By taking the road accidentally setting the stadium on fire, he manages to save an amusement park from closure.
So far it's good (though it's not), but they're not out of trouble yet.
One month ago, Kanie Seiya accepted a position as managing manager at Amagi Brilliant Park, an amusement park in western Tokyo. It is now April, and once he enters his second year of high school, Seiya will deal with many of the issues he previously deferred.
The consequences of their prolonged discount campaign; a decline in the number of arrivals as they return to their usual prices; laziness arises from the cast, now that imminent danger is already behind them.
They may have had a year of relief, but the most important issue is still there. AmaBuri is still an ugly amusement park, and if they don't bring 600,000 guests as of next March, this time, the park will be completely closed. Diverting the equivalent of a football stadium to the park would not work a second time; if they wanted to increase arrivals, they would have to fight their problems head-on.
In other words, even if it's only April, they should move immediately.
And in the mind of the Managing Manager Seiya, their most pressing issue was—
...----------------...
“Not enough people!” Kanie Seiya shouted into the conference room. That was the first week of April.
Others gathered around the cheesy table were the most important cast members of Amagi Brilliant Park. They were not all old men in costumes either. Many of them are strange creatures, three heads tall: stuffed rodents, strange dinosaur-like creatures with scales and horns, fantastic creatures from various places, all grim expressions. They are ‘asli’ mascots who all come from one or another magical realm to work in this human theme park.
“We don't have enough people,” repeat Seiya. “Actually, there are so many that we don't quite have, but the labor must be dealt with immediately. Maintenance, food preparation, cleaning. We need to increase the number of staff in those areas!”.
While Seiya was irritated and clenched his hands tightly, the others present at the meeting all seemed rather indifferent.
“I think we have enough staff..” Sento Isuzu dressed in deep red muttered.
Isuzu is a member of a magical natural kingdom bodyguard named Maple Land. He has been given the official title ‘Head of Secretarial Department’ from April.
“No! Let's take an example. Sento, you have the title ‘Head of Secretariat’ Department that sounds glorious, right? But how many people are in that department? Say!”
“One.”
“Ya, one! We.. well, we may not need more secretaries, but. The point is, we have too many departments that are only managed by one person! And again.. Okuro Security Head!”
“Ah, yes?” Okuro, the security guard, raised his hand as he was called. He was just an ordinary man, not from any magical realm. There are other old security guards who take care of the night shift, and generally, the security staff are all human.
“How many people in the security team?” Seiya.
“Four,” Okuro replied, “although two of them are part-time workers..” In a three-shift system, that means there will always be exactly one person in the security center at all times.
“Fast! And that's all the people we have to give security to an area of 500,000 square meters? That's insane! What if a madman with a kitchen knife went on a rampage on stage? Are you enough to stop him, Okuro?!”
“Well, don't worry, Kanie-san,” said the security guard reassured. “I will sacrifice my life to stop any villain.”
“You will sacrifice your life, right?” Seiya countered. “And what happened after that? While you're lying face down in a sea of blood with a dozen stab wounds, he'll move on to another guest! Stupid!”
“Ah, fair enough!” Okuro sat down, stuck out his tongue (a gesture that was twice as annoying) and rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment.
“No need to worry, Seiya. I will be happy to kill any villain that bothers me, fumo.” said Moffle, the cast leader.
Moffle is the star character of AmaBuri. He was short, fat, and soft like a wombat or a mouse, and wore a stylish bow-tie and hat.
“You're going to kill them? Did ya? Can you imagine the headlines the next day?” Seiya advises..“‘Main Star Amagi Brilliant Park Kills Villains with Excessive Strength.’ You really think it'll bring in guests?”
“Your job is to make guests happy, not kill people!”
“If you insist, fumo..” Moffle does not seem sure, but Seiya decided to continue.
“Not only security.” he continued. “We lack energy in each of our jobs. The cast on stage already worked in place of where they could, but the burden negatively affected their performance. It can't be continued.”
“...You mean we should hire more people?” Isuzu.
“Ya.”
“Although we have no money?” he urges.
“I also worked on that,” he told her. “...What's with that gaze? Stop worrying. I really worked on it.”
In reality, the plan he had was still vague, but it was important for him to show confidence at this moment.
“However,” Seiya continued, “I have already placed an ad for part-time workers, and I have already gotten a few bites. The interview will start next week, so be prepared for it!” he stated firmly.
“Do you really think we'll get a decent suitor?” Isuzu whispering. It was a serious question with no sarcasm at all behind it.
“I don't know if we will get it or not,” he said firmly, “but we still have to try.”
“Well, it looks like it..”
That's when the head of PR, Tricen, spoke up. “Kanie-san is quite right, Isuzu-san. We might be flooded with talented people! Like a beautiful woman, or a beautiful woman, or even a beautiful woman! The park will be like the PC gaming world, and the male cast will definitely bow in appreciation.”
“Stop that,” said Seiya with a growl. “And don't put all the PC games together. As a Western game player, it offends me.”
“Oh, jeez! Are you one of them, Kanie-san.?” Tricen excited. “I assume you're the stealthy type. Acting as if very dedicated, go to Akiba only for Trader Chaos or PC parts store... then secretly buy 18+ games from Amazon.”
“Unfortunately, I think I know the type of person you are talking about..” Seiya muttered. “But I'm still in High School. I don't play things 18+.”
“I'm sorry,” Tricen apologized. “...But my point is that we might even get suitors who could threaten Isuzu-san's position as Kanie-san's beautiful secretary.”
“Konyol. Hey, Sento. Say something to her,” Seiya looked at Isuzu with annoyance.
He lowered his gaze, thought for a moment, and then said: “...Well, if that person is more capable than me, then I will gladly give up my current position.” His response immediately dropped the atmosphere in the conference room.
No one knew what to say for such a serious reply.
Seiya thought about resuscitating him, but he decided to just give up. Sento Isuzu was this type of person: he could not parse humor. He cannot accept a bad situation, or give as well as he gets.
He hears that he is a member of the royal bodyguard Maple Land, the magical kingdom that built AmaBuri. He didn't know much about what it was like there, but he did get the impression that he was some kind of highly trained elite soldier. But, despite taking that into account, there were some things about his behavior that remained incomprehensible…
“Yes, however,” he said quickly, “Come onward to the next subject...”
After all, AmaBuri faced a mountain of problems. The next topic of Seiya is their very important (but also very boring) budget issue.
There was nothing strange about Isuzu's behavior for the rest of the meeting.
