Plain Girl Hero of Darkness

Plain Girl Hero of Darkness
Black Flower Dancing on the Death Line - (6)

—The second day of battle.

The first to show deviation was the Second Army. A moment of carelessness resulted in the corner of their defensive line breaking off. The battle-skilled Patrick did not miss this opportunity, and ordered an all-out attack on this pass.

On the other hand, Brad sends a message to Second Lieutenant Laina to fill the void. The reserves had been mobilized, but were stopped by an enemy ambush.

The battle has been decided.

"Your Majesty!"

“They didn't give kiya a chance to fix this gap. The enemy commander is really ruthless."

Brad grabbed his hair violently and said with a wry smile.

“Now is not the time to be impressed by the enemy!”

"You're right. That way, it's only a matter of time before they break through our ranks. When the time comes…"

Brad stiffened his face at that moment.

“You know what's going to happen, right?”

"Then…"

Liz's lips twitched a little.

“Unfortunately, our time is up. We're gonna start an orderly retreat. Take the unit to the Castool lowlands in the east. We can build a strong defensive line there. Before everyone retreats, I'll pin down the enemy here with 3,000 people."

"Yes sir! Leave it to me!"

Colonel Carl-Heinz replied loudly. He is brave and smart, and will act as a back row with Brad.

“Allow me to stay with you until the end ..”

Liz stepped forward and asked to carry out her duties with Brad in a stern tone.

The deep blue eyes under his glasses had an unshakable will. Brad gently patted her slender shoulder and said:

“No, the war is not over. Captain Liz, you have an obligation as my aide to lead the retreat of the army as much as possible. Youunderstand? This is an order."

“There are many suitable candidates, including Major General Adam and many others. An adjutant has the right to refuse an unreasonable order."

“... It's the first time I've heard of it. Is there such a rule in military doctrine?"

Brad tries to recall his time at the military academy, but cannot remember at all. If such a rule did exist, there was no reason not to abuse it during being an aide.

"Nothing, I've just made that rule now."

Liz said something silly with a serious face. Brad forgot about the imminent danger and laughed out loud.

"You dare to joke at a time like this."

“I'm not kidding / I want to fight with Your Majesty until the end.”.

Liz quietly closed her eyes.

“- And die on your side.”

He opened his eyes after saying that, and smiled like a blossoming flower. Liz's smile was strange, like a flower that withered to the touch.

(Who else is slicing onions here? The eyes of pedes.)

Unlike usual, Brad stiffened his face:

"Captain, that's enough. I may not have died here, and I have no intention of dying. As I said, dying for my country is not my style."

"Then I don't see any problems."

Liz's smile brightened up a little, and she leaned against Brad's chest. The sweet aroma permeated into Brad.

“..... Liz, please let go. There's no time. "

“…………”

"Liz?"

“…………”

Liz did not react, and just looked behind Brad in confusion. Brad followed his gaze and—

“Fiuh, I made it in time. I must say, this is a pretty flashy entrance.”

Light flowed down from the gap between the clouds, illuminating the hills in the distance. And on top of that hill was a girl wearing magnificent black armor.

Beside the girl was a flag fluttering in the wind, with a skull and two scythes crossed over it.

When she saw the Valedstorm family flag flying over the hill opposite them, Claudia gripped her telescope tightly with trembling shoulders.

“Hmm, Sergeant Ellis is fine. The flag also stands out, we might be able to deceive the Imperial Army."

Ashton looked at the hill opposite them with satisfaction, while Claudia called him by his full name at one time.

"Ashton Senefelder."

"Remain."

"I have a question for you."

"What the hell is that?"

"I know about Major Olivia's double body. I didn't expect him to dye his hair and wear the same armor, just leave it alone. What happened to the flag? Why have I never heard of them? When did you prepare it?"

Claudia said as she pointed to a banner that read the emblem of the Valedstorm house, as if she was pointing at her nemesis. If you look closely, Claudia's temple twitches, and there's the sound of her telescope cracking as well.

"Olivia stay away from both of them."

"Huh? Lieutenant Claudia, you don't know?”

"That's right, I don't know at all. By the way, do you know about this, Major?"

Claudia asked expressionlessly. By the way Olivia knows. Or rather, he was enthusiastic about it. During her stay at Fort Gracia, Olivia not only agreed to Ashton's proposal, and even happily took part in the flag-making. This was the first time Olivia worked with everyone on something, making it a worthwhile experience.

The guards at first objected, but in the end they heated up when the flag was finished. When Ashton asks a volunteer to become Olivia's double body (disguised as Olivia), Ellis shouts with a gasp of "I am I! Please let me do it!" Olivia sometimes notices Ellis staring at her, but she doesn't know why.

Afterwards, Olivia uses her authority to distribute Dominic's personal stash of food and wine to everyone. For some reason, they all gathered around Olivia and threw her into the sky, and Olivia accepted their gratitude wholeheartedly. It was a night full of happy memories.

"Yes I know."

Olivia nodded shyly, and Claudia narrowed her eyes. The weather was warm, but Olivia felt a chill on her back.

"so. I'm the only one who doesn't know ... So Ashton, you haven't answered my question."

“K-We made this before leaving Gracia Fortress.”

“Oh ~ in just half a day. You must have worked hard for it, right? I know with just a glance."

Claudia nodded while crossing her arms. An expressionless face reminded Olivia of the calm before the storm.

“Do you think so, Lieutenant Claudia? You're right, it takes a lot of effort to do this. Thanks to the hard work of the guards, the result looks amazing.”

"Oh, so."

“Especially the scythe, it is very troublesome to make it so realistic, as if it can behead.”

As Ashton explained excitedly, Olivia thought:

Ashton always said I couldn't read the mood, but if the ability to feel the tension of reading the mood, then Ashton really failed at it. Since he understood that, it meant that he was an adult.

Claudia slowly approached Ashton who could not read the mood, gripped his shoulder and shook it wildly.

"You motherfucker! Are you going to fight !? Do you want to fight with me !!?"
