The American In Another World
Chapter 2: The Island of Steel

Principality Qua Toyne

April 19, Central Calendar Year 1639, 18:30

The Second Fleet of the Navy Qua Toyne

Water splashed gently into the hull, giving it a peaceful atmosphere as Captain Vansen admired the sunset. Golden rays flashed past the water, illuminating the ocean with a splendid light as night crept into the sky. His sleepy, daydreaming state was interrupted by one of his lieutenants, who seemed quite confused when he patted his captain on the shoulder.

"Eh, Captain?" He asked, gripping the spotting telescope.

Captain Vansen groaned, somewhat annoyed that his peaceful relaxation was interrupted. "Whatis that? See the Lourian navy or something?”

“No, nothing big like that, sir. I have seen several islands on the horizon.”

This piqued the interest of the captain, visible from his posture and facial expression. “Island? There are no islands off the coast of Maihark.”

The lieutenant offered the captain his telescope. "There," he pointed to somewhere on the horizon. “I saw some shapes in the distance. I can only see his silhouette because of the sunset.”

Captain Vansen received the telescope. "Let me see," he said as he adjusted it, zooming in to the specified location. Sure enough, several silhouettes appeared along the horizon. Handing the telescope back to its lieutenant, he frowned at the sight of the strange sight. “They don't look like islands; the overall structure of these objects is too angular. Looks like this is a ship.”

The lieutenant saw those things again. "Oh! They are much closer than before. They just look like the island before.” he fell silent. “Master, will we investigate? There shouldn't be any other patrols here besides us.”

"agreed. The helmsman!" Vansen. "Take us to the northeast, we'll investigate the whereabouts of this unknown ship!"

The helmsman complied, and the previously sleepy ship became preoccupied with activity as the sailors of Qua Toyne re-directed their ship. Paddlers under the deck help turn the ship while sailors on the deck set the sail. Vansen continued to monitor the 'islands' on the horizon, realizing that the islands seemed to be approaching very quickly. By the time Vansen's ship had completely turned around, an unknown fleet had been spotted, their ship had rolled up its sails yet still maintained an astonishing speed. Before long, they approached his relatively small ship, and he stared at the large shadow of the metal ship in front of him. He carefully analyzed the ship, noting that there were large cannons stationed near the bow. What he had previously mistaken for a pole turned out to be a kind of steel structure, complete with windows, towers, and lights. Several smaller cannons adorned the side of the ship, accompanied by tubes and other alien devices. On the hull of the ship, a white sentence appears by itself; Vansen suspects that this may be the designation for the ship, since other ships have similar but different paintings.

As the ship approached, Vansen noticed several creatures - humans, to his surprise - on board waving towards him and his crew. He waved back, and the human on board the metal ship pointed somewhere behind their metal ship. Within minutes, the metal ship had passed through it, along with several other metal ships, seemingly forming a defensive line around the large ship in front of it. The size of this flat-roofed ship was such that even its large bodyguards were dwarfed by it. The height of the flat-top was huge; vansen stared with his mouth agape as he tried to grasp the size of this giant. The ship, a floating fortress for him, was many times longer than his own ship. If he had to estimate, the ship was clearly of a length equivalent to at least 10 Qua Toynian warships and the height of at least 3 of its ships, including the mast of the ship.

“What kind of ship is this..?” the lieutenant asked, a combination of fear and wonder written on his face.

“It's not a ship. Construction that makes other giant ships look like ants.. It's more like a steel island!” exclamation Vansen. “Stay only, we have work to do. Men, get your gear ready! We will be preparing to investigate the ship!”

"Sir, how can we ride it?" ask lieutenant.

Vansen looked around the ship. The steel island seemed to be lowering most of itself, with the people on it waving, gesturing for them to approach. Vansen pointed there, saying, “I'm sure we should head there. We can ride using their magic platform.”

Vansen's ship approached the platform and he led his lieutenant and several guards there. He examined the people on the platform, who were not wearing armor, instead wearing a strange blue-colored conglomeration and a black vest in front of him. When Vansen thought about it, he realized that the strange blue uniform could be a useful camouflage in the ocean, but did not understand why anyone would need to camouflage themselves on the water. Moreover, this strange human was holding a sort of black rifle, directing them to the side as they stood like statues, silent and silent.

Passing through the platform there is a large hangar, with winged objects and magical lighting inside. Several crates were stacked along the walls, giving Vansen the impression that this area was definitely for storage. Is this a cargo ship? The platform rose slowly, issuing metal groans as it operated. When he reached the top of the deck, Vansen stared at the various winged objects arranged near the edge. As he analyzed the deck, he whispered to his men. “For Heaven's sake, the top of this ship is so big it might even be able to host a jousting match!”

