On this drizzling Friday night, like an uninvited hornet, Biotama Bernadus suddenly came to my house without giving any news before. I was just finished bathing in a crowd approaching him who had been mama jamu in the living room. With the intention of his sudden arrival, the man said he had no friends to go with and chose to take me out to dinner.
At first I was about to refuse his invitation because I had dinner before but my mother immediately grabbed my words and told me to hurry so that Bio did not wait for me longer. Under the eyes threatening my mother, I was forced to go back to my room and pick up my knit sweater to coat the pajamas I was wearing. We left shortly after I got off with my mama's ultimatum on Bio so I could be escorted home before ten p.m.
Bio did not explain anything about where we were going this time, the man just said that I would definitely like the destination of his choice. After that Bio chose to silence his mouth along the journey with me who was still fumbling where he was going to take me away these nights. After a long drive, fortune Bio finally stopped on Solo road, I straightened my body and blinked several times when I saw a tent stall that was not so foreign in my memory was not far from where Bio parked his car. There was just a part of my chest that throbbed in pain when my brain managed to remember that place. My neck reflexively turned towards Bio, "You? Do you know this place?" I said while squeezing my hands tightly. The man took off his seatbelt and paid attention to me.
Without being told by Bio to release my seatbelt, "Your question is as if you've been here before" he said.
I bit my lips, "I-I've been here a lot" I said in a slow, gulping voice, I looked straight ahead precisely at the famous warteg known as Duta Rasa which is currently crowded with buyers with heavy breaths. "Udah used to be so but." I added without turning my gaze.
"A-pa? Yes, often."
I turned to Bio, "All the places that sell satay klatak I've ever come in." I laughed then chuckled, laughter that actually sounded discordant in my ears.
"Oh yeah? So not special dong dinner this time." muttered Bio with a voice that sounded desperate. I chuckled at her pouting expression and patted her on the shoulder a few times to calm her down.
"But I'm surprised you know this place."
Bio stared ahead while gripping the steering wheel tightly, "I've been here with Fei. And compared to other places, satay here is better. Because I know you like satay klatak, I have a plan to invite you here." obviously the man sounded enthusiastic. But inversely proportional to me who was actually stunned, it felt like my heart had just fallen into a stomach as soon as I heard his words. How not, I who initially felt special because I was picked up directly from home for dinner with the future realized that I was no more special than the woman. "But it turns out–"
I rolled my eyes lazily, "But it turns out you talk a lot and make me threatened to die of hunger." as I snatched his words with jutek. I opened the car door next to me, jumped down and slammed the door hard. Bio came down shortly after me, the man came up to me and stood before me while putting his palm in the bag of pants.
"Would you like to eat here?"
"Why not?"
I just glanced at him and walked first into the tent which was quite crowded the arrival of buyers. I picked an empty table whose position was in the corner. "You come here often? How do I not know?" ask Bio. I looked up at him who was taking a chair right next to me.
"Yes." I said still in the same tone.
"Bongs? Aye?"
I automatically turned to the source of the voice that called my first name which suddenly made both my eyes successfully buyak surprise when I saw a familiar figure was looking at me with mixed face. I know, when I set foot back in this place again then it's most likely that I'll meet her too. But even though I had prepared myself in such a way, I was still shocked when I met him for so long. I gulped down my saliva which felt like a pebble, "I-iya. Do the gods remember me?" answer me with a wave.
"Remember it. Time forgets the same loyal customers themselves." he replied without hiding his carefree voice, "How are you, deck?"
I smiled awkwardly, "I'm good. How about myself? It's getting better as if selling." I'm getting used to his presence in front of me.
I was introduced to God's mas about two years ago by someone. Actually mas Dewa is the manager of this Ambassadors Rasa. The tent stall business that he owns is selling typical Yogyakarta culinary and has been successful to successfully open several other branches outside the area even outside the city such as Kalimantan, the birthplace of the Gods themselves. The most recommended food here is actually satay klataknya but that does not mean the other menu is not tasty. It's just that compared to other places, satay klatak here is much better. "Yes that's it." replied the Lord as he rubbed his nape. "Why did you just stop by here, deck?"
