The American In Another World

The American In Another World
Chapter 33: Parpaldian Preparation

November 10th, 1639

Esthirant, Parpalid Empire

“Mrs Remill! Lady Remille!” A soft voice sounded, slowly getting louder.

Remille rolled on her bed, groaning in annoyance. "Hmmm.."

“You must wake up; there is an emergency! The Emperor demands your presence in an emergency meeting!”

Remille's eyelids opened wide, her state of mind immediately turning to vigilance as she realized the seriousness of the situation. Her maid would not wake her up unless in a truly terrible state. He threw his blanket to the side, waking up gracefully and with precision. “Jana, bring me my clothes.”

The blonde waitress bowed before coming out from before Remille. He immediately returned carrying the imperial clothes of Remille, along with a set of magical gems. Using a magic jewel, the maid creates a small cloud of water to help Remille refresh herself before the meeting. The mist swirled around Remille as she cleaned up, her appearance was already very different from her previous grooves.

"thank you. Now clean my room, Jana.”

——

Imperial Palace

Director Kaios felt all eyes on her while everyone waited for the room to fill. Many military officials and advisers were already present, with stern gazes as they pondered the shocking news of the American declaration of war. On one hand, Kaios felt uneasy, as if everyone somehow blamed her for the declaration of war. After all, he was the chief ambassador for the United States; could he do something that led to this declaration of war?

Golden sunlight shone through the room as the morning began, creating an atmosphere in the meeting room that could be described as the calm before the storm. The empty chatter builds tension in the room, with two sides formed: one concerned about America and the other vindictive, arrogantly wanting to teach this new barbarian state its place. Kaios hoped reason and logic would prevail, as there was no way the Parpaldian Empire could even touch the United States.

Shortly after, all the members arrived. Led by Emperor Ludius, the meeting began. Seeing the Emperor's hand raised, everyone instinctively fell silent. Then, he spoke, “The punitive war we have been doing in the Altaras has increased. As you know, the new country of the United States has allied with this rebel barbarians, ” he said while clenching his hands. His tone grew even more furious as he continued, “This rebellion against us must be destroyed, lest it spread to our other territories. We are not — and will never — tolerate insubordination! It is very important for us to teach these barbarians their place.

A nod of approval swept through the Parpaldian officials in the room, followed by the sharp gaze of Emperor Ludius. A silhouette with a bright light flowing through the window, his figure looked much more imposing. His silence made his subject uncomfortable, adding a dramatic effect to his later words. “However, we realize that this new enemy is much stronger than the barbarians we used to fight. Director Vindus, describe your report on the United States.”

"Yes, Your Highness," a bald man with a black beard lowered his head, shining medallions clinking at each other as he knelt. He took a breath before speaking, “The Information Bureau has been working closely with Supreme Commander Arde and Mrs Remille to analyze the outcome of the battle and determine the extent of the United States' capabilities. After studying the battle between the pirate fleet at Fenn and the American naval battle group, we can see that their ships were equipped with long-range precision cannons, similar to Mu. However, this cannon has superior accuracy, range, and rate of fire. Unfortunately, we were unable to determine its maximum range. In addition, these ships were equipped with an ancient weapon: a guided light arrow. We reason that these weapons are expensive, or low in number because of their reluctance to use them. They seem to prefer using their cannons against our ships. Furthermore, this information was corroborated by our spies in the United States, who disguised themselves as merchants. We have so far not learned anything we can use in combat, but at least we know that this ship is called a 'destroyer'.

“Hmm.. And we also know that the United States employs aircraft carriers, so they understand the importance of air support during maritime operations. What do we know about their plane?”