His people nodded in agreement, muttering their own astonished words.

Similar to other metal ships, this one has a large tower with windows and a thin metal tower. From this tower, a white-clothed man appeared, emitting an aura of authority. He was accompanied by several men holding black rifles and a man dressed in dark blue, adorning his clothes with fashionable pins. Vansen noticed that the pin resembled a flag fluttering in the tower - which he did not recognize. The flag is attractive: a neat arrangement of stars against a blue background in the upper left corner, with white and red stripes elsewhere. He looked back at the people approaching.

“Friends, stay alert and present yourself as the honorable Qua Toyne warrior!” vansen's orders.

Vansen walked forward, giving him the Qua Toynian salute. “Greetings, I am Captain Vansen of the Second Fleet of the Navy Qua Toyne. You have entered our territorial waters and we would like to know the affiliation and destination of your vessel.”

The man in dark blue sighed, “Oh wah, glad to know we speak the same language. I'm Ambassador Samuel Anders,” he walked to shake the man's hand, “and the fine white-clothed man,” he pointed to the right.

"Admiral William Hawthorne" he saluted. “Welcome to USS Ronald Reagan.” He shook the hand of Captain Vansen. "You have a strong handshake, son," he nodded in agreement.

Captain Vansen received the compliment.

“Now, for our affiliates, we are from USA.” Ambassador Anders took out a paper from his suit pocket, opened it and displayed a map of the United States.

Captain Vansen accepted it, a dumbfounded expression plastered on his face. "United States? I have never heard of this nation. And this.the land is vast and very close to our shores! How come we never found this before?

“Unfortunately, we are a nation caught up. A strange storm envelops our world and for some reason disappears unexpectedly. After the storm clouds split, we found ourselves on this planet. By the way, what is this planet called?”

Captain Vansen scratched his head. “Oh... we actually.. never made a name for this world. Our knowledge of the world is not very broad, because we live in barbaric areas outside of civilized areas. Perhaps someone from a civilized country like the Parpaldian Empire can give you an answer. By the way, what is your purpose here?”

“Our goal is to establish contact with local civilizations such as your country 'Qua Toyne' and start diplomacy. A few hours ago, while studying the state of our transfer, we sent a large aircraft to conduct reconnaissance on this new planet: the RC-130. We sincerely apologize for disturbing your airspace.”

"So so. Excuse me, I have to report our meeting to my supervisor.”

“Of course, Captain Vansen.”

"Admiral! Priority transmission from Second Fleet!” A communications officer broke into Admiral Hayvan's office.

Admiral Hayvan let out a puff of smoke from his mouth as he tapped on his cigar. "What's that?"

“Master, Captain Vansen of the patrol ship QTS Kraken reported that the strange fleet they encountered was from the United States. An ambassador representing this country has apologized for the airspace violation that occurred earlier this morning, and has expressed a desire to start diplomatic talks with us.” The communications officer then made a double take, stuttering as he read the shocking report. “Dan... and what? United States Country relocated?”

“Hmm... Attractive,” Hayvan murmured while releasing another puff of smoke. “Sama like the legends of the countries that moved it huh? Maybe those people from Mu weren't joking, ”he sighed while getting up from his desk. “And on top of this news, to admit that they violated our airspace..”.

He walked out the door, sniffing his cigar before he left.

"Admiral, where are you going?"

“I'll go to the Capital! Our leader is currently discussing the airspace violation that occurred this morning, and its implications. I have to tell them about this new development.

Government Conference Area (Latus Park)

"What's with all this smoke?" An officer coughed. "Sir! You cannot enter this area; this meeting is only for authorized personnel!”

“I'm sorry, but I have urgent news regarding previous airspace violations!” Admiral Hayvan slipped past the officer.

“Admiral Hayvan of the Second Fleet? What are you doing here?" an official was shocked.

“Wah, wah... Nice to meet you too, Foreign Minister Matara.”

Foreign Minister Matara stood up, preparing a barrage of insults and profanities for the disturbance, but was stopped by a high fairy.

“Please, Minister of Foreign Affairs. I'm interested in what he said.” Prime Minister Kanata then turned to Admiral Hayvan. "I assume this is an urgent matter?"

“True, Prime Minister,” Hayvan bowed. "I'm sorry for the unexpected intrusion—"

Kanata raised her hand. “Don't worry, Admiral. Now, what do you want to inform us?”