I clucked, "Regular." I replied followed by a wry smile. God understood my point and laughed at me.
"Are you more possessive?"
I nodded quickly, "Well, I'll go out for a second. It must be asked to the roots." I said scowling so considering how annoying face mas Io when interrogating me.
"Swimming, deck. If you've met a girl who fits she must have changed."
"Yes, hopefully. Repot in me if he is forever so." I replied and guaranteed in the heart the words uttered by the Lord. Because if mas Io always acts like that to me then I dare to guarantee that besides he will not get a life partner and I will also receive the plagues, considering how possessive Io mas on my social scope.
"Oh yes, the preoccupation of talking until it forgets the order" said the god mas while grimacing unpleasant, "So you guys what message?"
I chuckled at his words then read the food menu on the table after it looked back at God. "I'm the usual but don't forget the fried onions on top of the rice in the banyakin ya, mas." I explained. I just realized the existence of Bio when I saw the eyeballs of God glancing right to my right side. I nudged his arm, "If you pesen what?"
"Just like you."
Bio huffed, "I said same as you." said Bio while raising his tone, which made me reflexively turn towards him because I was surprised to hear his response this time I heard.
I blinked a few times as soon as I saw Bio's jaw seem to tighten. "Oh yes." I said and then nodded. Then I turned back to face the Lord with a grimacing smile. "If so drink iced tea, everything is equalized yes mas."
"Ready. If so, wait for yes, deck." said mas Dewa, after the man was saying goodbye after mentioning our order.
"You familiar?"
I turned to Bio and then nodded, "Yes, I'm known to be equally calm." I said while laughing considering my first meeting with the Lord two years ago. And I didn't expect that time would pass so quickly.
"He works here? Little diwarteg like this?"
I almost knocked his head when I heard the disparaging tone from his voice, "Don't sala–"
"Akrab really chat until he forgot that there is still me here." interrupted Bio suddenly as soon as I was about to explain that in fact the Lord is the owner of this place even classified as a successful businessman. But because I saw Bio's sour face, I didn't argue with him and chose to let him dissolve with his misunderstanding of God's mas.
I looked at him, "You why the hell? That feeling isn't it?" my sudden question made him throw his face in the other direction as soon as I noticed his face.
"Just ask yourself."
"Me?" I unconsciously pointed to myself. I let out a tired sigh, instead of us ending up fighting in the crowd like this I finally chose to lower my ego, "Jude, I'm sorry that's it."
"Make what? What are you wrong?"
"Yes especially if it's not because of your ngacuhin, right? Is there anything else?"
"It's hard to talk to you."
"Bio–" I thinned my lips instantly as soon as Bio's phone rang at times like this. I had a quick glance at his phone on the table and found a call in–which I did not expect–from Fei before in the end the man grabbed his phone quickly and shifted the chair sat. "I came out first" he said then glanced just out of the tent. I stared at his back with a heart-crushing pain.
Someone's cleared his throat, "This is new huh, deck? Pantes was not with Keen anymore." asked the Lord made me turn to him who deftly arranged the food we ordered on the table.
At first I frowned in confusion when I heard his words but once I managed to digest his intent I snorted with a laugh. "We're just friends, mas." I said, shaking my head.
Mas Dewa put on a meaningful smile, "Yaudah, this is the order." he said. "One more serving of satay to add." continued again as soon as I was about to protest when I saw there were three servings of satay on my desk. "And it's free."
"Ih, that's not it." I flicked my hands in front of my chest, the Lord shook his head as soon as I was about to push him back to be taken from the table I occupied. "Yaudah, thank you very much if that is so, mas." I continued with an unpleasant smile on the Lord.
"Eat a lot ya." said mas Dewa and I nodded.
Along with the Dewa mas pampit serving other customers, Bio came and slid his buttocks seat right next to me. I turned to him who without saying much directly ate the food in front of him. "Who called?" I asked after a long time of weighing. I bit my lower lip when I saw his sudden response stopping the movement of his hand that was about to bribe mouthful food as soon as I decided to ask.
Bio never once turned to me, "Nyokap." he said coldly and continued eating. While the answer was unbroken, it made me swallow disappointment in silence.
