The American In Another World

The American In Another World
Chapter 15: The Esthirant

July 30, 1639

Esthirant, Parpalid Empire

A blond man in his early thirties with a graceful moustache sat in his office, sorting through piles of documents. “Nahanath. Topa... end their slave trade? Hoho, I'll see it later.” He put the report to the side. “Fenn, still 'deciding'? Geez, this rental deal is the best thing we have ever offered to a barbarian country! A group of ungrateful savages.”.

Finally, he completed the report from the Rodenius continent. “Ahh,” her smile, “War conquest and genocide Louria. How typical of savages to engage in demihuman ethnic cleansing. Well, it doesn't matter as long as we secure Rodenius under our watch!” He read the reports that have been set aside over the past few weeks due to the excessive bureaucratic workload. "Hmm?" He raised an eyebrow. “They lost their fleet?! For... the Americans? Who the hell?!"

The more he read, the more dizzy he became. “Iron ship, iron dragon...move country?! What kind of fantasy shit is this?!” He scoffed at the impossibility of the report, failing to see any semblance of reason in it. Still, he realized that his subordinates would not throw their work to a joke, so he decided to investigate it.

He looked through his closet to look for files involving Mu and the Sacred Mirishial Kingdom, as he knew they had metal vehicles. As he was busy combing the drawer, he heard a knock on the door. "Come in," he said.

One of his subordinates came in, the receptionist in front. "Mr Kaios," he said. “You may want to come to the dock. There's something you should see.”

Kaios sighed. “Raita, I admit, you are beautiful, but I am quite busy here..”.

"Oh," she blushed. "That's not what I meant. There is a fleet of metal vessels on the water!”

"Metal ship?" Kaios immediately put the material back in the closet. "Let's go."

——

One day ago

US Third Fleet, en route to Esthirant

Ambassador Anders walked along the deck of the USS Carl Vinson, taking pictures with his cell phone to send back to his wife. As he moved his camera, trying to find a good scene to capture, he saw someone walking in front, waving his hand and smiling.

He lowered his phone to see the man, his bearded Hispanic counterpart. "Damn it, Miguel?" Anders smiled.

“Yes, bet you think I'm gone forever, huh?”

"You think you're on vacation with your parents in Mexico?"

“Yes, it is. We happened to be at the embassy when the storm hit, so we were lucky haha. But I want my 500 now.”

Anders can't even be mad. He took out his wallet and paid over 5 pieces of money. "Truly seriously? You look at me and the first thing that comes to your mind is the stakes? Anders chuckled, shaking his head.

“Hey man, can't let you forget. You know, just in case God does another act of teleportation. Must cash in while we both are still in the same plane of existence.”

“Always the logical..”.

They shared a laugh as the waves crashed into the hull of their ship. Miguel broke the silence, “So, what are you doing here? I heard you were our man for the people of Qua Toyne.”

“Yes, I should still be down there, helping to find more info about these Ravernal people, but the shady prisoners we took from the Lourian fleet finally cracked. It turned out that he was from the Parpaldian Empire, so the President decided that now was a good time to visit them.”

"Opicking you might be because you're most experienced with the foreign affairs of this world, eh?"

"Yes." Yeah."

“It is not strange how we send the entire fleet to build diplomacy,” commented Miguel.

"Have you checked the message from Washington this morning?"

Miguel shook his head.

“Well, basically those Parpaldians are very stiff and arrogant. The people we captured from the Lourian fleet thought we were a weak barbarian state, because we were in 'uncivilized territory' and had no magic.

Miguel grinned in shock, “Serious? Just because of our location and lack of magic?”

"Yes. It's ingrained in their mindset and culture, I guess. So, the President wants to do gunboat diplomacy from now on. It seems that most of the so-called 'civilized' countries on the planet are made up of a group of fools.”

The intercom interrupted their conversation. "Embassador Anders to the bridge, please."

——

A white-bearded man called out to Anders. “Ambassador, we have detected a group of ships on radar. They're calling us now at uh. manacomm. How do you even use this thing?

Anders walked into that device. "Parpaldian Man?"

"Yes, that's what they identify as themselves."

“Alright, thank you admiral. I'll take it from here.” He answered Parpaldian's communication request.

“Unknown metal vessel, you are approaching the territorial waters of Parpaldian! State your identity and intentions!

“Ahem, I am Ambassador Anders to the United States. I was traveling with USS Carl Vinson with the United States Navy Third Fleet, and our goal was to establish diplomatic relations with the Parpaldian Empire.”

A momentary silence ensued while the Parpaldian at the other end shared some whispers.

