THE WEIYAN PALACE
The rain fell slowly as dusk came over Weiyan Palace, the rain was very fine and dense, hitting the palace's precariousness until it rang like an abstract rhythm of song. Spring with the first rain is very soothing, the weather becomes cold and humid and the air contains a penetrating cold. Empress Xiao Yi took out a white fox-furred silk robe whose arms were decorated
embroidery clouds and peony flowers.
"Chu Cu made ginger tea for His Majesty." he ordered in a soft voice at Dayang Chu Cu who came to bring a warm cloth to Yan Xi Yuhuan's daughter, princess His Majesty Yan Yue and Empress Xiao Yi were fast asleep on a small wooden cot in the shape of a carved box of mahogany wood. The little girl was only eight months old, if it was night then Xiao Yi would nurture her by herself.
Chu Cu bowed, and went to the small kitchen to make ginger tea, as his lord ordered.
"Your Majesty it's cold weather, it's best for Your Majesty to go up and rest in bed." Proposed Xiao Yi gently while attaching the fox fur silk robe to the shoulders of the noble Yan Yue.
His Highness Yan Yue did not budge, she was still fixated on staring at her beautiful daughter, who was sleeping comfortably, her chest rising up and down with a strange rhythm. Sometimes slowly sometimes sometimes quickly. That's a baby's normal breath.
"Yuhuan is beautiful, your face is getting more and more like your mother." Said His Eminence Yan Yue while pulling the corner of her lips, developing a gentle smile. Xiao Yi glanced at His Majesty and said that the look was actually still gloomy, he was just looking for comfort from his son's face.
Before long Chu Cu appeared with a tray containing a pot of ginger tea that was still puffing smoke from the hole of his mouth, the smell of spicy and warm ginger burst forth.
"Or let's warm up Your Majesty, let's drink this ginger tea first." Xiao Yi sat in front of a small wooden table in his room, usually as his reading table. His Majesty sighed, then gently kissed Princess Yuhuan's eyelids then sat down across from Xiao Yi, staring at the thinly gulping tea greeting from the tea poured by Xiao Yi into the porcelain glass.
"Your Majesty drink," Xiao Yi thrust the glass containing ginger tea into His Majesty's hands.
His Majesty lowered his head, in the shadow in the tea water his countenance looked grim, with the fingers of his hand, he lightly poked his forehead, then said in a low voice, saying,
"The death of the queen mother was terrible, she hung all night on the branch of the Wisteria tree, without anyone knowing. His death must have been painful."
Xiao Yi sighed, this empress's face looked flat.
"Suri's mother certainly could not accept the death of Zhao Juren with room, she no longer had the support and purpose of life, her son had died on the battlefield without a body that can be remembered, he said, of course that was the reason for ending his life." His Majesty put his tea glass back on the table, his gaze glaring. However, Empress Dowager Li Sui also had merit in raising herself that her mother had left behind when she died in childhood. And after sixteen years, His Highness the old king Houcun died and he was crowned king, suri Li Sui's mother was the only one she considered a parent in spite of all the crimes her father's concubine had planned and committed.
Xiao Yi was speechless, his heart grievously hiding one truth that Zhao Juren was still alive freshly fit and was probably now on the land of the enemy of their Country.
But the mourning period was over, and the fact that Zhao Juren was still alive was only discovered when the funeral was over. How could he explain all that? And if everyone knew Zhao Juren was saved by one who might be quite important from the Niangxi kingdom, then, couldn't it create new rumors and hot fireballs in the politics that were rippling under Yanzhi's land? Zhao Juren could have been accused of plotting an alliance with an enemy state, given that his mother had conspired in an attempt to overthrow the king several years ago.
The name of a child will not be separated from the shadow of the mistakes of his parents, every time a small mistake can make people raise their index finger in evil accusations. Now the best is just following the flow and scenario of nature, isn't the destiny of the sky irreversible?
"What about the Queen Mother's body?" Xiao Yi asked then slowly, he really did not know what the outcome of the council session in Guang Li Hall was this afternoon, regarding the funeral of Empress Dowager Li Sui.
"His body was placed in the temple of Sunyen for the next week, while the ghost was carried out by the nuns. The Palace Council rejected Suri's mother's body taken to Zuihou Temple and buried in the royal family's tomb because the queen mother was considered the biggest traitor in Yanzhi. Previously the queen mother was about to be dragged to the Palace Court to prosecute her crime, only all this time I tried to keep Juren's feelings, even though he was the son of the queen mother's birth. And before being in court the queen mother had decided her own destiny. His dishonorable death was also considered a crime, so the queen mother was considered unfit to return to the palace even if it was just her body." His Majesty looked straight at Xiao Yi, he was impartial to no one in this matter despite the many things Suri's mother had done in an attempt to harm him. He's not vengeful.
Xiao Yi nodded his head while pouring more ginger tea into the glass, now the tea was poured for His Majesty and also for him.
"Is this fair you think?" Asked His Majesty slylyly, Xiao Yi raised her beautiful and calm face.
"In the world, fair measures differ in value from the point of view of everyone concerned, but for the Queen Mother, for her crimes against the state, it is the State that is entitled to a proper punishment. The law is made and applies to obey, when someone violates it then he certainly can not be separated from the reward. When we break the laws of the country, it is the country that deserves to punish it. But as a child, do your duty as a child, while still respecting him, even to bury him properly."
"How am I going to go against the decisions of the whole palace and the laws in force? Traitors are not to be buried in the palace grounds."
