After closing that day, an announcement via business channel sounded, “The original role, gathered at the rooftop garden.” ‘The original role’ refers to the inhabitants of Maple Land (and other magic lands) working in the human world. Moffle is one of them, along with Macaron, Tiramii, and Sento Isuzu. Employees from the human world are simply called ‘pemeran.’
So the time has finally come, Moffle thought as she tidied up her attractions.
Latifah and Isuzu have an important announcement for the original cast? That must be bad news.
On his way to Maple Castle, he meets Macaron, a sheep-like feathered mascot, who is Moffle's longest-serving acquaintance in the park.
“Halo there, ‘Candy Berries.’” by Macaron.
“Close your mouth. You are the ‘Music Series,’ fumo,” Moffle reply.
That's the sad thing you're still doing at this age, that's what both seem to say.
Although she may be a ‘Candy Princess,’ Moffle doesn't really have a fondness for sweet things. If forced, he would say he likes salami and such at the point where he was told it wasn't sweets, it was a snack for drinks.
Macaron calls himself ‘Music Series,’ but he's not interested in children's songs. His favorite genres are funk and rap— especially American gangsta rap, with graphic descriptions of violence and ****. “I popped a 9mm plug on a rival gang leader with Glock 19ku,” or “Let me tell you about this sexy woman with big breasts,” and such.
“You were quite drunk last night. Everything okay, ron?”
“Almost no. Everything becomes empty after the second bar, fumo..”.
Last night, she, Macaron, and their only partner—sang ‘Flower Fair,’ Tiramii— became very drunk at the party after work. They start the night with a chat, but the subject soon turns into the future of the park, and then the atmosphere turns gloomy.
Moffle fainted shortly after, only to wake up in the morning in his home kitchen. For some reason, he lay on his back on the floor, covered in cold spaghetti. Fighting headaches and nausea, he cleaned himself up and was about to go to work when he found the carbonara sauce wrapper ready to go empty in his mailbox. Where's the sauce going? He wonders. Into my own stomach, he realized. It's been a long time since he's been so drunk.
“Moffle, you don't talk about anything other than Latifah, ron.”
“Really, fumo?”
“Part of the curse, but after that something about her kissing the child chosen by her prophecy.
“Moffu,” he says dirty word. “Really?”
“Ya.” says Macaron sympathizer.
“Yah.. I'm sorry for causing you so much trouble. I hope you forget what I said, fumo..”.
Macaron patted Moffle's back lightly. “Moffle. We don't mind you getting drunk, because you never talk bad about people.
When you're drunk, you just talk good about everything.”
“Really, fumo?”
“You even said the boy had courage, ron.”
“I doubt it. I will never praise that little coward, fumo.”
“Well, whatever, ron.” His wool quivered with a loud laugh, Macaron took the elevator to the roof garden, and Moffle followed him. Five or six of the original cast members ran to board it, and immediately, the elevator was full.
“Um... Moffle-san..” a girl with butterfly wings on her back called out to him doubtfully.
This girl, who was wearing a very revealing dress, was a fairy, Muse. He performed a musical performance at the Witch's Hill, the same area as Moffle's workplace. He was a hard worker, even though he was young.
“Yes, fumo?”
“They usually don't call us all like this. Do you think... This is bad news?”
The elevator went quiet. Everyone looked at Moffle's expression intently. Moffle was a veteran, associated with Latifah, and related to the Maple Land royal family. The reply will determine the mood of the other original cast members.
He looked at Macaron, but his friend—who at once seemed to intuit this, but also did not want to be disturbed because—just nodded as if to say, “Terupon to you.”
“...I haven't heard anything, fumo.” Moffle finally said.
“B-really? But..”
“Well, that might just be your expectation, fumo.” Those were his last words on the topic. When the elevator reaches the top floor, the people who ride it fill the roof garden.
As soon as the restless-looking Muse and the others had already walked far enough, Macaron whispered to Moffle, “Moffle. You can handle that even better, ron.”
