The Clutches of Lonely Vampires

The Clutches of Lonely Vampires
Elena Irys

Elena smiled and tucked the knit jacket all over her body as she pushed through the bedroom window to breathe the mid-March spring air. The temperature begins to rise slowly until the atmosphere becomes warmer than winter which requires a lot of rest at home.

The reddish-brown girl stepped up with a burst of fervor when the woman who had given birth to her twenty-two years ago called out to her from downstairs.

The smell of honey cake shimmered in the air. The girl inhaled it deeply and smiled widely.

"Mom, I have to go to the college grounds for some riding practice. Next week I'm going to a horse racing tournament. Mom agrees?"

Julianne absolutely could not ban her daughter's hobby of riding, since childhood Elena had lived on a plantation owned by their family who had a lot of farm animals. Including the racehorse. Elena has one horse named Hayley, her favorite horse is a female.

Julianne nodded resignedly, she instantly got an attack from Elena with a warm embrace.

"I love you, mommy." she exclaimed. Instead of feeling upset her daughter was still like a crumbling durian fall teenage girl, Julianne raised her son's body. They're circling like compasses.

"Get me daddy and ask his permission, you need to be best friends with him Elena. Mark misses you." Julianne said. They stopped with breath.

Elena nodded weakly.

"Daddy would disagree mom, she was traumatized to see you fall and your leg break. He was afraid it would happen to me. He was worried about me so much maybe just like the time he was worried about you!" cerocos Elena cutting a still-warm honey cake. While Julianne sighed, her past memories suddenly teased her noisily.

"Mom, are you okay?" ask Elena.

Julianne rubbed her face with the napkin while looking back at Elena.

The girl shrugged her shoulders. "Mommy must be kangen papa."

Elena chewed on it without taste until the beeps in her pants pocket made her pull the phone. Half-heartedly he listened to someone on the phone and nodded.

"Mom, Reyand is outside. I'll go first." Without finishing the cake, Elena moved on, cramming her phone into her pants while kissing Julianne's left cheek.

"Mommy's better meet daddy!"

"You!" Julianne swerves. "Be careful, Ela." Julianne screamed as her little daughter ran quickly up the stairs, before long, as fragrant as lavender perfume sniffed in the dining room. Elena kissed Julianne again on the cheek before taking a quick step towards Reyand on the shoulder of the road.

They smiled broadly, the two equestrian athletes punching each other in the arms as a greeting of meeting before getting into the car.

"We're going straight to the campus stables, Ela. How do you think?" ask Reyand while driving.

"Hayley's there, Rey. So I think I agree anyway. I miss her, one week she's not home." I'm Elena who made her mess with her hair. Anxious was Reyand to Elana, but the pastor's son from an old cathedral always kept his distance.

"Sir Robin must have fed him well, Ela. You know, Robin Slalu likes college horses more than having to deal with cops or animal hospitals." Reyand reminded me of the sloth.

Elena looked up, then she turned her head after Reyand's car passed through the plantation with thick trees and turned into a street bigger than the settlement where Elena lived.

Fifteen minutes apart, the Victorian low-rise buildings are replaced by tall and luxurious gothic buildings. The cathedral where Mark lives.

"After training, I'm going to see Papa Rey" said Elena, breaking her silence.

"For?" Reyand.

"All of a sudden I miss him." Elena muttered.

Once again with an increased feeling of anxiety, Reyand's hands gently rubbed Elena's head, then ruffled Elena's brownish-red hair casually.

"I'll definitely take you."

At the campus stables—building used as a stables— nine athletes-in-arms Elena was already in the parking lot while sipping soft drinks.

Elena and Reyand walked up to them with a smile. Before long, the coach who came out of the stables on horseback waved while ringing a whistle.

In a hurry, the nine equestrian athletes dumped the rest of the fizzy drinks into the trash. The sound of clontang sounded earthy before the clattering of footsteps sounded noisier.

"Yes, sir."

Sir Thomas pointed inwardly, telling his protege to take each horse.

In a hurry Elena happily whistled fiercely in front of cage number five, Hayley who was dark brown neighed, her legs crumpled with a pile of dry hay and feces.

Hayley's circle continued to soar after witnessing the owner in front of her eyes.

"Whispering knows." ledek Sophia from the cage next door as if the envy of his horse only greeted him with a lazy face.

Elena smashed her lips, trying to dampen the excitement of her horse by giving him new straw piled up on a cart near the wall and where the horse saddle was displayed on the iron cross. Elena smiled, she stroked Hayley's forehead after the horse's neigh subsided.

Half an hour later, after successfully installing the saddle and equip themselves with protective equipment. Eleven athletes and Sir Thomas headed for the racetrack. A wide flat area near a network of cool-air green hills.

Elena spurred on her horse, passing through the crossbar with different heights. Every now and then the girl throws a smile at Reyand who is waiting for his turn on the sidelines.

His adrenaline rushes over Hayley who doesn't mind carrying forty-five pounds. After completing her training for no less than half an hour, the girl took Hayley to a special cage.

Elena smiled proudly as she patted the horse's body with her tiny hands.

"You're still great, Hayley. Let's take a break."

As memorized by the post-workout routine, Hayley waited for Elena to prepare a bucket of water and pinacium maximum grass with her mouth open, dissipating her body heat.

Elena stroked Hayley's forehead before joining her friends in the audience pulpit.

"Sir Thomas advises us to try a new track before tomorrow's game, the old man said. Our horses must be refreshing." said Sophia slowly in the final sentence. "So where do we practice?"

"Deep forest of Delucia!" exclaim Andrew. His hands were raised, gathering votes from all his friends.

Elena who objected to the selection of the place hesitated to raise her hand.

The deep forest? Who wants to go there after the hibernation season?

But inevitably Elena had to agree, the junior athlete was forced to raise his hand after Reyand who had just come down from the saddle of the horse to raise his hand without knowing the cause of the musabab.

"Basic!" Suddenly Elena became chaotic, she felt her legs so heavy stepping and permission from her father would be more difficult if she had to train in the dense forest of Delucia.

"I'm sure papa wouldn't agree. Huh."