Vindus continued, “Your Majesty, their plane is similar to yours. My spies in Louria witnessed their combat prowess during the American siege of Jin Hark, but they all claimed that this plane was capable of surpassing the sound barrier. 'This 'fighter jet' - as the American public calls it - can travel as fast as twice the speed of sound and is equipped with miniature guided light arrows, which seem to be their main weaponry against aerial targets. With this weapon, the wyvern knights of Louria were cut down without any resistance. The aircraft can also be equipped with bombs, which can be dropped from a high altitude — high enough even wind dragons can not get close. Of course, these hyperbolic statements may be the result of a wrong perspective, because the battlefield can make the warnings seem larger than life. We are investigating the accuracy of this claim.”

Murmurs appeared among the crowd of officials, some of them likening the description of the American plane to the description of the dreaded Ancient Sorcerous Empire. Whispers worried that they were extinguished by raising the hand of Emperor Ludius.

“Subject, don't worry yourself with such nonsense. If we do face the Ancient Sorcerous Kingdom, they will not take diplomatic action. Their talks with the Third State Department proved this point. So, Kaios, can you get information about Americans?”

“Yes, Your Honor. When I accepted their declaration, my partner, Ambassador Anders, made clear America's disapproval of our hegemonic practices. He even went so far as to call our policies for 'civilized' and 'tyrannical' barbarian countries'. He went on to discuss the 'self-evident truths' and the 'inalienable rights' that we deprive people of.

Ludius remained silent, receiving this revelation and allowing the tension in the room to escalate. Kaios, afraid of retaliation, continued to bow her head and gaze to the ground. Cold sweat ran down his neck, uncomfortable getting stuck in his clothes. Then, Emperor Ludius issued a surprising response.

She laughs. “That's great, Director Kaios. We now know that Americans are soft, and we can use this weakness to our advantage. If what intelligence officer Vindus said is true; whether Arde's opinion of American power is justified; then we will coordinate our strategy as it is. Supreme Commander of Arde, you will apply the strategy we have developed against Mu and the Mirishial Holy Kingdom. Harukas,” the silhouette figure of Ludius turned his head slightly to face the scientific-looking individual with his blue robes and long brown hair. “We will give you additional resources to continue your research into the Magic Anti-Aircraft Cannon obtained from Mirishial. Vindus, send your smartest agent to the United States immediately to get as much information as possible. Although their science is mysterious and enigmatic, we may be able to find some insights that can help improve our own technology.” He clapped. The sound echoed throughout the meeting room several times before Ludius continued, This “War will most likely be the biggest challenge we have, and will ever face. There is no doubt that we will suffer a lot, but there is also no doubt that we will stay and eventually win. Victory will be achieved through any means necessary, and we will punish these Americans for daring to defy us!” but there is also no doubt that we will survive and ultimately win. Victory will be achieved through any means necessary, and we will punish these Americans for daring to defy us!” but there is also no doubt that we will survive and ultimately win. Victory will be achieved through any means necessary, and we will punish these Americans for daring to defy us!”

Moved by the Emperor's speech, his subjects chanted, "Glory to the Parpaldian Empire!"

Embassy of Muan, Eshirant

Remille entered the Embassy of Muan with Director Elto, immediately arranging the direction of the receptionist. “I need to talk to Ambassador Mugei,” he said firmly.

The receptionist adjusts his glasses to ensure the identity of the arrogant speaker. “Oh, Miss Remille and Director Elto. I apologize, but Ambassador Mugei is currently busy with the American Ambassador. I'm afraid you have to wait in the lobby.”

The feeling of the Parpaldian duo deteriorated after being told that Mugei and Anders were in a meeting together. Remille maintained her composure, only letting her expression become sour after she turned away from the receptionist and walked to the empty section of the lobby. “Who the hell is that— the barbarian thinks he is?! What important subjects did he need to discuss with Mugei? Except…"

Remille began to retaliate, ready to reprimand Elto even to state that he was wrong, but he realized the error of his argument. He sighed, “Yes, I guess you have some reasonable points. Let's see if we can get something useful.”

Anders recognized the Parpaldians who were walking towards him, “Nona Remille. Director Elto.”

