The Gu Family

The sun began to rise higher. The people in the Gu residence started to carry out their work, including the servants.

On this cold morning, Zhi Yuo and Xie Jia got the task of cleaning the backyard. Yan Yan Yan gave them a fairly easy task, while himself decided to clean the clothes. Lin Mei had not been seen since, some say she was cleaning up because of her hair falling from a rat carcass.

There had been no chatter since earlier between Zhi Yuo and Xie Jia, they were focused on their respective work. No, maybe only Zhi Yuo was unfocused. From then on he kept daydreaming, scratching his own head, then dipping here and there.

"What did I actually do this morning?.. ".

Xie Jia stopped the sweeping activity of the courtyard, then noticed Zhi Yuo and asked, "What's wrong with you sis?".

Zhi Yuo who heard that shook his head, however, he did not directly look into Xie Jia's eyes looking at him with a wondering look. Xie Jia who got the answer from the head of Zhi Yuo's arm, tried not to care anymore. He flicked his shoulders and swept back.

Actually what was on Zhi Yuo's mind was, when he woke up from his sleep unconsciously he was holding a rat. It was Lin Mei who looked at him in horror. Xie Jia and Yan Yan were sprawled on the floor with expressions of heavy shock. Zhi Yuo who saw the situation reflexively threw the mouse he was holding, was about to approach Lin Mei who instantly blurred as she approached.

Yan Yan gave her a look of horror, while Xie Jia fell silent in her place and did not say anything.

"What am I really doing? ".

"Sister Yuo, if you daydream, you will be punished by senior Lin." Xie Jia reprimanded.

Zhi Yuo regained his senses, he blinked a few times before nodding and moving his broom. He hesitated to ask, but finally he asked because he was too curious.

"Uh... Look.. What happened to me after I woke up?".

Xie Jia who heard that was silent for a while, had made Zhi Yuo panic because he thought that he had just revealed his true identity.

Xie Jia raised next to her brows, "You threw senior Lin with a rat carcass,"

"uh? that only?" Zhi Yuo looked in disbelief.

"Hm," Xie Jia replied soberly.

"Ah, thank God my identity is still safe," There was a sense of relief smuggling in his heart.

"I'm glad that I accidentally learned a little lesson from that senior, hehe." Zhi Yuo nodded happily.

Xie Jia looked at Zhi Yuo from a distance. His gaze was hard to decipher as he looked at Zhi Yuo who was laughing alone. No, he did not think Zhi Yuo was crazy for laughing without cause, but he was confused by the words Zhi Yuo said earlier this morning.

"What does it mean that he always protects women?Is she not a woman herself? " Think Xie Jia.

" Xie Jia," Zhi Yuo called out his name. Xie Jia turned her head and replied, "What's the matter?".

Zhi Yuo approached him. As he got closer, he began to whisper, "Since I'm still too new here, may I ask you? Can I tell you a little story about this family?."

Xie Jia who heard that blinked her eyes in confusion, she tilted her head slightly looking at Zhi Yuo's face who was putting on a silly smile.

Zhi Yuo chuckled, "I won't tell anyone, I promise."

Xie Jia clucked, "You don't need to tell anyone everything you know already."

Sighing deeply, Xie Jia was ready to tell him even the little he knew about the Gu family.

"Mr Gu is a big businessman in the village, he has many branches of his business. He had a wife, but his first wife was dead and now he is married again. But I don't have any children yet,"

Zhi Yuo nodded, "Then?".

"His wife's name is Gu Fei, she comes here once a month. They were indeed separated from home, and Lady Fei always brought special medicine for Mr. Gu every time he came back here." Xie Jia continued.

"Oh. it turns out that the wife cares about her husband." Zhi Yuo.

Then Zhi Yuo asked again, "When did Lady Gu Fei come here?".

" ah? In a few days' time he'll be here." Xie Jian replied.

Hearing that made Zhi Yuo's smile expand with a rancid face, "What beauty is his wife? Will he be fascinated by my handsome face when he sees me? ".

"Xie Jia, when you were just working here were you told to sleep in the barn?"

"I was finally granted freedom. I don't work at Mr. Gu's residence, but I work to be a subordinate to the servants. The servant's residence is separate from Mr. Gu's. If it's a little wrong at work, I. I can be hit-".

