Legend of the Moon Sword

Legend of the Moon Sword
Devil bats (2).

The sound of a bang was clearly heard from the middle of the village. The sand flew like ash, spreading to the end of the village. The citizens were worried about what was going to happen, the sound of commotion had not completely disappeared.

Shu Cao was at the very front, leading and protecting the villagers. His head was raised with the palm covering his mouth because the ash from the flying sand could make breathing obstructed.

A roaring sound rang out again, this time more ferocious. It seems like the demon has not lost. Zhi Yuo came out from the curtain of ashes, revealing himself who was still setting his breath. His back was crushed from hitting the ground, but he was still able to stand up straight. Fortunately Zhi Yuo had quick reflexes.

When Zhi Yuo glanced upwards, the full moon was completely covered in clouds. Because moonlight was his main energy, so he was a bit overwhelmed due to lack of energy. But that doesn't matter, considering it already absorbs a few percent of the moonlight.

The bat demon rose from the ground jutting inwards, where it fell along with Zhi Yuo.

Zhi Yuo put up the horses, took a deep breath and exhaled them in an instant. Now he needs to focus on this fight.

The bat demon flew upwards, almost touching the sky. Right after he was up there, he threw himself down to attack Zhi Yuo.

Zhi Yuo had just realized he was taking the wrong position. Exactly a few steps back is a bamboo garden where villagers hide. Therefore he had to block this demon attack in order to protect the citizens.

His legs formed sturdy horses, Zhi Yuo tightened all the muscles and joints on his body.

The bat demon finally gave a streak of attacks that made Zhi Yuo retreat a few meters back. Offsetting his large body, Zhi Yuo relied on all his strength as well as the bamboo spear he was sharpening as much as possible. But it broke in the blink of an eye.

Not out of sense, Zhi Yuo used all the power in his hands to throw the bat demon. And the throw made a path, far enough away from him to stand.

Zhi Yuo's breathing was going down at that moment. This was indeed terrifying, even in the past a demon like this was no match for him. But now he realized that when he was reborn, his stamina changed as well. This was not his body, but his soul moving this body.

Zhi Yuo screeched when he saw the spear he had been honing for half a day had been destroyed. This is the risk of fighting the devil not using a sword.

The villagers shouted to him from behind the bamboo rows, Zhi Yuo knew that. Shu Cao was the frontmost among them, staring at Zhi Yuo with a mixed look. Between worry, fear, and horror at the same time.

Zhi Yuo gave a wide smile, which meant that he would defeat the demon what would happen.

The bat demon had a considerable amount of stamina, it rose again and again, re-attacking Zhi Yuo. But his movements were rather slow, this was due to injuries all over his body that hindered his strength.

Zhi Yuo did not have any weapons at the moment, so inevitably he had to play cat-mouse with this bat demon. Run, jump from roof to roof, hide even though he will eventually be caught too.

Quite funny indeed, but Zhi Yuo did that to buy time. He intended to find sharp objects to fight the demon, but nil.

After 3 hours of chasing the demon, Zhi Yuo leaned against the wall of one of the villagers' house. His lungs no longer functioned. For 3 consecutive hours he chased the demon without taking a deep breath.

But his fatigue instantly disappeared when the sound of a bang again occurred. The demon did not chase him for a few minutes, then went in any direction because it lost track.

Zhi Yuo jumped onto the roof, his gaze staring back and forth. And what he found was a puff of ash in the north. Without a second thought, Zhi Yuo directly ran over there to make sure.

"Hey! You all wake up!!"

Two people scattered among the rubble of the house. Their bodies each had wide wounds. The magic swordsmen were overwhelmed when fighting the bat demons.

The chief among them was flustered half-dead when he saw one of his comrades was about to be devoured by a bat demon. His colleague was not dead yet, clearly visible when he called out the name of his boss in a raucous voice.

The boss of the magic swordsmen wanted to run away from that place, leaving all his comrades behind and intending to run away. But that action did not happen when a shadow suddenly shot before him.

"Whoa-what's that.."

The boss of the magic swordsmen was speechless when he realized the sword on his waist had disappeared. When he looked back, what he found was the body of a teenager who was turning his back on him.

"Hmmm..." There was the sound of the boy muttering.

Zhi Yuo flipped through the magic swordsman, smiling with satisfaction after he found out that the sword was sharpened well.

"I finally found a sword. Hey sir, I'll take this."

The boss of the swordsman group just kept quiet from being too shocked. While Zhi Yuo saw how the bat demon was about to devour one of the warriors there. But the swordsman survives by restraining the bat demon's mouth from eating it. Those canine teeth are scary.

Zhi Yuo grinned widely, "I'll help you guys, just calm down."

But then he glanced back, staring at the boss of the warriors cynically.

"But I'm sorry if your friend dies."

Zhi Yuo formed a pattern from the sword he was holding, then unsheathed it at high speed towards the demon.