“I don't want to hear it from you, fumo. You shouldn't have given everything to me.”
“I know. You can't be arrogant, ron.”
“Simplying conditions will not change the future of the park, fumo.”
“Maybe not, but..”
The two continued towards the roof garden.
The roof garden of Maple Castle is still as beautiful as ever. Most of the original cast had already gathered by now, and nervous whispers could be heard there and here. Not everyone is born in a fairytale Maple Land. Some come here as transfers from other magical realms.
Moffle and Macaron guard a corner of the park and await the start of the conference. Tiramii, the depraved mascot of Pomerania, arrived soon after, then sat down next to them. He said, “Hey, nice to see you guys, mii. You think tonight is the night we give up, mii?”
“Maybe. Well, 30 years isn't a bad trip for a failed amusement park, ron.”
“Not 30 years. Only 29 years old, fumo.” Moffle said in a tense voice.
This park, founded on the abundant wealth of the economic bubble of the 80s, will be thirty years old next year. Now, that's not gonna happen.
“Consideration! Caution!” A feminine voice echoed throughout the garden.
Sento Isuzu, dressed in garden uniforms, shouted at them from the veranda one floor above. He looked down at the cast in the park like an actor on stage.
“Paution, the cast of the great Amagi Brilliant Park! The First Princess of Maple Land, the descendant of the founder of our land, Slim, Priestess of Revelation, and our esteemed manager, Latifah Fleuranza, will speak! You guys will give him your full attention!” His voice was piercing, but also majestic. Had the audience been members of the Maple Land military, they might have cleaned their uniforms and stood up straight.
But the original cast around Moffle were not impressed.
(She thinks she's very sexy.).
(Is now really the time for grandeur and social status?)
(He'll just announce that we're closing.).
There were mixed reactions: some whispering, some nagging, and some shamelessly speaking. The burden of their hatred was directed at Sento Isuzu.
Of course, there's a reason.
Sento Isuzu was sent here a year ago by the king to serve Latifah as an advisor and guardian, and, but the fact that they are in this situation makes it clear that he is not doing a single good thing. ‘The elite member of the royal guard’ is a great title, but in the end he is a soldier, and nothing more. There was no way someone with a background like her could understand the business of running an amusement park, or the ins and outs of the entertainment industry.
It's not that Isuzu didn't try. But with his ruthless way of commanding everyone, it didn't take long for him to lose the support of the cast. He interacted with the guests while standing tall, threatening the lazy cast with his rifle, and making no excuses for the investors. He was an excellent officer, obviously, but that trait did not make the park work.
Everyone has advantages and disadvantages. Isuzu was no match for this kind of work, but in a job where commanding was harshly needed, he seemed very at home.
“In the name of all roh—Your Majesty! We are waiting for your words!” Sento Isuzu's official attitude was nothing like his usual indifference.
Of course, that's the army, Moffle thought, as the former soldier himself.
Latifah appeared from behind the veranda. His body was very weak, painful to look at. Her pretty dress and closed eyes—
Moffle suddenly felt like he wanted to replace her, to explain the situation to this crowd alone.
Latifah borrowed Isuzu's hand at first, then placed her fingertips on the veranda fence. Then, after successfully restraining himself with his strength, he spoke.
“Thank you for coming, everyone,” Latifah said in a cheerful tone.
They all know what's coming. He was just trying to tell them in his own way, with a smile, so as not to hurt feelings.
“I'm afraid the news I'm about to give is sad news. Two weeks from now, Amagi Brilliant Park will be torn down.”.
Their reaction was to sigh simultaneously from every corner of the garden.
“The reason is because we failed to reach the guest attendance quota this year. Our contract states that if we fail to reach this quota for five consecutive years, we must hand over the park administration, and hand over control of the facilities and land to the property management company, Developer Amagi.”
A painful silence hung in the garden. Everyone knows the story.
