Chapter 38. Bereft

Yuan stared at the clear sky through the open window of the room. It still feels like a dream. Three months already Yuan is living a life without Andri.

A sense of emptiness now accompanied Yuan in living life. There was a knocking sound that awakened Yuan from his daydream. Yuan turned to the door, then moved from the sofa.

The woman's steps began to be heavy because it bore the other weight in her body. As soon as the door opened, Riana was already standing there with a distended stomach. He smiled broadly at Yuan.

"Lake in!" yuan.

Riana went straight into the room. He walked over to the sofa where Yuan was sitting. After that, Riana landed her buttocks on the sofa.

"Eat already? What do you want to eat? Want to go out together to find food or snacks?"

Yuan followed Riana and sat down beside the woman. Riana answered all the questions of her sister-in-law with just a head gurgle. He's been having a hard time eating since Andri's death.

Yuan didn't really lose his appetite. Just mild nausea vomiting. The baby in the womb seems to understand how the condition of the mother.

"Sir, I know Mbak Yuan is still sad over Mas Andri's departure. But, it should be that Mbak Yuan is more able to manage emotions. Poor the baby." Riana looked towards Yuan's stomach which started to bulge."

"It's hard, Ri. It feels so empty. The color of my world seems to be gone, just black and white like a monochrome photo."

"What the hell, you? Remember baby. She needs a happy mother to grow up well. Don't do it, dong. Poor ...."

"You know what!" yang Yuan suddenly.

Riana gawked for a moment. This was the first time Yuan spoke in such a high tone to him. Usually Yuan will only smile cynically, insinuate, or say ketus if he does not like his attitude.

This time Yuan changed like everyone else. Riana gave a rough breath. He got up from the chair, then stood in front of Yuan while looking intently at his brother-in-law.

"I understand Mrs Yuan is in a frenzy. But, remember .. there is a small baby that you must take care of lovingly. If you continue to lament Mas Andri's departure, will he come back? No, right?" Riana smiled as she folded her arms in front of her chest.

Yuan was silent for a moment because he was slapped with Riana's words. He did not reply to the words of his sister-in-law. Finding Yuan unresponsive, Riana finally gave up.

Riana turned right then walked towards the door. However, when he had only walked a few steps, he felt an excruciating pain in his stomach. Clear liquid suddenly poured out of his birth canal without being controlled.

"Riana! You why?" Yuan immediately got up from the sofa, and walked over to Riana.

"My amniotic fluid broke!" riana exclaimed while grimacing in pain.

"You wait here first! I'll call mom!"

Yuna rushed out of the room. He's looking for Drini's whereabouts. There was no man in the house.

Anton is reviewing a new hospital set to open in the capital. Rian was picketed at his father's hospital, while Mudi drove Sumi to the station to return home.

"Mom!" call Yuan after finding Drini making a phone call in Anton's study.

"What's wrong?" ask Drini with the phone still attached to the ear.

"Ri-Riana, Mom! The water has broken!" yang Yuan with a trembling voice.

"God! I asked Mr. RT to drive an ambulance!"

Drini immediately contacted the head of the RT complex where they live. After successfully contacting and asking for help, she rushed over to catch up with Riana who was still in Yuan's room.

Riana was immediately carried into the ambulance. Ambulance sirens were sounded to make it easier to divide the city streets. Inside the ambulance, Riana continued to moan in pain.

"Patience, yes, Ri. Your baby's coming out soon! Hold, huh? You're strong!" Drini encouraged the princess to fight pain for her son.

Yuan also grasped Riana's fingers. He occasionally rubbed Riana's back. Yuan hoped that what he did could alleviate a bit of the pain that Riana was experiencing.

After the car drove for 15 minutes, they finally reached the hospital. Riana was immediately taken to the delivery room. The doctor performed an examination and stated that the opening of the birth canal was still incomplete.

"We wait for a maximum of 48 hours. If the baby is not yet born, then we are forced to perform surgery" explained the doctor.

"You can take turns to go in to give him some encouragement. Excuse me." The doctor leaves Yuan and Drini holding hands.

"You just wait here, okay? Let me take Riana."

Yuan agreed. Drini rushed into the delivery room. Yuan chose to sit in front of the room.

Not long after, Rian ran up to him. The man looked sweaty. He immediately asked Riana's condition to Yuan.

"New opening four, Mas."

"Well, how did you go home? I'm inter. If you're watching Riana's birth, I'm afraid you're scared."

Rian was worried that it would happen. She was afraid that Yuan would be traumatized if she watched Riana give birth. That can of course have an impact on Yuan psychology and result in stress or trauma.

Yuan was silent for a moment. Actually she wants to accompany Riana to give birth. However, when he noticed what Rian said again, Yuan finally nodded.

Yuan thought, it's possible that right now he feels fine. However, she never knew if the subconscious was recording the moment of giving birth to Riana and considered it a scary thing. It will certainly have a bad impact on his mental who is also waiting for the presence of the baby.

"I'll let you in a minute with the others. I happen to have no patients to deal with."

"Yes" replied Yuan briefly.

Not long after, Rian had already taken off his white coat and was only wearing a dark blue short-sleeved shirt. Hair that was originally neatly arranged, is now deliberately ruffled irregularly. He smiled broadly as he approached Yuan.

"Come on! We'll stop by for a meal, okay? I'm hungry!" rian exclaimed as he rubbed the belly of his torn bread covered in a shirt.

Yuan simply nodded with a thin smile almost invisible. The two walked to the parking lot. Arriving there, Rian opened the door for Yuan.

After Yuan entered, Rian rushed in and started the engine. After the car engine started to heat up, Rian drove the car slowly out of the hospital area.

Throughout the journey they kept quiet. Yuan stared out the window with his chin up. Rian's favorite jazz music scene accompanies his second trip to one of Rian's subscription field food stalls.

"If you don't like to eat rice, say so. Later we find another place," said Rian glanced at Yuan.

Yuan was silent. He seemed to be busy counting the rows of buildings they passed. Jemari Yuan was now busy wiping the surface of his stomach.

Yuan suddenly shouted, making Andri stop the car suddenly. Suddenly the sound of the car horn was earthy because it was upset with Rian's actions. He lowered his car glass as he continued to nod in receiving every swearing that came out of the lips of other road users while forcing a smile.
