Chapter 147
The library space has always been Alva's favorite place to spend time on campus. As of this moment, the young man was examining the data of the girls that Leonard had sealed. The last few days he's been thinking about his mother Alfie. He suspected that the woman was one of the captive victims and managed to escape.
"Honey~," call Safira when no one is near them. The girl called out to Alva gently and quietly.
Safira's face was already red with embarrassment as the young man's eyes looked back at her. A smile on the dikulum was seen adorning the face of Doctor Rama's daughter.
"Don't forget the promise you made to me!" safira reminded Alva.
A faint smile was flashed by Alva and it made Safira's heart tick. Strange indeed the girl, even though since childhood has said she likes the same man who became the idol of her heart, still often misbehavior if close to him. Especially when it's just the two of you and it feels romantic.
"Yes!" Safira clenched her hands while smiling widely.
The sound of shaking Safira's phone made the two young people turn their attention to the flat object on the table. The name "Mama" is on the screen.
"Yes, Ma. What's up?" ask Safira.
"Mama will return to Indonesia the day after tomorrow. What do you want your mama to bring?" ask the guy over there.
Alva was still watching Sapphira who was still talking to her mother. He had met several times with the woman who had given birth to the girl. His relationship with the two of them had been at odds with him since long ago.
"Didn't want anything, with the arrival of mama here safely has also made me happy," replied Safira who now looked at Alva.
The girl seeks the power of her lover. Safira often had a dispute with her mother if she had forced her to come to America. Especially if Shinta humiliated the Goddess, it made her furious. (Forgotting her mother's name Safira).
Alva let the girl hold the end of her sleeve, instead of clasping her hand. The young man always reminded Sapphira not to forget himself and do things forbidden by Allah.
"I hope you can spend a lot of time with your mom, later," Shinta said in a slightly pushy tone.
Alva Changean rubbed Safira's head slowly. He tried to calm his emotions.
"Yes. But, Fira did not promise because now there are many tasks on campus," Safira replied.
"OK, Honey. Mama close first, yeah!" It sounds clear when the volume of sound is turned off.
Safira let out a rough breath. Then, he placed his head on the table while staring at Alva.
"Here you are, don't be angry or upset. Your mama is not here yet" Alva said with a faint smile so that the girl would not get angry.
"I want to get married soon. There does not need to be a fancy party, which is important we are legitimate," Safira said with her eyes full of hope to Alva.
"You know for yourself that I want to give you a proper dowry. Because you are a special woman. A wedding party that can make everyone happy, not only us who are brides who feel happiness" Alva replied.
"I'm afraid that what my mother said will happen" Safira said in a trembling voice.
Alva was eager to grab Safira's body into his arms. But at the moment he can't do that.
"Can't we be patient until we become doctors?" alva asked whispering.
The young man's gaze could not be separated from the girl who was still laying her head on the table. A sad face with teary eyes made his heart feel sad.
"can't. All this time I've been trying to hold on so I can stay by your side, Alva. I was afraid that my mother would force me to come to America and settle there" Safira replied in a squeaking voice.
Alva took her breath back. Just a few months ago he expressed the ability to propose Safira, now the reality reminds him that his mother Safira had warned him long ago that Safira would be betrothed to his friend's child.
Doctor Rama and Dewi often clash with Shinta, especially regarding Sapphira. Alva knew this very well because the girl would complain to him if her mother did it. It usually ends with Safira crying.
"Will it be only with us getting married, will it be solved?" ask Alva.
Sapphira did not answer or give any reaction. Because he also does not know, the problem is that the mother will do everything possible to get what she wants.
"At least with us getting married, you're more entitled to me. Legally you will win me over if you insist that you will take me" replied Safira, whose tears were flowing. Those drops of clear liquid fell onto the table before they were removed.
Alva gave Safira a handkerchief to dry her tears. He would most not like to see the girl grieve or get hurt.
"We graduated college a long time ago. About three to four years. Not to mention you want to become a specialist. The longer we're gonna get married. I'll ask you to keep paying for my college. So, it will not hamper our ideals" Safira said.
The girl had unconsciously disturbed Alva's ego. He felt humbled by Sapphira. He is not a man who will give up his responsibilities. If Sapphira is already his wife, then all his needs are his responsibility, including tuition.
Alva currently has her own income even though the tuition fees are still borne by her parents. Arga and Marsha tell Alva to use her own money to develop a business that she has pioneered since sitting on the bench of High School.
"You'd better talk about this to your father. Who knows if he can provide a solution to your problem" said Alva while closing the books he had read.
Safira who had known Alva for a long time, he felt that the young man was angry or upset with him. He recalled what he had said and what he had done that might have made his idol angry.
"Where are you going?" tanya Safira followed Alva standing up.
"I'm hungry and want to eat" replied Alva.
Leonard and Fery watch Safira and Alva from behind the library window. They were waiting for both of them to let their guard down.