“The time limit is right in front of us. I've already determined, with the current condition of the park, and with two weeks left, it will be impossible to reach the number of arrivals we need. Therefore... everything...” Latifah hesitated for a moment. “...We have to say goodbye at once. I have to do what I can to find a job for you from April. I know it's gonna be hard, but..”
“Difficult? Hard, pii?!” a member of the original cast shouted from the crowd. All eyes were on the person protesting.
It came from a lizard-like mascot named Wanipii. He was a character working in the Wild Valley, the area next to the Witch's Hill. It is not ‘easily hugged’ like Moffle and his friends; it is sunken face, and a large mouth with a dangled tongue. His appearance was hilarious, arguably too ugly to the point that it was cute, and he was especially popular among foreign park visitors.
“Latifah-sama! Don't you know how hard it will be for me, pii?! I have almost no name! There is no way I will be famous anywhere else, pii!”
“You don't know for sure,” reply in earnest. “If you want to apply to—”
“Diving myself won't work, pii!” Wanipii's voice approached the sound of screams. “I'll be stuck sharing a tissue at a station somewhere, pii! People will forget me, I will run out of animus.and then I will disappear, pii! That's monos, pii!”
A commotion occurred among the cast. It seemed that the others shared the same fear as Wanipii. Mascots who lost popularity in the human world could not return to the magical realm; they simply disappeared. This is a phenomenon they call monos.
“Not me, pii! We're all going to disappear! What are we gonna do, pii? One day, I thought I would be able to go home and enjoy my retirement, and now.. Now it's over.. It's all over, pii!”.
“Close your mouth, Wanipii.” Moffle says spicy.
“Moffle! But—”
“How many years have you been here, fumo?”
“D-Twelve years, pii..”.
“Then you have a chance, fumo. Too ugly to the point that it's funny won't be popular forever, but have you ever tried to improve your artwork? No, you're lazy, and let the park take you instead of acquiring regulars when you can. Don't be upset about it now, fumo.”
“But, but..!”
“Now, relax, fumo. I'll share a tissue with you. We've been together a few times on stage, haven't we? If we can regain that passion, we will get a little fame among the surrounding children, and that is more than enough to last He shook Wanipii's shoulder slowly.
But Wanipii, his eyes fixed downward, spewing out his reply: “...You can talk like that because you are the main mascot, pii.”
“What's with it?” Moffle.
“You can talk that way because you're Moffle, pii! Because you're part of the top cast! You can easily get a job at another amusement park, pii!”
“Stop that right now, Wanipii. I—”
“Everyone knows that! You're friends with Mackey, the great star Urayasu Digimaland! You're good friends, pii! He'll give you a job if you want, pii!”
Mackey is a special mascot who works at Digimaland. There is no one in the world who does not know his name. In human terms, he is an Oscar-winning Hollywood actor.
“Sign up stop, fumo!” Holding back some other things he wanted to say, Moffle pulled Wanipii's collar. Wanipii let out a choking sound. “You listen to me. He and I are not friends. We're old acquaintances, that's all. There's no way I'm gonna ask her for help, fumo. Next time you insult me like that. I'll pluck your scales one by one! You're gonna wish you'd never been raised in the human world, fumo!”
“I've been expecting it since a long time ago.. ow! Hey, that hurts, pii! I-i'm sorry! I'm sorry, pii!”
“Two of you, stop, ron!”
With Moffle threatening, and Wanipii crying while shouting, Macaron separated the two from each other.
“Latifah-sama over there, ron! He is the one who suffers the most here! You know that, ron!”
Those words brought Moffle to his senses. Latifah stood speechless on the porch, her face facing down without saying anything.
Indeed, he would naturally be the most injured if he watched the cast members fight each other. Moffle already knew that, however, he allowed his anger to overwhelm him in front of a large crowd.
“...I'm sorry, fumo.”
“It's okay..” Latifah gave him a sad smile, then signaled Isuzu to lower his rifle. He probably already planned to shoot Moffle and Wanipii with his magic bullet before anything happened.
