The Mystery of Black Rabbit Lake

The Mystery of Black Rabbit Lake
Chapter 15 - The Corpse

A man whistled, walking along an uneven path, while holding a fishing rod on his shoulder. The other hand carried an empty bucket. Inside there is a small net, a plastic box of green color, a string of fishing line and fishing line. The man's back appeared slightly bent, carrying a large and heavy backpack.

He continued to walk forward, entering the yellowish-coloured high weed field, fluttering it with his arms still free to move, as all his fingers were full. He continued to walk through the fields until he saw a beautiful lake that was calm illuminated by the moonlight of night. The day had changed, but the sun had not shown the trunk of his nose, so the cold air still enveloped the area around the lake, even a thin fog slowly came to approach the man.

He put down his bucket and fishing gear after he found a suitable place to start his favorite hobby, camping and freshwater fishing. Put the backpack down on the ground, then open it slowly. He pulled something of a long shape from inside the backpack. A long black bag, inside containing 40 cm of iron and a black parachute fabric that folds neatly. The man widened the parachute cloth and inserted the iron into the holes at the ends of the parachute cloth until the iron came out from the other side of the parachute cloth tip, pulling it up and up… a tent was successfully built by the man in an instant.

The man then went inside the tent and took out the contents of his backpack. Blankets, small folding chairs, pans, teapots, tableware, water thermos, some packs of instant noodles and coffee. Organize everything neatly, then exit the tent while carrying a small folding chair and blanket. Walk near the lake, then open the folding chair and put a blanket on it. Walk back to the tent to pick up the fishing rod and bucket and return to the nearby lake. Setting up his fishing rod, opening the green box, looked a lot of worms busy wriggling to make him amused. He picked up a worm and stuck it in the fishing line. After that he immediately threw his hook into the lake where the water was black. After waiting for a while, the hook seemed to be stuck in something heavy. The man smiled then rolled up his fishing line quickly, his heart was impatient to catch the fish that had eaten the bait. He continued to roll and something black appeared to pop out from within the lake and started to approach him.

“What is it? It doesn't seem like a fish. Is that plastic waste in the lake?" he said to throw out silence. Continuing to roll the fishing line, after something was already nearby, he then lifted the fishing line. And a head with a pale, paper-white face with eyes closed and a blue mouth suddenly lifted and was near his nose.

“Kyaaa....,” strangled the man with all his might, removed his fishing line and fell to the ground.

“Mayat... cadaver... cadaver..," he said in fear as he pulled his body back from the edge of the lake. His heart was beating hard, cold sweat pouring down his forehead. All his life he had never seen a corpse, especially during the night, quiet and no one with him. He reached into his jacket pocket, picked up his satellite phone. His hand shook violently until his phone came off and fell to the ground.

My carelessness, the man's inner.

He then took his phone and immediately pressed the emergency button to call the police.

“Hallo, here is service 119 ready to help you when in an emergency situation. Mention your current condition" said officer 119.

“I...I found a body in the lake," said the man terrified.

“Please mention the location you are in and we will send our team members to it soon.”

“I am in the lake of black rabbits. In the covered part of the weed field, quickly come. I was very scared.”

“Good, we have noted, our team is now sliding to your location. Now calm yourself and give your identity.”

The man took a breath, his heart was a little relieved, team 119 had already responded well.

“My name is Chandra, 37 years old, I was fishing in the lake, suddenly my hook was about something and I pulled it, it was stuck on a corpse.”

“Good, please you wait quietly until our team comes to the location.”

“Iya, I will wait, but please don't hang up my phone. Here quiet no one at all, I'm scared once.”

“Good, don't be afraid, sir. I'm not gonna hang up on this. I will accompany you to talk. Is there an item near you that can make you calm, such as warm drinks or warm blankets?”

“I have a warm drink in the tent. I'm going to the tent and leave the body in the lake" said the man as quickly as lightning grabbed the blanket on his folding chair and ran towards the tent.

“Yes, go back to the tent and make a warm drink to calm down, sir. After that we will talk back.”

Hendra, Budi, Linda and Hari immediately came to Black Rabbit Lake after getting a call from the police station. They arrived at the scene as ambulances were lifting stretchers containing body bags from the edge of the lake.

“Wait, we want to check the body first," said Hendra asking ambulance officers to stop his steps. And showed his police badge to the ambulance guy.

The ambulance officer nodded and allowed Hendra to open the body bag.

Kretttt. A man's pale face slurped from behind a pocket of orange color. Hendra opened it wider and saw the man's neck was blue as a result of being snared at something. Hendra then noticed the clothes and body of the corpse. No stab wounds or anything. Hendra then closed the zipper of the body bag and retreated.

The ambulance officer nodded again and walked back carrying a stretcher to the ambulance parked behind the weeds.

“It looks like the man died from being snared by a rope" Hendra told his team.

A junior police officer who had been at the scene approaching Hendra wanted to provide data on the identity of the body found. He saluted Hendra.

“Report. The body found in the lake is named Agus Setiabudi, 35 years old, working as a security guard at the residence of Zeus Anthony, a murder victim a few days ago. The corpse will be taken to the forensic department for autopsy and we will inform the family seceptnya," said Junior Police who brought a bag of clear plastic containing ID card, a work card as a security guard at the home of Greek owner Kingdom Group and a black wallet containing a lot of money.

Hendra nodded. All the members of his team were shocked. Satpam Agus, who disappeared without a trace, was finally found dead drowned in the Black Rabbit Lake.

“What about the TKP of the discovery of the body, is there a tool to end the life of the body?" ask Hendra.

“We're looking for him, sir. To date, nothing has been found. It looks like the victim was snared on a rope and then dumped in this deserted lake" the Junior Police replied.

“Alright, contact our team if you have found evidence or something strange," ordered Hendra.

“Ready, Sir," said Junior Police in his honor.

“Yeah, case one is not finished, now instead the missing witness, found dead. Haish..," Linda said.

Hendra's team immediately returned to their respective homes and Hendra decided to hold a meeting tomorrow after the report of the autopsy on the cause of Agus' death came out.