"Don't tell me more," Zhi Yuo cut in a flat tone. He looked at Xie Jia intently, "Don't force yourself to open up something that makes you remember pain."

Xie Jia reflexively stopped her story. Somehow he felt panicked and hurriedly recounted his own pain.

Zhi Yuo smiled, patting Xie Jia on the head.

"As long as there's me, I make sure Lin Mei won't hit you."

Xie Jia was startled, with a look of astonishment he stared at the towering figure of Zhi Yuo higher than his small body. Xie Jia replied with her sweet smile, she felt helped and protected now.

"Sister Yuo, we have to clear this up now because Mr. Gu has a meeting later." Xie Jia took back the broom she had originally held.

Zhi Yuo nodded, switched on his broom as well and started to clean up the dried leaves that had fallen off. But his gaze was sidetracked on something on a tree branch.

Xie Jia approached, her head looking up. Not a few minutes later he shouted happily, "That's a bird's nest! There's gotta be chicks just hatched!".

Xie Jia jumped up happily, it felt like he wanted to take the nest up there. But he knew he couldn't do that.

The mother bird came out of the nest, her great-grandson sound blaring before she flapped her wings and flew. But he did not realize that his own nest had crashed due to the pressure from his body.

Xie Jia screamed as the nest of tiny birds floated in the air preparing to hit the ground. There was nothing he could do but close his own eyes so as not to see what was to come.

While Zhi Yuo who saw that immediately took action. Reflexively he raised his broom, his legs opened to form horses. With one move, he pulled the handle of his broom forward. It was moving very fast, like it was breaking the wind.

The bird's nest landed perfectly on the handle of its broom. The fate of the small birds in the nest was saved.

Zhi Yuo sighed in relief. He did so unconsciously, his heartbeat racing double.

Xie Jia opened her eyes, finding the position of Zhi Yuo who was pressing the handle of her broom to save the bird's nest. His position was clearly as if he was wielding a weapon.

Xie Jia was stunned for a while, before she finally regained her senses and took the bird's nest on the handle of the broom.

"Little birds, are you all right?" Xie Jia looked worried.

Zhi Yuo wiped the sweat that was pouring down his forehead. Move it was indeed because of reflexes, but he was already sweating like this even though just by doing the move.

"That means my martial arts are still there, albeit a little bit but I can train it." Zhi Yuo said inwardly.

"Sister Yuo, that was so cool." Xie Jia praised in astonishment.

Zhi Yuo wavered, he was confused as to what to answer.

"Ah.no, that.. My father used to be able to sword, and it was a little passed down to me.. "

What a messy book. Even so, Xie Jia looked happy and excited.

"Then I want to be taught by you! Can you?" Xie Jia begged and it overwhelmed Zhi Yuo to face Xie Jia's childish nature.

"Well, sometime. Now let's get this bird's nest back to its place."

Xie Jia nodded, but then he asked, "How did it go? I can't climb."

Zhi Yuo thought for a moment. Then he came up with the idea and started squatting down, "Get on my shoulder."

Hearing that made Xie Jia startled, "Eh? Gotta be?".

Zhi Yuo gave a lazy look, "She can't climb, then what else to use?."

Since there was no other choice, Xie Jia quickly climbed onto Zhi Yuo's back hesitantly. Zhi Yuo started to stand up, while Xie Jia maintained her balance.

"I'm sorry I'm heavy.. " Xie Jia said softly.

Hearing that Zhi Yuo chuckled, "You're light, don't worry about it."

"Senior Lin, there's new news from Lady Gu Fei."

Lin Mei turned her back to face one of the maids.

"What's wrong?".

The waiter bowed and said, "Miss Gu Fei will hasten his visiting schedule, maybe within three days he will be here."

Lin Mei fell silent, before long she smiled hearing this news.

"I'm glad to hear that, Will Lady Gu Fei be sending her medicine sooner?" He asked in a happy-sounding tone.

The waiter replied, "Yes senior, the medicine is already on the way."

Lin Mei smiled, "Alright, if you've come tell me."

The waiter bowed once more and paid his respects to leave. While he left Lin Mei alone. Lin Mei stared at the clear color of the fish pond, a mysterious smile expanding on her face.

"I am very much looking forward to your arrival, Lady Gu Fei."