“But there is one thing that I do not understand, mii..” said Tiramii who had been silent. “Why did you decide to tell us this today?”
Latifah's shoulders stiffened hearing Tiramii's question. “Ah, you know..the candidate I saw in my prophecy officially refused to help us.”.
“Kandidat... you mean, to be a manager?”
“Yes. We pleaded with him as earnestly as we could, but..”.
“It was my fault,” Isuzu interrupted. “I'm sure you can imagine how it goes. He was an ordinary man, and I acted like a member of the royal guard around him. I'm sorry.”
The cast members fell silent to this apology.
“I thought, I was too pushy,” he continued. “He became very angry with my attitude, and he went.”
Confession soon appears in everyone, including Moffle. They knew what kind of person Isuzu was. But even if he is chosen by prophecy, the man is still a human being. Of course he won't go to great lengths to save an old, ruined amusement park.
“We don't know if all will succeed under his leadership or not, but the man in the prophecy is our last hope. Now that he has rejected us, our choice is over. That's my decision, and that's why we gathered you here.” Isuzu hung his head, and let out a small sigh. “That's why everything became like this. Everyone... I'm sorry.”
It was not usual to see Isuzu acting so humble. But at the same time, the mascots thought, Asking for help in humans will not solve the problem when it is this severe. Rumors had already spread about what sort of man the prophecy had chosen.
He was just an ordinary High School student. He did not have a business education in particular; he did not even get a position as a manager where he worked part-time.
“I realize how heavy all this is for you..” Latifah conjunct for Isuzu. “But as long as we live in the human world, we cannot shy away from financial affairs. I'm really sorry, everybody. I wish I could apologize more.”.
This time, no one raised any objections, an atmosphere of heavy silence hanging over the park shrouded in the night. Everyone just stood in place, limp, trying to accept the sad truth before them. Some set their sights on the ground, some to the sky; some held back tears…
“Everything, I'm sorry.” Latifah repeats. “I'm really sorry.”
And that's what he is. No matter how they lamented it, no matter how they cursed it, the fate of the garden would not change. They seem to have come to that conclusion, and will just disband—
When suddenly, a new voice of a man spoke. “Too early to apologize, don't you think?”
The one speaking was Kanie Seiya, standing at the entrance to the garden.
...----------------...
What could you possibly have accomplished? he kept saying to himself. It's insanity. Stop acting stupid, and go straight home.
But in spite of it all, he finally made it to the park, where he stood behind a tree, listening to everything Latifah, Isuzu, and the large crowd of cast members said. He could have gone and forgotten that he had heard it all. No one knew he was there anyway.
However, Seiya appeared. He appeared in front of all the broken hearts. Even knowing that it likely produced nothing but taking the girl's tremendous weight for herself, he stepped out to appear.
He had no reason, except for one, for which he could not bear to see the girl standing in front of the crowd, holding back tears, any longer. That's the only reason.
It's not like you at all, stupid, he thought to himself.
Even so, Seiya raised his voice. “You are all pathetic! Before you go complaining and regretting yourself, at least do everything you can first!” It was clear that what he said sparked outrage.
There were different types of people there: some were covered in thick fur, some were scaly; some were winged, and some had fearsome fangs. Some even look completely human, aside from the flashy costumes they wear. And they all stared fixedly at Seiya.
“Kanie-kun?” Isuzu looked down at himself from the veranda, his eyes wide open.
Latifah, stand in silence, issue ****** small. The expression on his face showed gentle relief.
“Who is that? What do ordinary humans do here, mii?” ask a mascot like Pomerania—Flower Berries, Tiramii.
“What was he chosen by the prophecy? He's gone, right? What's going on here, ron?” ask a lamb-like mascot—Music Series, Macaron.
Seiya had read through the pamphlet, so more or less he already knew the names and appearances of the mascots working in the park.
These cast members really came from the magical realm, so he also more or less accepted that the mascots were not just people in costumes. Given all the amazing things he's been through the last few days, it seems a bit stupid to insist about “it's just a costume.”