——

"United States? I have never heard of the country before.” The captain scratched his head, trying to recall the history lessons from the academy.

His deputy also lost. “Maybe they are a newly formed barbarian nation?”

“Hm, maybe. Let's inform HQ, maybe they'll know something. Oh, I see ships along the horizon!”

The pair used their spotting binoculars to analyze the ship, almost leaving them in shock as the fleet came into sight. Captain approaching manacomm. "I saw some giant iron ships above the horizon..."

"Yes, it's us" a voice replied.

He let go of manacomm to discuss with his XO. “Iron ships..It can only be found in the second and first regions of civilization. And the one in the middle of it looks like an aircraft carrier, with a metal plane, just like Mu!”

“True, captain. Magical detectors could barely detect their ships. What does a second-class country fleet do get here?”

“Eh, we are not paid enough to know. Let's send this to an order and let them handle it.

He rekindled manacomm. “Before we allow you to proceed, we ask you to answer some questions. First, where is your country located?”

The polished voice from before responded. “Our land is located a few thousand miles east of the continent Rodenius.”

The captain placed his hand on manacomm, speaking to his companion in a soft whisper. “Isn't there just an open ocean out there?”

The captain took his hand off Manacomm. “Dan... You are a new nation? Do you have an affiliation with a first or second civilized area?

“Yes, we are a new nation. What do you mean by first and second civilized areas?”

“That's not. Exceptionally well. You can anchor your fleet offshore and send smaller ships to dock at the port of Esthirant. Follow our ship.”

July 30, 1639

Esthirant, Parpalid Empire

Raita pointed to the metal vessel. "Geez, they're so big !"

Kaios crossed her arms. "Huh, so size does matter," he murmured.

"What was that?" She's looking.

“Ah, it's okay. Just saying how big they are.

"Hm. Mr. Kaios, they really look like Mu's ship, but bigger.”

Despite being a few miles from shore, the aircraft carrier at sea clearly dwarfed the small Parpaldian bodyguard beside it. The aircraft carrier was accompanied by several large ships with one cannon in front of a castle-like box-shaped construction and many small ships, also with one cannon. Kaios gawked slightly when she realized that even the smallest metal ship was bigger than the Parpaldian warship by a significant margin.

Far past the aircraft carrier, dozens of ships kept their distance along the edge of the horizon. Among these ships, he could count at least two more carriers. Shocked by the vastness of the fleet, he wondered who was crazy enough to send such an army - which could be compared to a full-scale invasion force - just for diplomatic purposes. Unbeknownst to him, the American, on the recommendation of the arrested observation officer Varhal, enacted a policy introduced by one of their greatest leaders. Thanks to the arrogant nature of the nations of this world, the United States sees it fit to carry a giant stick of unparalleled proportions. "God…"

Three rowboats emerged from the aircraft carrier. As they approached the harbor, he noticed that no passengers were rowing and the small boat was moving faster than any rowboat could. “Could they use the Wind Tear God to move their plane?”

Raita narrowed her eyes to look better. “They don't have a screen, so what does Tear use to push?”

“Hm, correct. Let's welcome these newcomers.”

“Master, isn't this supposed to be a mission from the Second State Department, given the high probability that these ships are from Mu or one of their neighboring countries?”

Kaios recalled her initial ambition to become the director of the First State Department. He smoothly clenched his fists, not wanting to lose another great opportunity. "NO. 'These 'Americans' have declared that their nation is east of Rodenius. Technically, this falls under my department, and this will continue to be so unless otherwise stated by my employer.”

Two metal dragons flew from the aircraft carrier and exited towards the sea, then quickly sped upwards before disappearing from sight. The sound of objects cutting through the air reached the harbor, where people gasped and pointed in the direction of the incident. They returned from the right, producing cloudy flowers as they broke the sound barrier above the head. Two sonic booms echoed throughout the harbor, shocking many of Ethirant's spectators.

Raita smiles. “That's quite an exhilarating spectacle! I sure hope we retain jurisdiction over these Americans. How are we going to treat them?”

“Of course not with hostility, after seeing this demonstration. My concern lies in preventing the Second or First department from taking this gift from me. Imagine if I could pave the way to unlock the secrets of their metal; we would no longer live under Your shadow! Obviously, this aircraft surpasses Mu's Marin.” fighter aircraft

“Hmm, I'm sure glad that you gave these newcomers their first impression of the Parpaldian Empire. I can't imagine how bad it would be if someone as arrogant as Elto was assigned to this.

“Heh. Of course." Kaios wonders if Raita knows about her rivalry with Elto. “Their milk is anchored. Let's go and greet them.”

