Alarick scrunched his forehead. He repeated Ravella's statement to make sure his ears didn't hear wrong.
"Mother isn't Marco and Mirel's mother? Who are they, then?" alarick asked, getting curious.
"They're my nieces but since the baby have been my children" Ravella said briefly.
"So their aunt's mother? Did you ever get married or not?"
Ravella was so silent that Alarick got upset himself. He did not understand why Ravella was so stingy to speak when the woman had asked for her help. He should have the right to extract the information he needs in as much detail as possible.
It was still raining outside, though not as hard as before. Ravella looks agitated. She believes her children must be worried because she has not yet returned home. And just as Ravella had suspected, Marco called his phone.
"Mama, where? Why haven't you come home yet? It's a rain of lightning, Ma" asked Marco. His voice sounded dashed due to an unstable signal.
"Marco, Mama's still in the cafe. Mama can't go home yet because Om Alarick doesn't have a raincoat on his bike."
"Mama went with Om Alarick?" ask Marco full of questions.
"Yes, as usual for office work."
"Sister!" there was a cry of fear from Mirel.
Ravella was surprised and thought something bad happened to Mirel.
"Marco, what's wrong with your sister?"
"This, Ma, the power's suddenly off. Mirel scared. Mom's coming home soon."
"Quick call Mbak Sari to light a candle. Don't be afraid, Mama try to go home now" Ravella said, turning off the phone.
"Mirel why, Mom?" alarick asked to listen to their conversation.
"Electricity in my house is dead. They were scared and asked me to come home."
"Then we go home now. You can wear my jacket" Alarick said, offering a way out.
"Then what are you, Rick? You can get soaked without a jacket and raincoat.
"It's just a thin drizzle. At most I was just a little wet. For men this kind of thing is common."
Alarick walked first to the cashier to pay his bills. He borrowed an umbrella from the cafe waiter.
Carefully, Alarick shaded Ravella until they reached the parking lot.
"Mother was wearing my jacket" said Alarick, taking his jacket from the trunk of the motorcycle.
"Are you sure it's okay?"
"If Mom kept asking I would get wetter. Quick ride!" Alarick.
Ravella finally followed Alarick's will without asking any more. He was forced to hug Alarick along the way because the man was speeding the motor at high speed. Maybe Alarick wants to get to the destination quickly so as not to be hit by the rain.
...****************...
Ravella was relieved when they reached her fence. The situation in his house was pitch black, as well as the streets around him. It must be because of the power outage that occurred in the area.
Ravella got off the bike and felt her bag to pull out the key. At first, he thought Alarick was going to leave. But the man got off the bike and approached him.
"Rick, you're not going home right away?" asked Ravella trying to find the key to the house she kept.
"It would have been so. But I can't bear to see a woman alone in such a dark place. Moreover, he has trouble finding the key" said Alarick then turned on the flashlight from his phone.
Thanks to the lighting from Alarick, Ravella managed to find the key and open the fence of his house. Seeing Alarick always helping her, Ravella became unwell. He offers Alarick to stop by his house to lend him a raincoat.
"Rick, come in first. I'll lend you my raincoat."
"According to Mom's orders," Alarick followed Ravella's steps.
Ravella goes into her dark house first, while Alarick parks his bike in the yard.
"Marco, Mirel!" call Ravella and turn on the phone to light her way. Silence, no consent.
"Sari Maam!" call Ravella.
Still no answer. Ravella did not understand where everyone was so no one answered her call. In the living room there is also no candle installed at all.
Ravella was shocked as the fierce sound of thunder suddenly broke the silence. He closed his ears because the sound was so loud and followed by a very heavy rain. Not to lose his surprise, someone suddenly hit Ravella's back from behind. Reflexively, Ravella turned her head. His eyes were fixed directly with a pair of beautiful eyes that looked back at him in the dimness of the light.
"I'm sorry, Mom, I was forced to go in alone because outside the rain was more heavy. Can I wait here?" ask Alarick. Instead of answering, Ravella asked an absurd question.
"Where are your eyes?"
"In the bag. I took it off because it was wet. My mother did not answer my question. May I wait at Mother's house until the rain subsides?"
"Bo.leh, sit down. I'm going to Marco and Mirel's room."
Ravella hurriedly walked into Marco and Mirel's room. I don't know what's wrong with him. Every time he saw Alarick's blind eye, his heart would have been pounding. Maybe he needs to slap himself to be aware of his madness.
When he arrived at the room, Ravella was relieved to find Marco and Mirel had slept with two candles. While Mbak Sari is sleeping with the two twin boys.
"Bak Sari, wake up, Ma'am! I'm home" said Ravella, shaking the body of the housekeeper.
Mbak Sari wriggled and rubbed his eyes that were still sleepy. Looking at Ravella's face, he rushed up from the bed.
"Mom, when are you coming home? Sorry, I didn't hear Mom's arrival. I was told by Marco and Mirel to accompany them until Mom came. I even overslept."
"It's okay, Ma'am."
"Mom ate?"
"Already, Ma'am. Oh yeah, please make some warm tea for Alarick. He's in the living room waiting for the rain to stop. After that Sari can sleep."
"Good, Mom."
After Mbak Sari left, Ravella approached both of her children. He gently stroked their faces and then gave a kiss on the forehead. He did not want to be separated from his two angels. If necessary he will marry any man who is willing to be his paid husband in order to defend them.
Ravella stared at her children for a long time. Not wanting to wake Marco and Mirel, Ravella tidied up the blankets that wrapped their bodies and closed the door.
"Mom, I've made tea for Mr. Alarick."
"Thank you, Ma'am," Ravella said heading to the shelf where she kept the raincoat.
"Mom, the rain is more heavy when it is very late. Meningan Mommy allowed Mr. Alarick to stay here. Pity Mom that she's raining down the street. Besides, I saw Mr. Alarick's wet shirt and pants. Surely he is cold," said Mbak Sari gave advice.
"Let's think about it, Mommy."
"I'm sorry to go to the room, ma'am," said Mbak Sari.
Ravella took her raincoat as she stepped into the living room. He saw Alarick rubbing his palms together. The tea in the glass was drunk. It seems that what Mbak Sari said is indeed true. But should he take Alarick to his house while they have no ties?
"Mom, why are you there?" alarick asked, noticing Ravella standing in front of him.
"Here.I want to give you my raincoat" Ravella replied awkwardly.
"Thank you, Mom, but I can't go home yet. It rained like a storm."
"Hmmm, how about...you just stay at my house? You can sleep in my room, I'll sleep with Marco and Mirel" Ravella asked. He could not bear to let Alarick go home in such bad weather conditions.
Alarick's eyes immediately sparkled at Ravella's offer.
"Can I stay here?"
"Yes, just for tonight" press Ravella.
"How is it? But my shirt is wet, Mom, I need to take a shower and change. Do you have a man's shirt?" alarick Fishing.
"Some, I'll take it."
Ravella turned around to get her father's clothes. Although he died a long time ago, he still keeps some of the clothes in the closet for mementos. And he did not expect this time the shirt would be useful for Alarick.
While Alarick was disappointed to hear Ravella's answer. If the woman has a man's shirt, it must belong to her ex-husband or lover. Ravella has been married.
"Ravella, I'll test you again later by looking at the contents of your room. If it's proven that you haven't been touched by another man, maybe I'll consider your offer to become a contract husband,"
thought Alarick smiled faintly.
