18: Getting Mature

The night was getting late, but it did not discourage Jessica to practice her skills in using firearms.

The girl firmly grasped a gun with both hands. Directing at the red dot that will be the target of his shooting. His gaze focused only on a red dot drawn on the board.

But tonight, with ease the sentence was thrown from Luhan's lips. Surprisingly, Jessica pulled the corner of her lips. The girl got up from her position and approached Luhan.

Luhan squinted his eyes seeing Jessica brandishing her little finger, the girl snorted in annoyance. Jessica roughly pulled Luhan's hand and hooked their pinky.

Seeing Jessica's sincere smile made Luhan join in smiling as well, Jessica was silent and fixated. Living 1 year with Luhan, this was the first time he had seen the young man smile even though his smile was only as thin as a paper 'What an unusual sight, ' Jessica said.

The smile on Luhan's lips faded as he recalled what the woman's doctor had said. The doctor who treated Jessica when she had a high fever.

"Jess, I have something to tell you. It might hurt a lot, but I hope you can take it" Luhan said in a heavy voice, indicating that he was serious about his words. Jessica looked up and looked at Luhan questioningly.

"About what??"

"Your father," Luhan answered quickly.

"It's definitely about his death, isn't it? I already knew. Bian told me." Jessica wiped away the tears that fell on her cheeks.

"Do you know?" surprised Luhan.

Jessica nodded. "The reason why I've been out lately is because of that. I wanted to calm down and find a diversion, I went to Bian and my other friends so I could forget about the sadness. I thought too much about it until I got sick." Jessica lowered her face.

Her tears could no longer be shed. "I live now. I don't have anyone else but Bian. She was my best friend since childhood, she was the only family I had."

Luhan took two steps toward Jessica, the young man grabbed Jessica by the nape and carried the girl into his arms

"You're not alone, you still have me, Kris gege and Sehun. We are your family, as you consider L, you can also think of me as your sister" Luhan said as he rubbed Jessica's back in an up-and-down motion.

It was like there was a disrespect in Jessica's heart when Luhan asked her to think of herself as an older sister. Luhan himself was uncomfortable with his request.

Could Luhan and Jessica both want more than an older sister? I don't know, only time can tell.

Jessica started to calm down. Luhan released his embrace, his fingers wiping away the remaining tears on the girl's face.

"It's late at night, we'd better get in. You also look tired," said Luhan who was immediately nodding back by Jessica.

The two walked together leaving the park, where they had been training. There is a sense of warmth that spreads, fulfilling Jessica's feelings, it still feels difficult to believe if the relationship and Luhan getting better and better. Their relationship has been so bad all along.