"Embassador Anders," said Remille, almost hissing. “You know, it's not too late to cancel your declaration of war. Of course there will still be consequences, but nothing as drastic as your citizens might pay for it, if you let this war continue.

Anders raised an eyebrow, scoffing, "Is that a threat, Miss Remille?"

“This is an opportunity to save yourself from the wrath of the Parpaldian Kingdom.”

Some employees stopped their activities out of curiosity about the scene in the lobby. The security guards stood guard, ready to take action while the citizens from Mu and the Mirishial Holy Kingdom noticed the tense conversation.

Anders smirked arrogantly. “How sad. I'm expecting more manners from someone civilized like you. I've already submitted the terms of my country to Director Kaios. I'd suggest you get things done quickly, while you still have the military fixed, ” he said before turning around and leaving.

Remille stood there, speechless. He glared at the back of the retreating American ambassador, humiliated and embarrassed by the way he treated her. How dare a barbarian talk to someone from the greatest superpower of the Third Civilization Region in this way?!

“Nona Remille,” says Elto, putting a hand on her shoulder. "Your face has a reddish discoloration ..."

Remille angrily brushed off Elto's hand. "I know!" he hisses. "Suckers! Do not mind the barbarian; we will have our moment later, when we destroy the strength of his people. Let's go see Ambassador Mugei.”

Elto was uncomfortable with Remille's stubbornness. He wondered why he kept insisting that Americans were inferior and easily defeated like other barbarians, especially after Emperor Ludius realized their power. He attributes his erratic and illogical behavior to the sacrifices he had to make. Understanding his position and how worried he was about the future, Elto sighed and replied, "Yes, let's meet him."

They are then taken to Mugei's office, where they see ambassador Muan holding a strange tablet-like object that displays moving images. Mugei tapped on the symbol on the device screen, causing the video to stop. “Nona Remille and Director Elto, what can I do for you today?”

Miss Remille looked at Elto, allowing her to speak.

“Ambassador Mugei,” said Elto, “We would like to inform you that the Parpaldian Empire is currently in a state of war against the United States. We recommend that you stop trading with them; your ship may be caught in the crossfire.

“I will consider it and send it to my supervisor, thanks for the notice. Is there anything else?”

“Ya,” Remille login. Embassies seem to be more crowded than usual.”

"Ah. We received prior notice of the war from Ambassador Anders.”'s office He walked over and closed the door to his office. “I'll be honest with you, to respect the professionalism for decades together. We predict most likely war will come to your beach, especially Esthirant because the city is located on the beach.”

"Are you suggesting that our navy cannot defend our capital ?!"

"No," Mugei said grimly. "I'm telling you. However I would suggest that you find a peaceful solution to this conflict as soon as possible. Even if we were to face the United States — heavens, even if the Mirishial Holy Empire would face the United States, it would be a disaster. Their abilities are more than you can prepare for even a century. Ethirant is a beautiful city. I don't like to see it leveled with soil.”

“So, is this a complete evacuation?” ask Elto.

"Sadly so," Mugei replied. “If the Parpaldian Empire still exists after this war, Mu will return. But my entire staff is being moved to the United States, so unfortunately you have to see new faces. Nice to cooperate with you, Director,” he reached out.

Elto gave Mugei a strong handshake. “You too, Ambassador.”

Mugei looked at his wrist, at the intricately made watch that was clearly of American design. "I'm really sorry, but you have to excuse me." He picked up his personal belongings as he spoke. “My government wants my people evacuated at the end of the day, so I have to leave. Miss Remille, nice to meet you.” Mugei bowed quickly and left the room with her luggage, leaving the room empty except for furniture.

Elto sat back in his chair, staring at Remille, who looked shaken and lost in thought. “Nona Remill?”

“I—I don't know what to do..”.

“If you can't decide now, you'll only have one decision later. Time is very important, Miss Remille.”