The couple broke through the crowd that had gathered along the pier. In front, dozens of Parpaldian rifle men stood ready, parting ways to let Kaios and Raita pass. The dark-colored boat moved upwards, emitting a strange sound as it split the water. Their people held weapons whose designs were very similar to rifles, but much slimmer. With professional efficiency, Americans secured their ships to the docks, culminating in the loss of strange noises.

Two of them were wearing clothes that were different from the others; they were wearing sharp and stylish clothes. The Parpaldians could not help but think of the people from Mu, who were also wearing such clothes. Kaios walked over to greet the man leading the American team, a tall Caucasian with light brown hair. “Greetings, I am Director Kaios of the Third State Department. On behalf of the Parpaldian Empire, I greet you in our capital, Esthirant,” he bowed.

"Thank you for the warm welcome," the man replied, replying to his bow. “I'm Ambassador Anders and the man beside me is Ambassador Rodriguez. We will conduct diplomacy on behalf of the United States.”

“Then, the Third Foreign Affairs Office is not too far from here. Mind if we walk?”

"I don't mind," Anders said as he scanned his surroundings.

Kaios was very attentive to Anders' movements and behavior. The man seemed to admire the scenery, but not in the way that envoys from barbarian countries usually do. Instead of gazing at the majestic and rich splendor of Esthirant, this man simply smiled and nodded in agreement, as if he was a famous critic who was researching other expensive works of art. For Anders, this view is incredible, but not overwhelming. Kaios makes a mental note of this; Anders' reaction confirms his suspicion that Americans are clearly not like their neighbors in terms of technology and culture.

As they walked, they engaged in empty chatter. Kaios started the conversation, “Ambassador Anders, I have heard some rumors about your country. I wonder how accurate these rumors are.”

"Oh? Of course," the man chuckled. "Forward."

“First, I heard you are a relocated nation. Really?"

Anders shrugged, maintaining a relatively serious expression. "Yes. One day we were on Earth, the next day a storm hit the whole world and then disappeared. Next thing we know, we're here. Anders' guards also did not react, hinting at the validity of the claim.

"intriguing. We have stories of countries that were moved in the past, such as the Ancient Sorcerous Kingdom and Mu. However, this event happened for a very long time, before any of the Great Powers industrialized or even appeared. Such stories, expected, hard to believe.”

The other man, Rodriguez, interrupts. “If you are in doubt, we will gladly arrange a trip to the United States for you.”

“Hmm, I might have to comply with this offer. Can I ask you to wait a few days while I reset my schedule and ask for some time off?

Anders nodded, then looked up; he remembered something important. “Yes, we can do that. Oh, one thing: what the hell is this world called?”

"Hmm?"

"What is the name of this planet?"

“Aduh, Elisia. The name comes from you I believe.

"Very similar to Elysium" Anders commented, turning to Rodriguez for an opinion.

"Related to Greece, maybe?" She said.

Kaios interrupted, confused by the conversation. "I'm sorry, but what are you talking about?"

Anders recalled the mechanism of automatic translation of this world. “I guess the word elysium should be translated into 'heaven' or the like, because most likely there is no origin of the word 'elysium' on the planet. However, if the translation is stopped, you can find out that Elysia and 'elysium' have the same origin.”

“Interesting,” says Kaios. He found himself on the steps of his office building. “Then, I hope the view is awesome.”

"Of course," Anders replied casually, looking at the grandeur outside for the last time before heading to the building.

As they entered, Americans noticed a remarkable interior resemblance to Renaissance-era European design. They even looked at the Roman column; the only thing that differed was its lighting, which seemed to be powered by magic. Just like the magic light pole outside, the chandelier that shimmered above also used magic gems. Some vents are built into the wall, providing a cool breeze like an air conditioning unit. It is operated by hidden tears inside a complex ventilation system.

All the facilities and decorations in the lobby were intended to affirm the superiority of the Parpaldian Empire over the Third Region countries or the barbaric countries that came to visit. Kaios knew Americans were hardly impressed, as if this splendor was common. Indeed, in diplomatic work, Anders and Rodriguez have visited many beautiful buildings, from castles in Europe to castles in Asia to the homes of the super-rich. Kaios had them wait for a while while she and Raita adjusted their schedules to accommodate the newcomers.

After a few minutes, he took them to his office. "Please sit down."

A window sat behind Kaios, showing a beautiful view of the city. Anders and Rodriguez sat in two open seats, feeling quite comfortable. Anders then opened his briefcase, taking out several copies of a package of information about the United States. "alright. Let's start."
