Beastkin Girl

The fire crackled slowly. Flying the ash and red flowers upwards, it disappeared a moment later. Illuminated by the orange glow of the fire, Shinnichi sat staring at the bonfire. More precisely staring at the three pairs of apples that were being roasted on the fire. Stabbed using a pair of golden sticks he found. Their bright red color begins to turn dark; a sign that they are starting to mature. The sweet smell also makes Shinnichi's saliva flow a little.

Shinnichi looked at his side. The Beastkin Rabbit girl was still asleep. Her purple robe became a blanket, protecting the weak body of the girl from the cold of the night. Around it, there were several crates. It was full of clothes, and useless things like mirrors, cosmetics, and food utensils.

Shinnichi bit the apple in his hand. He stripped the apple tree of its fruit. His first meal after coming out of the Dungeon was an apple, he would not forget this taste in his entire life.

“Schwarz, do you know where this is?” Shinnichi stared at the map before him. It is full of symbols of trees, lakes, and mountains.

“The outside world looks foreign after 300 years. In other words, don't ask me.” Schwarz replied a little annoyed. It still didn't seem to accept that her brother would use her body as an experimental material.

“Woah, quiet a little.” Shinnichi threw the rest of his apples to the side. Immediately, he took out another apple from the [Storage]. He started eating it again. Waiting for the roast apple to make him hungry.

“So, we are lost, without a compass, and without a destination.” Shinnichi sighed. Solve one problem, another problem comes.

Does he have to walk in any direction and hope he will reach civilization? No, it's too troublesome. He just needs to understand where the nearest town or village is.

Blindness is also difficult. Shinnichi scratched his head. Look back at the map carefully.

“Ugh... Father...” The soft sound entered his ear cavity.

The girl was delirious. Seems like you're having a nightmare. Not stopping there, the girl moved her body, sweating and her teeth became harder.

“Mother! Dad!” The girl wakes up. Cold sweat washed over his body. Tears even dripped from his eyes.

The girl looked confused. He held onto Shinnichi's robe tightly. As if it was the thing that was guarding him. Then he looked to the side.

A black haired man looked at him. On his neck, a blue crystal necklace. However, that was not what made him freeze on the spot. But, face.

A pair of dragon jaws that were incompatible with his body. He looks like a monster. With his left eye that was glowing faintly purple.

The girl shakes. Can't move. He was too scared.

Shinnichi looked at the girl silently. He raised his hand, the girl flinched. Shinnichi frowned before removing his mask. The girl iu was surprised to see Shinnichi's normal face.

“Is everyone in the world so rude?” Shinnichi grumbled softly. He put his mask in [Storage]. Shinnichi filled a full glass of water from the Emphiria crystal, he handed it to the girl.

“...” The girl accepted it with trembling hands. Take that water. Before I swallow it up. “... Te-thank you..”.

“You want more?”

The girl was embarrassed. Shinnichi refills the glass, the girl chokes it down. They repeated it twice before the girl was satisfied.

A little color returned to his face. The ears of the rabbit are also sharp. Emphiria's healing water was indeed potent, Shinnichi was once again amazed.

“Thank you...” The girl nodded back slowly. Put the gold glass next to him. Just a few seconds after he put the glass down, his stomach rang.

The girl held her stomach and then looked embarrassed. No, not shame. Fear is more accurate. It's shaking.

“You hungry?”

The girl shook her head slowly. “Ti-no! I'm not hungry...” He contradicts himself.

Shinnichi shrugged his shoulders. I don't understand why this girl is acting so strange. He took the golden stick used to cook the apple. A little charred, but other than that matures quite perfectly. He took one and started eating it.

Soft, hot, and sweet. Just like a roasted apple. But, it feels like something is wrong. A pair of eyes were fixed clearly towards him. Shinnichi feels uncomfortable when he is stared at while eating.

Shinnichi handed him an apple. “Eat this.”

The girl's eyes sparkled. But, he shook his head. “No, a-“

“Eat.” Shinnichi insists. Put the fruit in the girl's hand.

“...” The girl looked at the roasted apple in her hand. It bites. Feeling a sweet taste that he has not felt for a long time. He kept eating it. It doesn't stop until the fruit is gone.  “…. Thank you...”

“You again?” Shinnichi again offers an apple.

The girl nodded. Receiving the apple that Shinnichi gave. He continued to fill his long-empty stomach. Grateful for the food he received.

Shinnichi continued to check the map he found next to the Beastkin girl who was still eating the roasted apple quietly. Treat it like a valuable food. Already more than four apples he ate, he himself had eaten more than a dozen fruits.

Now, he needs to find where he is. The map did not provide much clues other than the common symbols and continents he occupied; the Ronzi continent.

The shape of the Ronzi continent is quite unique. A huge continent, it was almost like a perfect circle. There is a line that separates the continents in two. It looks like a yin and yang symbol. And Shinnichi could only sigh at the strangeness of this world.

In the center of the continent, there were two kingdoms. The Kingdom of Birre and the kingdom of Elfria. Birre is on the top right side of the continent. Elfria is on the left side of the line. A little under Birre. The question is where Shinnichi is currently.

There are six lakes scattered on the Ronzi continent. And Shinnichi doesn't know which one. In theory, he could keep walking north until he found the sea. But, his stomach was screaming to eat. To be honest he was fed up of eating meat that was only roasted over a fire. He needs variety.

“No city near yes...” Shinnichi murmured. “Schwarz is also useless.”

“I heard that, damn.” Schwarz grumbled softly before turning silent. Looks like sleeping.

“I'm just kidding.”  Shinnichi scratched his head.  Ignoring Schwarz. “Schwarz? You there?”