When Isuzu says “ there is no one inside,” means exactly that; there really is no one inside these mascots. They were real fairies, from the magic land. Of course, the details about this incredible phenomenon are not important right now—ia is here now, so she has to do what she has to do.
As Seiya walked towards the veranda where Latifah and Isuzu were standing, someone blocked his path. She is the Sweet Fairy, Moffle, the mascot she fought before. His button eyes looked at Seiya with obvious suspicion. Somehow, it reminded him of a sheriff in western Hollywood.
“Alright, boy,” growled the mascot. “You better tell me what your purpose is here, fumo.”
So he can talk too? In the previous meeting, which he said was only ‘moffu’…
“Keep out of my way,” sue Seiya. “I want to talk to him.”
“He has nothing to talk to you about. Turn around and go home, fumo.”
“I can't do that. I've decided to help, so that's what I'm going to do.”
Moffle snorted, and narrowed his eyes threateningly. “We don't need help from a human, fumo. Our problem let us solve.”
“And how brilliant is your solution.” Seiya replied sarcastically.
“What did you say?”
Seiya stared intently at the crowd gathered in the park. “Look at yourself, stand there, desperate! You can't attract customers, you can't make money, and your workplace is being snatched away. Yeah, you guys have done a brilliant job of solving this problem yourself, right? And now you consider yourself incompetent?! That you guys don't need my help?! …You know, that guy from the Amagi Developer's place said something funny to me today. You guys wanna hear it?” He's cleared his throat. “‘Anyone who comes to this park is a fool!’”
The air around the cast stiffened in an instant.
“Because they can do anything, yet they come to this ugly, boring, useless amusement park! They spent their hard earned money for this miserable time! Oh my goodness, that's a strong argument! I don't think he's wrong at all!”
He could feel a silent rage filling the silent but powerful garden—amarah.
“And what are you doing about it? There ain't! You guys just stand there, throw a pathetic party! Everything makes sense now! They really are like fools, to give money to people like you!”
“Why, you..” Moffle's voice vibrates. “You shut up, man. What do you know about this park, fumo?!”
“Everything!” Seiya. “I spent the whole day walking here, and it's clear to me that all of you are incompetent losers!”
“Basic bastards! I'll shut up—”
Moffle grabs her, but Latifah stops her with a piercing cry. “Enough.”
The round and soft animal's hands came to a halt in the middle of the attack. “Moffu..”.
“Moffle-san,” she lectured him, “it was I who invited Kanie Seiya-sama here. He has been chosen to save my garden, despite the assault that Isuzu-san gave him. Do you want to embarrass us all more?”
“I... well..” Reluctantly, Moffle gave way. “Alright, fumo. …Then proceed, man.”
Although stunned for a moment by Latifah's steel willpower, Seiya passed through Moffle and headed for the stairs leading to the veranda. He could hear Macaron behind him, reprimanding Moffle in a whisper, “You always eat a lot at the sidewalk. What happened to the ‘man’ aarrogance earlier, ron?”
With a frown, Moffle replied, “Shut up, fumo.”
“Kanie-sama, I'm sorry on behalf of everyone here. Please forgive us,” Latifah told Seiya as she reached the homepage.
“Oh, well..” the sound is shrinking, not sure what to say.
“I... I'm sure you'll come.” There was a little warmth in her beautiful voice.
“Ah, um... Well..” Seiya moved her mouth in vain, suddenly at a loss for words. Although he could usually keep his arrogant aura, he always seemed to lose his composure whenever he was nearby.
“Kanie-kun's chat. Can we assume you changed your mind?” Isuzu asked.
“Yah... I..” he started, then strengthened himself again. Nope, no. I came here to fight. If I were to worry now, everything would be in vain…
“It seems I haven't introduced myself yet. I'm Kanie Seiya!” he announced to the crowd gathered around the veranda. He cupped his hands to his ears, playing as if he were listening to them.
