The Skewers House

The Skewers House
Prambudi and Mas Adi

Punch after blow hit Prambudi's body. He cannot resist or evade. Four large-bodied men surrounded and one of them had locked Prambudi. It's an unfair fight. Prambudi only became a living samsak for the roofless Pak Doto.

Prambudi temple feels sore, as well as the corner of his lips feels rancid. Fresh blood is pouring out from there. His gaze began to blur, there was a throbbing sensation in the right eye. Several times Prambudi also vomited, his heart was hit 3 to 4 times by a landslide.

As Prambudi's consciousness began to fade, there was a faint sound of screaming.

The Doorrrr Doorrrr

The sound of a firearm into the air. That's when the lock on Prambudi's neck was released. Likewise, the tubi punch that had previously continued to hit Prambudi's body, has now stopped. Prambudi collapsed onto the asphalt, while Pak Doto's tile men ran into the car and immediately fled.

"You all right?" A voice asked Prambudi.

Prambudi looked up, watching the person who was helping him.

"My name is Tarji, I'm a police officer on patrol" Tarji said, introducing himself to Prambudi.

Tarji reached out his hand to help Prambudi stand up. Prambudi finally managed to stand up. His legs were trembling, his footing was still weak. Several times Prambudi spit, throwing out the blood that filled his mouth.

Another police officer approached. It was Mas Adi, a colleague of Tarji who had fired a warning shot into the air. Mas Adi noticed the man who had just been beaten by Mr. Doto's men. And the next second Mas Adi was shocked, as if he could not believe what he saw.

"Prambuty? You are Prambudi right?," Mas Adi looked at Prambudi, he slightly shook Prambudi's shoulder, as if he had forgotten that his interlocutor was in pain.

Prambudi looked at Mas Adi. His vision was a little blurry, his right eye was swollen. Slowly Prambudi land was able to see clearly the figure of the police officer who helped him earlier. His voice and eyes felt so familiar.

"Adi?" Prambudi was shocked.

"You know each other?" Tarji stared at Prambudi and Mas Adi alternately.

* * *

The car that Tarji was driving came out of a clinic in K sub-district. Mas Adi sat in the back seat with Prambudi who had received medical help. Seen bandages attached to several parts of his body.

"Remain sure it is not just hospitalization?," asked Mas Adi to Prambudi.

"No need, it's healed" answered Prambudi briefly.

"Can you take me back to the office?" Prambudi glanced at his watch. At half-hour two noon, already passed far from the break.

"I'm sorry, I asked permission from your place of work. There is something we need to ask you Budi," said Mas Adi, his gaze looked serious.

"Now where are we going? To your house?" Tarji turned his head, asking Prambudi.

"Don't!," Prevent Prambudi fast.

Mas Adi exchanged glances with Tarji. He was a little confused and felt strange with Prambudi's attitude.

"Why?," Mas Adi asked in surprise.

"Emm anu, I don't want the house people to see me battered and ushered two police officers like this," Prambudi replied brickly.

Mas Adi understood Prambudi's reasons. Finally they decided to stop at a place to eat not far from the clinic where Prambudi got the treatment earlier.

"Well, I don't like to see you again after all this time, under these circumstances" Prambudi said slowly.

"A minute, you guys know each other? Schoolmate or brother?," Tarji interjected, actually from earlier he wanted to ask.

"This priest is my brother," replied Mas Adi steadily.

"Huh? Didn't you grow up in an orphanage?" Tarji was shocked by Mas Adi's reply.

"Yes, Prambudi and I are brothers without blood ties. The three of us grew up in an orphanage," said Mas Adi, glaring at his eyes.

"Third? One more who?" Tarji asked again.

"One more is an older sister, Ma'am Retno," Mas Adi looked at Prambudi who seemed reluctant to talk about his past story.

"Budi, do you know where Retno is now?" Mas Adi asked Prambudi.

"I don't know," Prambudi shook his head slowly.

"Well we both from childhood have the figure of an older brother who always protects. When the caretaker is angry, punishing us, there is Retno who always gives affection, willing to replace the punishment we receive," Mas Adi sighed, his gaze was distant.

"Can't we not talk about that right now. I have no intention of nostalgia, let alone in a body full of wounds like this. There is enough physical pain that I think, there is no need to open a story of sadness from the past," Prambudi said with a ketus. He really doesn't like the subject.

"I'm sorry. Meeting you again was one of my wishes since Budi," Mas Adi patted Prambudi's arm. His heart was so longed for that 'his brother. But Prambudi just kept quiet, impressed cold.

"Ehemk. All right, we change the subject. Why were you beaten up by Mr. Doto's men? What's your problem with Mr. Doto?" Tarji finally took over the conversation. He realized his current partner could not focus on meeting with the brother from his past.

"He's my in-law. And our relationship is not good. That's it," Prambudi answered short.

"Huh? You're the rich businessman's son-in-law?" Tarji jumped in shock.

"Yes a very wealthy businessman, and this is where I am battered" Prambudi pointed to his swollen right eyelid.

"Why are you, police officers watching over my in-laws? What case was he involved in?" Prambudi asked this time.

"This is still our guess. But we suspect your in-laws may have something to do with the disappearance of several women" Tarji answered quickly. Hearing Tarji's statement, Prambudi closed his mouth. Prambudi kept silent.

"I don't know anything about that. Besides, I'm not living at home with him anymore" Prambudi opened his mouth after a moment of silence.

"Now I can go, right? I don't know anything about the cases you're dealing with. Sorry, I have something to do, so I beg you to say goodbye" Mas Adi stood up from his seat. Tarji sat down, not liking Prambudi's attitude.

"Budi, you are so changed," said Mas Adi after observing Prambudi's attitude earlier.

"I haven't changed Adi. I just try to live my life as well as I can. The past is just the past. I don't want to live in a nostalgic space, because my future is with my family right now. Not with you or Retno. I pray for your success, and may we never see each other again" Prambudi walked away leaving Mas Adi and Tarji staring at his departure with astonished expressions.

Mas Adi sighed softly. While Tarji looked at Mas Adi asking for an explanation.