Schwarz did not answer. Either he was upset or he was asleep.

“U-uhm The beastkin rabbit beside him let out a voice.

“Hmm? What's up?” Shinnichi glanced at him.

“A-I know a city near here..”.

“-!? Really?” Shinnichi turned to her direction. Seeing his surprised expression, Shinnichi cleared a small thud. “Sorry, do you know where the city is?”

“East?” Shinnichi turned back to the map. There's no city symbol on that map. Only the forest of rivers, lakes and mountains. And now Shinnichi forgets where the east is.

He scratched his head. He turned back to the girl. “What's your name?” Shinnichi asked.

“A-me Genia...” The girl, Genia answered. His voice was slow as usual.

“Genia ‘kah? Thanks for the info.”

Shinnichi threw a pile of clothes from inside the crate. Give him a little cushioning. “We will leave at sunrise.”

Genia catches the clothes that Shinnichi threw. He realizes Shinnichi's words. “Master will take me..?” he asked, looking in disbelief.

Shinnichi was a little confused because Genia called him master, but he didn't think too much about it. “You want to be left here?”

Genia shook her head.

Shinnichi did not answer. He took out an apple from [Storage]. I don't know how many apples today. While there, Shinnichi will continue to eat it. While chewing his apple, Shinnichi threw the piece of wood into the fire. Keep it on fire.

This atmosphere was not much different from what he felt inside the dungeon. However, now he could feel the wind blowing gently. It feels reassuring if he is honest.

However, he was still unable to relieve his tension. Living in a dungeon during Shinnichi, then anyone can change. Take Shinnichi as a prime example. He could not close his eyes for more than two hours. Even for an Insomnia sufferer like himself, two hours of sleep is too little.

Shinnichi bit his apple. He felt a sweet, slightly sour taste in his mouth.  Staring at the wood devoured by the flames slowly turned into ashes.

“Ke-why..” The quiet voice of Genia he could hear. “Why... master saved me?”

Shinnichi did not turn his head or glance at him. Thinking about Genia's question. Honestly, he doesn't know. Poor fellow? Sympathizing?

“... I don't know.” Shinnichi answered a few moments later. “I think it's spontaneity only.”

“So yes...” Genia answered beside him. Lying down, his back faced Shinnichi. His robe still enveloped his body.

“Why are you there?” Shinnichi changed asked. Even though he could guess it himself.

“I... kidnapped,” replied Genia. “I was attacked by a red-armored warrior. They burned my house…. I got separated from my parents and met other bad guys. They caught me and sold me...”.

Shinnichi said nothing. He wasn't surprised. The law of this world is “who is strong he can”. Inhumane indeed, but that is the way of Zelfria.

Slavery, black market, royal invasion. It's all common. It is irrelevant for him to come from another world to change the rules of this world. Cruel as it may be, but his sympathy for the inhabitants of this world is almost zero.

“A-I want to go home..” Genia mumbled a little. Start sobbing. “I want to meet mom and dad..”.

Shinnichi hears it, but chooses to be quiet. He had no sweet words to comfort her. Only cruel reality crushes. It is so too.

Shinnichi also wants to go home. Go home to his friends. Go home to his world. Go home to Fiona.

Everyone has their own purpose. And right now, Shinnichi only focuses on his own goals.

Shinnichi threw the rest of his apples into the fire. On a whim, the apple was instantly covered in ash. Before a hissing sound could be heard, his sari touched the fire. Slightly reduced.

The night is long. And Shinnichi waited quietly.

Shinnichi looked at the brightening sky. The dawn has arrived. The sun rises from the east.

Shinnichi was standing on a tree trunk that he climbed last night. Shinnichi stretched his body. Heard the sound of his joints crackling after a night of lying on top of a tree. He tried to close his eyes many times. Although it didn't work out, he was at least relieved the day had arrived.

Shinnichi jumped down. Landing without a sound, he walked towards the carriage. Campfire scars can be seen, leaving ash and the rest of the apples he ate last night. The girl who was supposed to be there, Genia, was nowhere to be seen.

“Did he run away?” Shinnichi wondered.

Movement behind the bushes. Shinnichi prepares the Dominator. He pointed it right at the source of the sound. However, before he could fire it, a pair of rabbit ears emerged from behind the bushes.

Genia emerged from the forest. Wearing his robe and some blue fruit in his hand. Surprised to see Shinnichi, he walked towards her while lowering his head.

“A-I'm looking for food for breakfast.” He showed the fruit in his hand. It looks like a mango with a crown on it. It reminds him a little of the Methanasian fruit he always wears.

Shinnichi reached out his hand and removed his cloak from Genia. “I don't need it.” He wears his robe. “For you only.”

Shinnichi took out an apple from [Storage] and started eating it. He walked towards the horse carriage. Genia simply nodded, following behind him.

Shinnichi turned his head towards the pair of horses bound in front of him. Shinnichi sits in the driver's seat. Holding the bridle in his hand, Shinnichi pulled it slightly. The horse and the carriage retreated. Shinnichi turned the carriage upside down. Make it go East.

Shinnichi is aware that Genia has not yet ascended. “You wait for what?” tanyakanya.

“U-uhm... A-I can ride?” Genia asked nervously.

“What do you mean? Ride fast, I don't want to linger.”

“Ba-good!” Genia nodded. He hesitantly climbed up beside the driver's seat beside Shinnichi.

Shinnichi said nothing. He flicked the restraint rope in his hand slowly. The two horses started to walk towards the East.

“I didn't know you could control a horse-drawn carriage.” Schwarz sounded surprised.

“...” Shinnichi did not answer.

I don't know anyway….

In his heart, Shinnichi wished his carriage had not hit a tree or anything like that.
