Rakai Pikatan's...
Rakai Pikatan is a nickname based on its place of origin. The man came from the Pikatan region, still one region with the ancient mataram earth that entered the territory of the Syailendra dynasty.
The man is a descendant of the original Sanjaya dynasty whose power was eroded by the new beliefs brought by the indigenous Mahayana Buddhists.
A young man ? nope. Rakai Pikatan is the same age as Dyah Pramodhawardani's uncle named Balaputeradewa. 17 Years to be exact. When he won the bumishambara construction contest.
Actually the man has his own purpose, Rakai Pikatan wants to revive the teachings embraced by the Sanjaya dynasty, namely the followers of Hindu Shiva school. He was a very devout devotee of the Shiva god. Before setting foot in the dominion of the Syailendra dynasty, he spent years in asceticism, trying to attract the empathy of his lord god.
Attempts not to betray the results, after doing a hermitage for some time, Mahadeva was interested in the determination of the heart of a devotee, until finally Mahadeva met Rakai Pikatan.
The meeting took place in a forest on a mountain near the picatan region (the name of the region) which in modern times is famous as the Temanggung region, central Java.
between Sindoro mountain or cleft, because the two mountains are located close to the Pikatan region,
(but closer to Sindoro kayaknya hehe.)
A devotee who has a strong determination will do the ascetic position by lifting the bent left leg and sticking to the knee of the right leg, as well as both hands clenched up , eyes closed and just focus on what the goal is.
If you do not have strong determination, the person will not be able to survive in such a position. Not without reason, the ascetic position was indeed taught directly by the mahadeva, when meeting a servant near the top of the Himalayas, Mahadeva gives an example of the attitude of asceticism that he likes and whoever has the determination of heart surely Mahadeva will meet the people himself.
But not all who do asceticism will be met directly by the God. Because when the Mahadeva appears, it means whatever your wish will be granted, "whatever !"
Rakai Pikatan was surprised when his eyes felt a very glare, but during the closed eyes when doing the hermitage never once felt this glare, more glare than the rays of the Sun.
"Ngger.. Open your eyes !" mahadewa
"Worship only to you Mahadeva" said Rakai Pikatan when he ended his ascetic position.
"Say ngger, what do you want ?' mahadewa said when he had previously turned himself into a human figure parallel to the body of Rakai Pikatan.
"Hamba needs your blessing, O god Agung, I want to revive the Hindu Shiva in the land of Java !!" said Rakai Pikatan sure.
"Kabul.." One word that means whatever way you do will be what we want it to be.
"Thank you Mahadeva" Rakai Pikatan clenched his hands as the Mahadeva disappeared from his sight.

After Rakai Pikatan's hermitage succeeded, he returned to his native territory to cleanse himself after years of hermitage.
A body full of dust, dreaded hair and long, overgrown, long mustache.
Rakai Pikatan cleaned himself in one of the springs, which is now known as the springs or Mudal joints, still in the same area, Pikatan (Temanggung).
Sendang Mudal is the beginning of the journey of a man named Rakai Pikatan with the mission of Agung and has bagged the blessing of his Lord God, the Lord Shiva or Mahadeva.
On a trip to the seat of government of the Syailendra dynasty, Rakai Pikatan heard an announcement of a competition in the palace square. What an unexpected coincidence, the competition was about the command of King Samaratungga.
A competition containing the wishes of the Maharaja of Samaratungga who wanted to build a magnificent building in the territory of the dynasty of Syailendra, more precisely in a land that was granted by the local people as a form of devotion to the Maharaja of Samaratungga.
(cepu area.).
But the Maharaja did not have any acquaintance or person who could realize his wishes. So spread the contest, then,
"Whoever can realize what the Maharaja of Samaratungga wants, he said,
if she were a woman, she would be the daughter and sister of the crown princess.
and if he's a man then he'll be raised as a daughter-in-law "
Rakai Pikatan listened to the contest delivered by two palace soldiers in the square. This is the only chance..
With a steady step Rakai Pikatan back to his home, he will make a design of the building that is full of Symbolic meaning and reflects the beliefs espoused by the Emperor Samaratungga.

There were hundreds of people who wanted to participate however, there was only a sketch that would get away.
the soldiers brought sketches of the citizens to a trusted patih of the Samaratungga Emperor.
The Patih sorted and chose which sketches approached the criteria desired by the Samaratungga Emperor.
After going through strict selection, finally selected sketches belonging to Rakai Pikatan. There is a code name (signature) in the bottom corner of the sketch sheet of buffalo skin, so that the palace messenger is easier to find Rakai Pikatan residence.

Arriving at the palace, Rakai Pikatan was greeted by several patih. Shows where Rakai Pikatan can rest while waiting for the arrival of Maharaja Samaratungga.
A wide pendopo, Rakai Pikatan sat cross-legged quietly, in his heart did not stop at least chanting prayers to the shiva god in order to be given ease in carrying out his plan.

Maharaja Samaratungga immediately fell in love with the sketch of the building created by an ordinary man named Rakai Pikatan.
"Amazing Sketch "praise the Maharaja of Samaratungga
"Explain to me what each of these forms means." he continued
"sendiko dawuh kanjeng gusti Raja Samaratungga" clenched both hands and walked squatting closer, approaching,
Rakai Pikatan explained the first part is a peak stupa that resembles a giant bell, this is the axis of the rotation of the universe, which is the axis of the universe,
the cycle of life (samsara) is bound by desire and pseudo. In order to avoid life's spin, man must attain eternal life, called self-liberation from reincarnation.
"I agree with this, continue !" the King's word.
The building will be built in a square shaped area. The shape of the structure like a stepped pundit that is getting up is getting smaller with four stairs found on each side of the wind (east, south, west, and north).
The structure consists of 9 terraces consisting of 6 square terraces and 3 circular terraces. Among the terraces there is a floor called plateau.
Rakai Pikatan continues about the philosophy of Mahayana Buddhism, Borobudur Temple is a clone of the universe consisting of three levels vertically, namely Kamadhatu, Rupadhatu, and Arupadhatu.
Kamadhatu is the lower part of the temple that violates the lower realms, describing human behavior that is still determined by worldly passions (the place of ordinary humans).
Rupadhatu is the central part of the temple that divides nature between, describing human behavior that has begun to leave worldly desires, but will still be maintained by the real world.
Arupadhatu is the upper part of the temple that belongs to the upper realms, the place of the gods. A symbol of the intangible and as a sign of a level that has left the mundane.
Each level has its own philosophy different from the other.
The clear and detailed delivery of Rakai Pikatan made the Maharaja immediately approve his design.
"Make it as you explained to me !!" raja
"If you succeed then I will make you my only daughter-in-law !!" the Maharaja of Samaratungga
"sendiko dawuh kanjeng." clenched both hands.
A step closer to reaching my goal.
batin Rakai Pikatan's.