“Hmmm... I think I can hear what's on your mind,” the taunt. “First I heard... yes, you all hate me!”
He has not used his ‘mighty’ yet. It was already very clear, considering how most of the cast was looking at him at the moment.
“Ah, but there is more to hate. I got a few other things.. ‘This brash boy.’ ‘He thinks who he is?’ ‘Do we have to hand over the park in his hands?’ ‘What changes can he make in just two weeks?’ …I believe it's all. No, wait, there's one more thing; I heard a little bit of our ‘Idola Latifah-sama chose this guy? Argh, I can't stand it!’” Seiya smiled defiantly towards them.
No one laughed.
“Don't like, huh?” he mocks. “Are you angry? …Good, because I'm not here to ask you anything politely. I'm here to set you guys up with an iron fist!” He slammed his fist into the porch. “Starting this second, you will do exactly as I say! One word of rebuttal, and you guys get out! If this ugly garden is going to be closed anyway, then I am free to treat you rudely with the rest of our time! But. I can also tell you one thing. In two weeks, this brat you hate so much will make a miracle happen! That's right, I'll bring 100,000 people to this park!”
A brief silence hung in the garden, and then there was a commotion. Most sound like scolding, criticism, and insults, but there seem to be some, who, shocked by his bluff, begin to show doubtful interest.
Okay, comeon. Any one of you. Tell me, quick! Words I wanted to hear a long time ago, ya—
“Em... what makes you sure you can do it?”
That's her!
The one who asked the question Seiya was already waiting to hear was a girl in a strange fairy tale dress. Seiya plays back his memories, and remembers that he is the Water Fairy, Muse, who is part of the musical show.
“That forecast, my secret plan, and my unwavering confidence,” he told her. “Why, I can bring you 500,000 people if need be! We will be busy, after all, so be prepared to work really hard!”
The commotion became bigger. The voices still seem to criticize Seiya more than the other way around, but a few words sounded prominent between those conversations: “Ramalannya...” “Maybe..” “What do you think.”
He got what he needed, for now. The rest is not important.
“I will circulate the terperici instructions later,” he ends. “For now, report tomorrow for your regular shifts, and you'd better be on time! Understand?”
He glanced at Isuzu.
He was already looking at her, dumbfounded, but regained his senses to shout, “Dissolve!”
As soon as the cast left, Seiya, Isuzu, and Latifah were left alone in the park. Moffle has left immediately with the other mascots—the implicit point is that he has nothing more to say to Seiya.
“What will we do with Moffle?” Isuzu whispering.
“What rat is always like that?” Seiya asked him.
“No. Usually, it is the ones that keep the cast on track, somewhat like a senior officer in the human military. He is also famous.” he added.
“Once,” Seiya frowned. “So our hard-hearted sergeant coach, is that right?”
“That's why I wanted to introduce you Sunday.” Isuzu explained.
Looks like he has to solve Moffle's problem right away if he wants everything resolved here. He is a type ‘leader in place’ who has real power in this kind of organization—head nurse in hospital, foreman in construction site, shift manager in restaurant…
“Uncle.. em, Moffle-san is a haughty man,” Latifah said weakly. “Despite my predictions, he may still feel asking for help on humans is wrong.”
“Yes, I can understand,” Seiya sympathizes. “After all he has just been insulted by an outsider.”
“It's almost like you're aware that you're doing it..” There seems to be an extra layer of intent in Isuzu's words.
Latifah also seemed to realize something, and spoke again, doubtfully.
“Ah... Kanie-sama, the things you said are quite difficult for us to accept. Could it..”
“Ya,” he confessed, “that show. I'm trying to make them mad.”
“You... tried?” Latifah sounded confused.
Seiya scratched the back of his head, feeling a little awkward. “I told them that their visitors were fools to meguji them. If those words get a lethargic response, maybe this will be a waste; they will really be losers, and I will walk right out, then. …But they don't. They become very angry.”
“...Which means..?” Latifah.
“That means I can work with them.”
“Ahh..”.
