Since The Fall Of Maglindo

Since The Fall Of Maglindo
Chapter 02 part III: Waiting for the Bell to Sound

Of course I'm wrong, completely wrong here. If someone thinks of me as a loser for ignoring the opposite sex who really needs help, then there is no rejection. But I stick to my stance, now no problems come, so I can sit quietly.

“Sorry.”

I don't know why, I dare say that. After seeing how weak Grizelle was before, it felt unnecessary to be too nervous. For some ambiguous reason, I felt that the awkwardness between us had disappeared, rather just me alone because ever since Grizelle spoke to me at the beginning, she looked perfect throughout the piece.

His response was slow, but he finally turned his head.

“For what?”

“I saw it happen, and just kept quiet.”

“Yes, you suck. But it's a good choice not to interfere in my business, you can't do anything either.”

In addition to being indifferent to others, he turned out to have a mouth that is quite sharp, more precisely easily speaking facts that can hurt his audience. However, it was all unable to cover up his weakness, knowing it the first time as an outsider, was me, perhaps.

“You know, at least I can beat 10 adults, so if you only fight with one teenager, it will be very easy.”

“Quarrels can not solve anything.”

He said it in a soft voice as his face returned to his book.

Indeed, quarrels cannot be solved also with quarrels, but for some cases, it has absolutely no role. If one party participating in the birth of a conflict is defeated through violence, the other party will have dominance. With that fact, peace though pseudo can be created, so it cannot rule out the possibility of conflict by itself eroded by time. One year, ten years, thousands of years and millions of years, whatever it is, peace must exist at least at certain moments.

When we stopped talking, the classroom atmosphere returned to silence. Every now and then I hear a scribble of pen on paper, at least it gives a little color in here.

“My name, Crayon.”

“I don't intend to know you further.”

Yeah, that's right, he even said it without looking at me.

“But I know your name, Grizelle. So we've been like classmates, haven't we?”

This time hearing my words, he glanced with a slightly annoyed face. It made me recall memories from the past, about the story of a girl who was the hardest to approach in this world.

“Friends you said? Is that kind of thing needed?”

I know for this topic he's very connected, interested in getting into it. Despite saying as if he could live without anyone else, I knew it was not completely out of the bottom of his fragile heart.

Someone who hides something about the past, it can be easily realized by me. I don't know exactly what the problem is, but he who now looks like me in the past. Instead of looking cool, even more sad, even though the person himself will not realize it, and Grizelle does look cool for certain parts anyway.

“Of course. You who read books often should know more than me.”

“Omong empty.”

He returned to his activities, reading and writing. But I didn't feel like ending this conversation just like that, for whatever reason, the secret of his life wanted me to go deeper.

“Be quiet, I'm studying.”

Not because I felt guilty, I finally chose to stop my words according to what he ordered, smiling a little afterwards. But because of that, I got a little bored. So I sat down on my side from the chair facing Grizelle as my eyes watched what she was doing.

Before long, maybe he felt uncomfortable when stared at by others, he turned to look at me.

“What direction did you look in? I'll report it if you keep looking at me, you stalker.”

This is the first time I've been said so, so I can't help but laugh. Especially since when did I talk to him? It feels great to be able to chat with a woman who has only been known for a long time.

Maybe because a girl like Grizelle fits me so well. From the beginning I had actually realized it, somehow there was no sense of awkwardness when being around him.

“Basic of freaks,” says Grizelle.

“I'm normal. Oh yeah, how about we be friends?”

Considering he himself said that he would not open a relationship with others, so to be sure sometimes questions like this are needed. As before, relationships don't always have to be based on words.

“Huh? I told you I don't need friends.”

“Why is that?”

Grizelle was breathing rough looking at the real me pretending not to understand the situation.

Being innocent also doesn't seem bad for supportive times. In addition to not having to think about the topic of conversation that can make the mind overlap, just sitting and listening to others explain can make a conversation last long enough.

“That friend will only make things difficult for you. They only come when you're on top, then leave when you're down. They're just using your strengths for their own needs, and you're saying that friends are important? Stupid.”

That's true, but not overall. From my experience, I have never experienced this once in my life. Wh why? Because my friends are so few, even just one person maybe. However, the friend in this case I think is someone who is needed in living life, not as Grizelle describes in her head.

The friend who came for a reason for himself, was clearly different from the word friend I was thinking of. Everyone can of course interpret it differently, like me and Grizelle. But in my eyes, what Grizelle thought of as friends was just a nickname that did not reflect her true meaning. As if by saying stupid, he is the one who is stupid in his own words. Choosing someone wrong to be a friend is completely normal, because we are not a God who knows everything.

But in Grizelle's case, she said so as if she clearly conveyed that she had experienced what friends used to do. At least from that, I can draw many conclusions about him. That was how dangerous every word that came out of the mouth was, there were many hidden facts that were unintentionally missed.

“Then I will be a friend who is always there when you need something. How, is that enough?”

“There is no guarantee that you will.”

“Ya.”

“What does it mean with ‘Ya’?”

After Grizelle asked like that, I got out of my seat and walked towards the door without answering.