Hayvan saluted. “We received a report from the Second Fleet, which said that they had identified a faction that owned the unidentified aircraft. The aircraft that flew over Maihark this morning was a United States mechanical construction, and they have dispatched a fleet of metal vessels to introduce themselves. On top of their fleet was an ambassador, who had expressed a sincere apology for violating our airspace and the desire to have diplomatic talks.”

"United States? Never heard of them, ”gumam an official.

“Yes, that's because this country is a moving country!” Hayvan announced.

The announcement was met with mixed reactions. Some officials laughed, thinking it was some kind of joke. Others consider the claim absurd, suggesting they ignore the United States alone. One of the officials was offended by the courage of the United States: intruding on the Qua Toynian airspace and then apologizing for an overt, he said, ridiculous act of hostility.

As the chatter subsided, Hayvan continued. “Some of you want to ignore the United States, and some of you want to act with hostility when they offer us diplomacy. There were also some here who thought the claims of the summoned country were absurd, yet we could see their magic planes and steel ships with our own eyes. Now, let me explain our unique position in all of this.

Our ally, the Kingdom of Quila, has an overall weak military, only finding strength in the superhuman characteristics of their animal human warriors. They are economically weak, even destitute. Because of the mountains and wastelands that separate our two countries, logistics are complicated. On our southwest border, the Kingdom of Louria has increased their troop presence along our border town; it seems like they are preparing for war.

Taking this into account, I ask those who want hostility towards the United States, what resources can we even set aside to fight them? Although we know nothing about their military capabilities, their ability to make flying beasts out of metal and steel islands clearly demonstrates their incredible technological superiority over us.

Sure, we can reject them, but what's the point? They have expressed positive intentions, and rejecting them can cause us to lose whatever they want to discuss and offer.” Hayvan ended his speech and turned to Kanata. "Prime Minister, what is your decision?"

Kanata scratched her chin, carefully considering the information provided by Hayvan. "That's so ... If that is the case, then we will accept their apologies and invite them for diplomatic talks tomorrow morning."

After the meeting is dissolved, Kanata walks back to her office alone, contemplating the strange events of the day. “United States.. A country that has extraordinarily advanced technology, similar to Mu and the Holy Milishial Empire' it offers large man-made aircraft and metal ships equipped with magic cannons. I wonder, who they are, and what they might be looking for in Qua Toyne?”

Off the coast of Maihark

april 30, 1639, 09:00

The United States Seventh Fleet

With an invitation to the Capital, Admiral Hawthorne ordered his men to dock off the coast of Maihark, as the fleet was unable to enter the small harbor in shallow waters. Ambassador Anders looked towards the city. A sizable crowd gathered along the pier, attracted by the fleet of giant metal ships off their coast. With not much to do other than monitor the radar, most of the crew of the Seventh Fleet appeared above the deck, waving towards the Maihark crowd, which kept them entertained.

After receiving the appropriate clearance and the corresponding landing zone from the government of Qua Toyne, the Americans prepared a pair of helicopters. Ambassador Anders waited near the helicopter while several men in yellow uniforms readied the vehicle. While waiting, he listened to some of the conversations the sailors had.

A marine waiting to board a helicopter, in particular, seems to be going through some sort of destruction. As Anders closed his eyes and focused on the man's words, he became curious about the story.

“... Bro, there's no way that's a dream. You saw the Japanese disappear, right? Dude, I wasn't even at the base and suddenly I was taken away at midnight, naked in front of the Colonel!”

"Dude, why are you naked?"

“Bro, I'm almost crazy about this Japanese girl! I was in his apartment and we were going to be steamy, take off our clothes and dirt, then he disappeared and I was at the base! The colonel gave me some clothes and we looked out the window. Bam! There's nothing there. Japan is completely gone, and all we see are a few islands. Fucking weird, I told ya.

Anders grinned as he eavesdropped on the rather hilarious story, wanting to know what happened to Japan and all the other countries on Earth. Several rumors have started circulating about their fate, one of which is the most popular. All the nations on Earth were removed, leaving the planet as a blank canvas. How valid is this theory? Evidently, this theory is the most popular among scientists and satellite operators within the military, who were able to see last-minute transmissions from satellites before the United States was taken away. Interestingly enough, many of these satellites appear to have also been taken away; maintaining a corresponding orbit proportional to the size of this new planet. Anders looked up, his head hurting from this rumination. "God, what's going on?"

"Not much" said a voice to his left. “Come Ambassadors, we are waiting for you.”

Anders followed the marines to the helicopter and they set off. Anders analyzed the landscape below, a city very similar to the renaissance-era cities of Europe. He sighed as the city became a speck in the background and took out some documents from his bag for review.

"We came in peace" he murmured to himself.
