Black Ball

Black Ball
Chapters 1. Part 2

The sun was still shining, when Anifsa returned.

Five horse carriages emerged from behind the bottom of the cliff. Fortunately, that part could be used horse carriage roads.

Anifsa got off one of the horse-drawn carriages, and a grown man came down behind her. They walked towards us standing.

The adult man was named Benito, one of the important people in the adventurer guild. His thick mustache was a characteristic feature on his face.

Benito immediately bowed his head as he arrived at where we were standing.

“I am so sorry,” he said with a sad face, then realized someone's body was near us, he was seen holding back his tears. He closed his eyes tightly. “I remember vividly when I first got to know Zazki four years ago, when his village was destroyed and both his parents died. Together with his two younger siblings, he worked and trained very hard, until he finally became a gold-ranked adventurer. He's an unyielding young man.”

Benito breathed a long breath. His face that looked quite sinister, as well as his stern and extremely disciplined nature, made him currently look so sad. He was also someone who paid the most attention to the adventurers in his city.

"May I see it?"

I nodded slowly. Right now, Zazki's body has been separated by a large lizard and covered in the cloth that I always carry. So too with his face.

Benito removed the cloth cover over Zazki's face. He was silent for a moment, only sobs could be heard softly.

"I won't forget all your services, Zazki. After all you will always be a hero in Lorisa City."

As a gold-ranked adventurer, the highest ranked in the adventurer guild, Zazki was highly respected in Lorisa City, some of them calling him a hero. Other than being only a few gold-ranked adventurers - currently only the four of us gold-ranked adventurers in Lorisa-Zazki City have also been 4 years protecting Lorisa City.

While Nazdia and I had just come to Lorisa City a few months ago, upon hearing of the many powerful monsters appearing in this city. Since then we met Zazki and Anifsa, and then became the group that protected this city.

It could be said, starting today, the strength of Lorisa City decreased drastically.

Benito covered Zazki's face again, then stood up. “If you can know, about Zazki's two sisters...”

“We will take care of him,” I said quickly, after all I have promised Zazki.

This time Benito smiled faintly. “Zazki was very lucky to meet you guys.”

I nodded slowly.

“Alright, if so, can we take the scales of the big lizard now?” benito asked me, which I answered with a nod. “If you are pleased, can you take Zazki's body to one of the horse carriages, after this, we will commemorate his death. I'm sure the entire citizens of Lorisa will be very sad to hear it.”

“I understand.”

Benito nodded, then looked towards the horse carriage stopped. He clapped three times loudly.

Eight adult men descended from the horse-drawn carriage, and four horse-drawn carriages led to the lizard. They carried large knives that were commonly used to take usable parts from the monster's body.

They looked down as they passed us three.

One horse carriage was still standing at its original spot. I carefully lifted up Zazki's body and walked towards the carriage. Zazki's great sword was carried by Anifsa.

Nazdia and Anifsa were sitting right next to me. Both of Anifsa's eyes looked puffy, she chose to close her eyes, trying to fall asleep. Similarly, Nazdia, whether asleep or not, both of their heads leaned against each other.

I looked up at the sky again.

I was actually in another world, a world where monsters roamed, killed or ate humans.

In this world, the strong survive.

If I thought about how weak I was in the original world, maybe I wouldn't survive for a single day in this world. In fact, my real body is only strong push-ups five times, for the sixth time I was not able to.

It's sad, isn't it?

I saw a large sword belonging to Zazki that weighed over 10 kg. The sword had a red line on its center. Lifting up and swinging that heavy sword, completely unfathomable to me.

When compared to objects in my original world, it may be similar to carrying a 3 kg gas cylinder that weighs 8 kg. Carrying the tube too, my hand shook because it was too heavy.

Not only Zazki, Nazdia also carries a shield that weighs about 5 kg. A girl who is much stronger than me in the real world.

Fortunately, I have Rizkal's body and memories in this world. I shouldn't be embarrassed, though when I found out, Rizkal did 50 push ups and ran around the city when there was no mission that day.

50 times? Not likely.

Ten times what I can do, even though Rizkal is just a magic book user.

I sighed softly.

For the first time I thought about how I lived all this time.

Sleeping, eating, playing games and watching movies. It was a daily activity while I was at home.

During school break, I can even stay in my room for a whole week.

I never exercised my muscles, nor did my brain that I never used to think hard.

That was my life all along.

Thinking about it, my heart ached.

Given all the memories of Rizkal trying so hard just to survive, compared to me, what have I been doing all this time?

I'm too tired to live in comfort, aren't I?

Again, my tears were soaking my cheeks.
