit. The employees just stared at his departure without anyone daring to speak. A few minutes passed, I got a short message from Mr. Dody.

Employees are allowed to leave early. We'll meet tomorrow. Significant. Please tell me, yes, Nay.

Oh, naw. It looks like this company is really going bankrupt. I stood up from my chair and took a deep breath.

“Consider everything! Mr. Dody came home earlier today. We have an important meeting tomorrow. So much and thank you.” My word.

“Nay, we will go bankrupt, yes?”

“Kok sir Dody didn't say anything?”

“Yes, geez. I'm not ready to be unemployed.”

Those are some of the words that come out of the employees. I tried to calm them down and reassure them that the company would be fine. Although I myself am not sure of that but this is not the first time our company has experienced this kind of thing. Publishing companies are fiercely competitive and require the trust of writers. But Mr. Dody usually always gets ideas and solutions for situations like this. I hope this time he can solve this problem as well.

Me and the other employees left the office. I see my watch still showing at 12:00 WIB. I have no plans today especially after Faridh returned to Bandung. I also decided to go home. My phone rang when I was in the taxi. I saw Faridh sending me a short message asking for my whereabouts. I replied to him and we started sending short messages. Without notice, the taxi stopped in front of my house. I got out of the taxi and walked into the house. I was shocked when I saw a man I knew sitting on my porch. He stood up when he heard me coming and walked up to me with a smile.

“Hai, Naya. How are you?”

“Julian!”