The moonlight came back out from the cloud blanket, right after Zhi Yuo pushed the demon with his sword, attacking him in a row. There was no longer any doubt, he had a sword in his hand as long as he swung it well.

Laughter loudly came out from Zhi Yuo's mouth, his sense of spirit and his rapidly rustling blood flow caused his movements to become undetectable. It moves fast like a slender that spins at night.

The bat demon wanted to dodge, but it was useless when Zhi Yuo was already grasping the sword. Zhi Yuo's personality back then was fiercer than a demon, more vile than a demon. He was like a swordsman who had longed for battle.

Moreover, the full moon's rays illuminated them at that moment.

"Son Shu Cao! Shu Cao's son!".

Shu Cao looked back right after his name was called. Right in the midst of that frenzied crowd, a middle-aged woman called out to him with tears streaming down from her eyes.

"Son Shu Cao! My boy! My son's left!".

Shu Cao could hear that clearly, and he immediately gave a surprised expression. Why when the devil and Zhi Yuo fight?!.

Shu Cao calmed down, "Well, I'll look for him until I see you. The others stay here until it's safe!".

Shu Cao came out from the bamboo forest line, then walked down the village street in a hurry. His eyes narrowed due to the ash caused the fierce fight between Zhi Yuo and the bat demon. Moreover, the streets were now severely damaged, and that made Shu Cao difficult.

He kept his distance from the fight and tried to calm himself. He had to find the boy.

As long as he searched the residents' house, Shu Cao found nothing. But after how long he searched carefully, he heard sobs from a room in a house.

Shu Cao walked in slowly, peeking out from the cubicle wall, and he was able to breathe a sigh of relief when he found a little girl crying for her mother.

"Hey, did you lose your mother?" Shu Cao asked in a calming tone.

The little girl stopped crying, only sobbing a little. He looked towards Shu Cao with his watery round eyes, then nodded in fear.

Shu Cao developed his smile, "Come here, I will take you to where your mother is."

The little girl's expression became delighted when she heard it. He jumped into Shu Cao's arms.

Shu Cao carried the little girl, then came out in a hurry. But he was shocked by the horde of something flying over him.

"W-what...?"

Shu Cao just ran after he learned the horde of creatures were chasing him. He did not release the little girl from his arms, running fiercely towards the bamboo garden.

"Go in there! Hurry along!!".

The little girl came down from Shu Cao's embrace, she hurriedly ran towards the bamboo line which was no longer far from her.

The swarm of bats flew over Shu Cao's head which fell on the ground. Shu Cao can see that the size of the bat horde is larger than the size of the bat in general, and they have red eyes and long fangs.

The swarm of bats simultaneously attacked Shu Cao. Sucking his blood and ripping his body apart. Shu Cao cried out in pain, his body ached from being torn to shreds. It was like a fish coming out of the water, and it was witnessed directly in front of the villagers.

When Shu Cao had weakened, the horde of little bat demons raised its body simultaneously, floating its weak body in the air.

The villagers did not have much hope after that. A resigned expression was clearly visible on their faces, and they could do nothing when Shu Cao was attacked by a pack of bats.

Shu Cao still had more consciousness, he tightened all the muscles of his body until his entire body accentuated the path of the veins.

The group of small bat demons felt threatened, they slammed Shu Cao onto the ground, dodging in order to protect themselves.

Shu Cao's body had many torn wounds that were gaping wide, but he still straightened his back.

A sudden sense of anger lingered on his chest, draining his blood faster.

Shu Cao faced the bat-devil group, raising his hand at extra speed to one of the creatures. Strangled him to death and slammed him to the ground.

The bat crowd felt a great pressure back then, especially when Shu Cao killed one of their friends with a sharp glare. It's like it's not human.

The bat pack directly attacked him right then and there. But I don't know why they were like an ant when faced with the boy.

Shu Cao raised his fists, his feet, then his claws to strike back at the bat demon pack.

The squealing from the group of small bat demons was earthy. Shu Cao's fingers quickly reached for their bodies, strangled them and slammed them to the ground and stepped on them.

The group gradually dwindled because most of them died. They split up to avoid Shu Cao's attack.

Jemari Shu Cao reached one of the bat bodies that were still in place. He quickly tore off the bat's wings and slammed them in any direction.

"Relax.." Shu Cao's voice rang out, with feet stepping towards the bamboo line.

"I'll protect you."

The clinking of the sword echoed at night. The bat demon was paralyzed at that time, unable to stand up anymore nor flapping its wings.

Zhi Yuo looked at him from a distance, with a fiery red look of eyes signifying a grudge flush.

Seeing the bat demon he was fighting weakened with wounds here and there, a wide grin adorned Zhi Yuo's lips.

The tip of the sword pointed at that bat demon. Zhi Yuo looked at him with a look full of bloodlust.

"I swear I'll kill all the demons like you. So give up now."

