If a mobster like Raiden had a lot of enemies, maybe everyone wouldn't be surprised. However, it is different if it is Zafia. Raiden does not understand what the cause is, but the more he gets to know and is close to Zafia further away, he feels Zafia's life has always been a target.
Today the brown envelope that came is already proof that Zafia's safety is being targeted by someone, but who? that's still Raiden's question.
"You tightened Zafia's guard. I don't know who the obvious enemy is we need to be even more vigilant."
"Good, Boss." Raiden took a long breath. The contents in the brown envelope were just photos of Zafia, but they were taken at close range. Raiden believes they're a professional cabal.
"That's so hard, Fia, she didn't realize her life was being threatened."
Raiden's back in the apartment. Zafia. His face may look ordinary, but his brain is working hard. His eyes stared at every corner of Zafia's room. He's worried that the apartment has an intruder.
"Ray, what are you doing?"
"You awake?"
"Not yet, I'm still dreaming" replied Zafia. Raiden smiled faintly hearing the girl's reply. "You haven't answered my question. What are?"
"Searching for something. I have to make sure you're safe."
"What else is it?"
"Have you ever gotten into trouble with someone?"
"Often."
"Huh?" Raiden was a little surprised by Zafia's reply.
"Why?" ask Zafia with a full glance.
"Nothing?"
"You know about that brown envelope?" Raiden was surprised by Zafia's words.
"Yes. Maybe the one in your hand is already the umpteenth envelope that came this month."
"Do you know who it is?"
"No, but I've been following one of those envelope senders. He went into the post office. When I asked, the sender said that he was just told to deliver the envelope to this apartment. From that moment on I didn't care. I don't know what the original sender meant. Maybe he's my secret admirer, too."
"Are you sure you're just a secret admirer?"
"Come, Ray. I don't want to think much. If it's true that he wanted to harm me, he should have shot me in the head a long time ago or shot me in the heart. Because obviously I don't realize where he is."
Raiden was silent, right what Zafia said. If he's after the girl's life, why don't he execute Zafia yesterday, but he won't take any chances by reducing his vigilance. Instead he should start raising his guard. Don't let your guard down.
"What are you thinking, Ray?"
"Nothing."
Zafia wriggled for a moment then got up from her seat, she walked towards her room. Before he opened the door, Zafia turned to look at Raiden.
"Don't think too much, Ray. You better think about your own safety. I know you were hurt a while ago. I saw the bandage on your arm."
"It's just a small wound to me."
"Hopefully," said Zafia. Raiden chuckles. Zafia went into her room. Raiden looked pensive. All this time he had known Zafia, but only from the outside. He doesn't know Zafia from the inside.
For Raiden, Zafia's attitude and nature are sometimes too gray for him. He sometimes feels very familiar with Zafia, but sometimes he feels Zafia is very difficult to guess. Raiden still needs time to really understand the Zafia inside and out.
