The Angkara Murka

The Angkara Murka
The Book of Obong - Grandma

Satria Piningit hasn't seen Priyam in a while. He wasn't really looking for his best friend. After Wong Ayu's move, his heart was still quite wounded. Just like a teenager who is in love and heartbroken, he also cannot sleep, does not eat well, does not play the spirit, and does not concentrate on learning.

The letter that his parents sent him had not been read, let alone reply to him. Similarly, the money order in his hand had not been able to melt. This kind of mood made him lazy to do anything.

However, he also needs someone who can make his life again passionate. He finally felt the need to talk to Priyam. The afternoon after school he decided to go to a time, where he used to meet Priyam. The boy wasn't there. Satria Piningit decided to go home but went the other way, not the way he usually passed. It turned out that he avoided passing through the former home of Wong Ayu and his family lived. The reason is too obvious.

At first Satria Piningit was not so disappointed because he did not meet Priyam that afternoon. However, it had been a few days since Wong Ayu moved, he still really did not meet Priyam anyway. Did everyone closest to him leave him?

However, basically Satria Piningit was the one who felt bad. Priyam is his best friend. He should have met his best friend many days ago, not after feeling the need for someone to face the complaints of his life.

Therefore Satria Piningit asked the people in the village about Priyam's residence. First, of course he asked his peers in the village. Surprisingly, no one knows his house. Even worse, they claimed they did not know who Priyam was.

"He's a kid our age, often bare-chested and wearing knee-length drawstring pants" Satria Piningit explained. His peers are still shaking. Ah damn right, thought Satria Piningit. He knows they don't like Priyam's kind of kid. It has also been proven with Wong Ayu who was also shunned even until he and his family were forced to move. Satria Piningit thought maybe if Priyam was not a native of Obong village, he also had to leave this village for a long time.

Satria Piningit surrendered. He tried to ask older people, even trying to ask the client who lives in the back of the house building, which has a WC at home. He also claimed not to know. He did not want to ask the daughter and her brother who most likely did not memorize the names of children in the village.

It is too strange that many villagers, even adults, do not know or claim not to know Priyam.

Suddenly Satria Piningit remembered something. Priyam once said his father's name and fortunately he remembered, Ngalimun his name. It makes sense now that many older people don't know Priyam's name, but for other parents' names, it's different.

It was only then that Satria Piningit decided to directly ask his brother, who definitely nodded and pointed towards the north of the village.

Along the way Satria Piningit asked the people around. To Mr. Mardianto who was pulling the trunk of a ketella tree in front of his house, "North. Just follow that little road, son. I will meet the last house. It won't be wrong" he replied.

"Well, finally it turns out everyone knows Mr. Ngalimun. Fucking village teen kids. They pretended not to know Priyam. If you don't like it, please go ahead. But pretending not to know him like that makes me a little fed up" muttered Satria Piningit along the way in annoyance.

Does that mean Satria Piningit has slowly started to open her mind as Priyam and Wong Ayu meant? "They said when I started to open my mind, everything would be visible. Even I can see ghosts, said Priyam," again Satria Piningit muttered to himself.

Satria Piningit smiled considering Priyam, his best friend. This means it was his first time finally playing to Priyam's house. He can't wait to meet his best friend.

The house was very spacious with decorated with several types of orchid plants. There was a small fence before entering the courtyard. When Satria Piningit was about to open the wall, suddenly a grandmother stood before him. The figure of the grandmother stood bent, while her face pointed towards Satria Piningit with both of her eyeballs directly staring deeply into the eyes of the boy.

Satria Piningit was shocked to death. He jerked backwards. Fortunately, he did not swear. Could be good, he thought. Where did these grandmothers suddenly appear?

"Newun sewu, mbah. Can I come in?" asked Satria Piningit even though with a rumble in the chest that still did not stop because of the surprise earlier.

The grandmother did not answer. His long gray and white hair was almost thorough and tied in a bun-style it was a little disheveled. He wears a shabby green daily kebaya. Her naked feet blackened. Instead of answering Satria Piningit's question, the grandmother turned to her back.

That's when Satria Piningit saw the back of the grandmother perforated as big as a coconut.

Not only that, the back of the grandmother's head broke apart, showing blood drying and the inside of the head being difficult to explain so badly.

Satria Piningit swore a solemn oath, "Too, motherfucker, motherfucker!" This time, Satria Piningit was jolted backwards more violently than before until she fell to the ground.

His breathing was hunting, his body was unusually limp.

"You can only see the good things, wait until you open your mind or wait until you are a little mature enough to see the bad things, then your inner eyes will be open, too," priyam's speech at the beginning of the two met ringing in the ears of Satria Piningit.

It is undeniable, this is the first time Satria Piningit has seen a ghost. A grandmother with a hollow back and a crushed back of the head. Satria Piningit was crazily goosebumps and prepared to leave the place.

However, when he managed to stand up, he suddenly stopped like a coward to see Priyam's house in front of him. The figure of the grandmother was actually lost swallowed by mystery like never existed at all. Satria Piningit was embarrassed. He was ashamed of Priyam and Wong Ayu who had been used to seeing things like this for the rest of their lives. While he often joked and did not consider these things for real. Now with his own eyes he finally managed to see a ghost and instead wanted to run away in a storm.

"Can't! I have to meet Priyam," Satria Piningit's inner voice shouted.

Therefore, with the courage that was forced, he opened the small fence and slowly entered with a wander in search of the existence of the figure of the grandmother who was clearly lost like swallowed by the earth. He was still goosebumps and so limp, but still walked towards the door of Priyam's house.

This is a mission of courage, as well as a sense of appreciation and redemption of guilt to his two friends. With the passing of Wong Ayu and a long time without meeting Priyam, Satria Piningit found a reality that he had not previously noticed and cared about at all. Perhaps it is this awareness that opens his mind and heart. The ghost grandmother is real proof.