“There are many industries that are concerned with giving people happiness, right? Singing, acting, writing, drawing comics, cooking.Expert in that field can stand being booed—yah, some don't, some don't, but the ones that last the longest are the ones that can—but there is one kind of insult that they simply cannot bear,” Seiya explained. “Do you know what it is?”
“About... Their customers?” guess it.
“Fast. They can handle criticism about their flaws, but if you insult people who like their performance, it triggers anger. They're angry as if you've insulted their family or friends. It was a strange psychological trick.”
“……”
“However, if they are angry because I mocked their visitors, it means they are still serious about their work. And that means there may still be hope.”
“So... Really educate.” said Latifah, with a smile on her voice.
Did he really understand the situation? Seiya wondered.
“Then will you help us?” Isuzu asked cautiously.
Reality about ‘A theme park run by the mascots of the magical realm is in financial trouble’ and ‘I, an ordinary High School student, will be their manager’ has not been fully trusted, yet, but— Well, after showing such hubris in front of the meeting of these monsters, he could not say “No, I came out” at this point.
“I'll take his job,” he finally speaks. “But only for two weeks.”
“Two weeks?”
“I'm still a High School student,” she explained. “I should focus on my learning.”
Video game too. I don't want to lose my precious game time for this stupid job. The final exam is near, followed by spring break, and what kind of fool spends the spring break working? I want to play games from morning to night.
“Learn you, hmm?”
Seiya brushed off Isuzu's suspicious gaze, then continued, “You only need to pass through obstacles in the near future, right? The fate of the park will be determined in two weeks. So whatever the outcome, my job ended then. Agreed?”
“...Yes,” Latifah smile. “Fixed, I thank you deeply.”
“...Don't thank me first.” Seiya let out a long sigh, then sat down on a nearby park chair. For some reason, he felt very tired at this moment.
He thought for a moment whether he should express his thoughts to Latifah and Isuzu or not. And in the end, he said. “I think I should be honest with you. …I am an excellent student. I'm brilliant. I'm also very handsome and have a lot of talent.”
“Are you starting to boast of yourself for no reason?” isuzu's forehead shrunk.
“Silence and listen. …So between your prophecy and the strange power you gave me, there is a certain destiny that pervades my existence.
It might seem like a person with talent like me could make a miracle happen, but—and I'm sorry to say this—getting 100,000 people in two weeks is impossible.”
Seiya could already do a rough estimation of their arrival yesterday based on what he had already seen; it might be between 2,500 and 3,500. It was on Sunday, so it was probably the highest they could have expected at these times, in early March. In that case, on weekdays, it would be a fraction of that.
Assume an average of 1,500 visitors per day, if totaled 21,000 in two weeks. They had a target of 100,000, but they were on schedule and got around 20,000 and came back. No wonder the cast was so desperate.
“So?” Isuzu asked.
“I'll do everything I can,” he tells them, “but this probably won't change the result. I just want you guys to get ready for that.”
“Then what you told them before..”.
“It was a lie, of course. I don't have any secret plans.” A self-blame smile appeared on Seiya's face.
“……”
“I have to say that to them,” he admits, “because I need them to hope if I want them to exert all their effort.”
Isuzu turned his gaze to the floor sadly. But Latifah stared into the distance, still smiling. “So... But Kanie-sama, I still still believe you will make a miracle happen.”
Seiya. He clearly had full ownership of his senses, so... Did he somehow not understand about his own circumstances?
“Oh?” he asked curiously. “What is that your prophecy telling you?”
“No,” Latifah told him. “My forecast just tells me the path I have to take. No one knows what will happen next.”
“Then how can you be so sure?” Seiya wanted to know.
“It's just my feeling. When you came here before.. I thought, ‘ini is the man who will make miracles happen.’”.
Absolutely bullshit, she sibir in heart. I am not a fool who expects a miracle. Disgusted by Latifah's words, Seiya wants to say it. But he can't. Why he didn't do it. He didn't even know for sure.
