“Halo, you must be a first-year student. With your arrival here, can I assume that you intend to join our club?”
The man just asked after putting the large trumpet in his hand on the floor.
The question he asked made me think hard for a while. As a teenager who is quite sensitive to the environment, it does not feel good if you immediately say that “I am not interested” just like that. But I also did not want to join this club, for some reason even though it was far from gloomy, there was no interest in my heart. While the last option is still there, but it will make me swallow my own saliva. My point in this case is to pretend to be interested first, invite them to chat, listen to the advantages and disadvantages if joining this club even though from the beginning the intention is not to join, he said, then at the end just say “I'll think about it first” or something.
Unfortunately, there is no other choice now, so for a while I will use the last way.
“Maybe.”
“Then, let's talk about this in the seat that's there.”
He seemed happy with my answer which was not clear what it meant. From his face, came out a smile full of sincerity to the point that his eyes were closed at the same time.
As he pointed me to the six seats surrounding a table, we sat face to face in other words on different sides. While the other two colleagues, standing watching us from a distance, as if there was a serious conversation even though on their faces did not say so.
“First, introduce my name Ryuga, and I am the club chairman here. If you can tell me what your name is?”
“I ... Crayon.”
He was a little surprised to hear my name. Yeah, I also know that it's unique. After all, it's actually just a nickname, my real name is much nicer.
“Well, Crayon, is there some kind of special reason you came here, other than interested in joining? You know, our club room is very far away.”
“I followed the arrows you guys installed.”
The man in front of me named Ryuga was laughing loudly for this, even though no one was making jokes or anything like that. He then turned to the woman whose glare was sharp, I spontaneously followed him and found that I was being stared at very lowly, disgusting, and disparagingly.
“I win.” Ryuga said it to the woman in a soft voice.
“Cih.”
Our conversation resumed as Ryuga turned towards me. What did that mean? They look like they're risking something. In that case, the victim of the gamble here is myself, since when did it start? Better to know more, I intend to ask him this directly.
“What are you guys talking about?”
I think he's hiding something. There can't be anyone who suddenly says “I won” for no apparent reason.
Besides, I don't like her smile very much. When he is so, it seems like a manipulative person who can affect his interlocutor. After all, if there is no reason that requires a person to smile, it is better to show a normal face, even though the type of person who is a cheap smile is an advantage, he uses it too often and either way, it never adds another look, it's always the same.
“Oh yes, are you interested in joining this club? I guarantee you will not regret, because we always do fun activities every day.”
The definition of pleasing each person is different, but basically the same as long as making someone's heart is not forced to accept it. Whereas in this case, joining the Volunteer Club would obviously be a loss for me. Hearing the word “volunteers” only I can already know what their daily activities are, but they should really do fun activities even though they are rare.
Humans are not robots, so if only doing monotonous activities such as something related to volunteers for example helping others without rewards continuously, then of course his life will be filled with complaints considering how lonely and boring he is.
I'm here, in a new school, my original intention was to make life more colorful. From a long time ago, there were only a few good memories I could keep, so now I'm going to make things change. Being alone is not cool, there is nothing to play with, chat with, walking together to the cinema to watch a movie, and all the fun things that can be done if you have many friends. That's why I'm aiming for at least 10 people for the next 3 years, or if possible then I'm hoping for 100, more than that's okay.
“I'm still not sure. Can you show me something that would interest me more?”
Ending this conversation now is a very bad idea. So at least when good moments arise, then I will reject as much as possible without having to hurt the feelings of others.
“How about I tell you about this club?”
“That sounds good.”
Ryuga took a deep breath. I thought it would be a long, long talk until the bell came home.
“So as the name suggests, our club often conducts activities of a positive nature. Of course not only that, sometimes we go directly to an area that really needs, besides that when there is a festival both at school and outside, we also have our own role. So that each member does not feel bored, every one week even more usually we hold a vacation. Because of that too, this club has never disappeared from generation to generation. Since the first club has been established, because it is also if you are confused why our club room is here, because this place is like a home for the Volunteer Club.”
That's a heartwarming story. No one knew what he said was true, or deliberately fabricated in order for me to be interested in joining, but clearly there should be some special reason why he looks like someone who really needs a new member.
Anyway come to think of it, joining them wasn't as bad as I thought. From the story alone embedded the word “luburan”, if it is true, then surely it will be something fun. In addition, if you choose to join, then my friends can increase, it could be that his other colleagues also want to be with me.
This could be a consideration.
“So so. May I ask?”
Rather than call it that, my goal was more to make sure. This question was constantly stirring in my head. Actually there are still some other things that still feel strange, as much as possible I hold it.