Zhi Yuo stomped his feet to the ground, he leaped up high until it felt like he was going to touch the sky. Under the full moon shining down on him, Zhi Yuo's sword swing broke the whir of the wind. The body slid from above with a pattern of attacks that looked unbreakable. This is the end of the fight.

The head of the bat demon was thrown several meters away with blood spurting from its neck. His body stiffened for a while, but soon fell to the ground.

Zhi Yuo let out a breath from his mouth, glancing back to see the results of all his training during this time.

The demon is dead.

The sound of chickens crowing, orange rays slowly adorned the sky in the eastern part. The morning begins, the sun will rise higher and higher.

There was the sound of cheering from a distance. Zhi Yuo turned his gaze towards the villagers who approached him with joyful faces and applause.

"Thank you sir! You saved us!".

"God always bless you! You are too great, young master!".

"Oh.. Are you the messenger of the heavens? Really, I'm so grateful to you..!".

Tears poured out from the eyes of the villagers, their faces looking boundless delight.

Zhi Yuo commented on his smile, he lowered his sword until the sword eye touched the ground. His body was bathed in blood, the blood of struggle over everything he did.

He promised to continue like this, protecting everyone he loved.

Shu Cao came among the crowd with a body full of wounds. His path was limping, he was drained of blood.

Zhi Yuo glanced, "What happened to you?".

Shu Cao turned his gaze towards Zhi Yuo, and he replied with a ignorant grin.

"Only ordinary wounds, do not think about it."

"Sister!!"

Shu Cao turned his head quickly towards the source of the voice. The little girl he saved ran towards him, hugging him tightly at once.

"So great sister! Thanks for saving me!".

Shu Cao's eyes sparkled as the girl thanked him.

"Ah..it's nothing, i-" Instantly Shu Cao becomes stuttered. But the villagers immediately greeted him with smiles and compliments.

"Shu Cao is great and strong, thank you for protecting us."

"You're so cool fighting all those little bats!!".

"Your aunt must be proud to see you from up there, thank you Shu Cao."

Suddenly Shu Cao's heart felt shrouded in tenderness. His eyes did not stop showing a twinkle of happiness as well as admiration. Seeing everyone thank him made his heart move.

Can it continue like this? A sense of wanting to protect suddenly perched on his chest.

Zhi Yuo gave his smile to Shu Cao. The boy worked hard, he did his best.

"Sir, this potion must be taken twice a day for your wound to get better soon."

Zhi Yuo received a bowl of potions from the healer. It was now the day before noon, everyone was abuzz to fix the village facilities that were destroyed due to the overnight fight.

Shu Cao sat on the couch, looking out the window of the healer's house. His body was weak from too many wounds.

Suddenly the door of the healer's house opened wide, someone walked inside with large strides. The healer who knew who the person who went inside started greeting politely.

"What did the village chief come here for?".

Zhi Yuo faced the village chief. The man who had started to age lowered his head to look at Zhi Yuo.

Zhi Yuo was about to greet the village chief, but was immediately obstructed by the village chief himself.

"Son, are you the one who managed to ease the problems in this village?".

When he heard the question, Zhi Yuo nodded slowly. He was confused as to what the village chief would do.

The village chief commented a smile to her, "What do you want for payment? Think of it as our gratitude as the villagers."

Hearing that, Zhi Yuo directly waved his hand.

"W-what are you saying? I am just a newcomer, not entitled to accept such a thing!".

The village chief replied, "You deserve it. I'll pay you more, want a newcomer or a native of this village I'll pay a balanced fee for him."

Zhi Yuo was shocked as the village chief cupped his hands together and bowed before Zhi Yuo.

"Thank you, swordsman."

The voice of the people sounded simple. Any humiliation was thrown at the four great warriors who stood in front of the crowd of villagers.

Their heads lowered, hearing all the mockery from the mouths of the villagers. They were humiliated in public that morning as well.

Zhi Yuo stood at the very end of the crowd, chuckling wryly when he heard all forms of humiliation being thrown by the public.

The four people were not magic warriors, they were just northern area bandits in disguise. Hearing of problems in an eastern village, they were determined to reap the benefits there.

Zhi Yuo had already predicted this would happen. Their movements are also suspicious.

Shu Cao suddenly came next to him, looking at him cynically. Though Zhi Yuo did not look for trouble first.

"What do you want after this?" Shu Cao asked.

Zhi Yuo flicked his shoulders, "Go to practice, what else?".

Shu Cao gave a rude snort when he heard it. Zhi Yuo chuckled at Shu Cao's back.

"Just calm down, after this you will live as usual. I'm gonna get out of here."

But Shu Cao's expression instantly turned furious. His brows bent sharply, his eyes glancing at Zhi Yuo.

"You think after I lose my family I'll live my life as usual?!".

Zhi Yuo was stunned, did he misspoke?.

"Then? What do you want?".

Shu Cao growled, he threw his face in any direction.

"I'll come with you." - Shu Cao.

"Huh!?" - Zhi Yuo.

"I said I'd come with you, damn it!" - Shu Cao.
