The System Make Me Near With The Emperor
Chapter 12

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Xie Hongyi asked as he sensed Wan'er looking at him with an adoring gaze.

Wan'er flinched, then he regained his senses.

"It's okay, ma'am,"

"I thought you were imagining your future husband" Xie Hongyi joked.

Wan'er's face turned red. At this age, it is the usual age to get married. But he was just a waiter. Once in a while, she had thought about what if she had a husband.

"No," Wan'er replied with a stutter.

Xie Hongyi laughed with Wan'er's innocent manner.

The palace courtyard seemed busy with many people passing by. The courtyard was also filled with many wooden carriages parked around every corner. Each carriage was pulled with two horses that looked strong.

About a sichen later, all the preparations had been completed. Several officials and nobles began to climb onto their respective chariots.

Xie Hongyi who was standing in front of his own carriage, commented inwardly. So many people took part in this journey, but few were familiar with it.

Xie Hongyi saw Huang Long enter the largest and most luxurious carriage together with a woman. Xie Hongyi guessed that it was Empress Shi.

It was indeed worthy to bear such a big title, she was indeed very beautiful and looked graceful.

He recalled that Empress Shi was from the Prime Minister's family. The entire community knew that Empress Shi was famous for her beauty and cleverness. It is said that he is also good at playing some musical instruments, good at singing, and good at making poetry.

With such good beauty and talent, which man could resist?

Then as their carriage was about to depart, Xie Hongyi saw someone coming towards the Emperor's carriage.

The man's face was handsome and looked calm. It seemed like he was an important person in the palace because when he was close to the carriage, Huang Long and Empress Shi came out and the three of them conversed.

Xie Hongyi then knew from the system that he was the Royal Counselor, Shi XuanRan. The system says that she is the half-sister of Empress Shi and is Huang Long's childhood friend.

I don't know what they were talking about, but Xie Hongyi faintly heard words like this.

"I'm not going to go on this hunt. There's urgent business I need to finish,"

"alright. That's not a problem. Then we're leaving." After Huang Long said that he entered the carriage followed by Empress Shi after he said his greetings to her brother.

"Be careful." The Royal Counsel returned the favor and he left.

The large group finally moved.

"We also need to move. You guys come with me to the train." Xie Hongyi said to his three servants.

The servants entered Xie Hongyi's carriage. The inside of the carriage was large, it could accommodate up to 6 people.

When the great company passed through several cities, they became a spectacle. Many people also kneeled when they found out that the group came from the palace.

As a person who held high regard for equality, Xie Hongyi slightly objected to the actions of these respect-hungry higher-ups.

It's getting dark. The journey is still far away and they have to pass through an area far from the crowd. The group decided to set up a camp on a large grass field.

If they wanted to rent an inn, they would probably arrive by nightfall at a nearby town.

These servants and soldiers were extremely deft and quick. They finished making a few tents before the sun completely sunk.

The people inside the train started to come out. Perhaps due to the tiredness of the trip, they quickly went inside the tent and did not come out again.

Xie Hongyi also went down with his servants and entered the tent.

By midnight, everyone had fallen asleep except for a few bodyguards on patrol.

Without making any sound, Xie Hongyi walked out of the tent under her disguise.

He walked very carefully so as not to make a sound. Xie Hongyi then hid in a proper corner. From here he could see the whole state of the camp but no one would be able to see it.

Someone seemed to approach the Emperor's tent. That person obviously had no good intentions, as a moment later he released an arrow at the two guards without a sound.

As he opened the tent, he suddenly collapsed. Turns out, Xie Hongyi also slid an arrow right into the person's back and hit his heart.

A rustling sound was heard from inside the tent. Then the tent was opened from within and Huang Long's dashing figure came out wearing the same clothes earlier this afternoon.

Huang Long then looked at the three people lying on the ground, he could confirm that the three people had died because he could not feel their breath.

Not long after, then Dugu An came.

"Your Majesty, are you okay?"

"I'm doing fine. Where were you from?"

"I chased after a few murderers and after finishing it I came here."

Apparently so. Some people deliberately distracted Dugu An, then another one who was in charge of killing Huang Long.

Dugu An then looked at the people who were sprawled. He recognized the other two, but the other one looked foreign.

"It's..." Dugu An did not finish his words and looked at Huang Long.

"The murdered killer. I don't know who's helping us."

"Maybe the queen mother?" Dugu An guessed.

"No way."

Huang Long then stopped guessing and ordered Dugu An to take care of the three bodies.

He felt someone was watching him. But, that person had no killing intent. Huang Long tried to find her but due to the minimal illumination and it seemed like the person was good at hiding, he found nothing.

After seeing Huang Long re-entering the tent, the two soldiers who had changed guard and Dugu An who had disappeared somewhere, Xie Hongyi did not move for a while.

After making sure that nothing would happen, he hurried away.

Naas, due to the lack of illumination of the return path he chose, he accidentally bumped into someone. She was Empress Shi. Both fell to the ground.

The night wind blew fiercely and flew the veil that covered half of Xie Hongyi's face.

"Ouch!" After Empress Shi fell, she quickly saw the person who hit her. He then knew that it was Consort Xie.

Putting aside his veil cloth that flew out somewhere, Xie Hongyi instantly got up.

"Concubine Xie saluted Empress Shi."

"I accept your respect. Now help me get up," Empress Shi reached out toward Xie Hongyi.

Xie Hongyi then helped her wake up.

"What are you doing in the middle of the night?" Empress Shi asked after she managed to stand up.

"I was just walking around for a fresh breeze. If I may know, what does the Empress do? Should now the Empress accompany Her Majesty?"

"Walk?" Empress Shi caught a glimpse of the clothes Xie Hongyi was wearing.

Xie Hongyi also noticed his gaze.

"Ah this. I just feel comfortable wearing it."

"Oh. You asked me what I was doing out last night, right? I hungry. So I'm looking for some things to eat." Answer Empress Shi.

"The Queen should rest immediately. It's not good to linger with the night wind." Xie Hongyi suggested.

"You're right. Then I'm leaving. Good night." After saying that sentence, he passed leaving Xie Hongyi.

"Good night." Xie Hongyi replied then he also left immediately.

After entering the tent, Empress Shi found Huang Long dealing with documents that seemed to be related to the government. Then he sat down on the edge of the bed while staring at Huang Long.

"I just met Consort Xie. He he suggested that I should get some rest. But it seems that suggestion is more suitable for His Majesty."

"Oh? Really true?" Huang Long replied with a fixed bow taking care of the documents before him.

"So I saw Consort Xie come out. He's wearing weird clothes."

It was only then that Huang Long raised his head and looked at Empress Shi.

"What kind of clothes?"

"All the clothes he was wearing were black. I also just realized it looks like he's coming from this direction." Empress Shi replied smoothly.

The corner of Huang Long's mouth was slightly drawn upwards. It seemed like he knew who the little rabbit was helping him.
