Ch. 18 - Class Guardians

(Jui Ainsworth POV)

"It has been found again a disciple with a red star tattoo on his body. The student claimed to be able to turn into a giant if he took off his glasses. Right now, the police have secured it."

I watched the news on the internet while sipping black coffee on my desk. That was the tenth case this month. Everything happened to the 3rd year Junior High School students.

"Well, the world's getting fucked up, yeah. Looks like the end of the world soon."

Unknowingly, Nagumo-sensei was already standing next to me, coming to watch the phenomenal news just now.

"What apocalypse, just a strange occurrence." I went back to getting my coffee.

"It's a strange phenomenon, Jui-sensei. There were already ten disciples who had suddenly gotten red star marks on his body, and all of them had strange powers. It can turn into a giant, it can make people fall in love, it can make people amnesiac, especially yes...."

"It can read minds, change genders, change personalities, so cats, remove signals, deprive oxygen, and a right hand that can move on its own." I continued the list called Nagumo-sensei.

"Well, great, you remember everything."

"Of course, I'm handsome."

"Not connecting."

Within a month, the country of Japan is being hit by a strange phenomenon. Students in the 3rd grade all over Japan suddenly got a red star tattoo on their body. The tattoo is not a mere decoration, but a sacred sign that becomes a marker that the student has got a curse.

I stared at the sky outside which was beginning to hold back, visible flashes of lightning striking in a distant place.

"It looks like it's still going to grow." I was suddenly worried.

"Yes, may there be no more dangerous force."

Before long, a woman walked into the teacher's room. He walked towards me in a bit of a hurry.

"Jui-sensei, the headmaster is calling you."

"Call me? Does he want to talk about a raise?"

"I don't know, but it seems like it's important."

"Oh, so. All right, thank you Erina-sensei. I'll be there soon."

I left the teacher's room and headed straight for the principal's place. I tidied my hair in the bathroom before continuing to walk into his room.

"Excuse me" I said after knocking on the door three times.

"Lake in."

After hearing the reply, without hesitation I immediately opened the door and took a sitting position right in front of him.

"Jui-sensei's...." The Headmaster looked at me while putting his chin on both hands.

"Yes?"

"Do you know the news about Junior High students getting red star tattoos?"

"Yes, of course. The whole of Japan is in an uproar right now. I certainly know."

The Headmaster nodded his head.

"How many students have this strange power?"

"Ten...?" I answered carefully.

"No, there are eleven."

"Eleventh? But, according to the latest news...."

"The boy has not been arrested by the police, and is not yet known to the public."

"How do you know?"

The Headmaster looked me in the eye deeply.

"She's my daughter."

"Eh? You mean, Sera-chan?"

The Headmaster nodded slowly.

"My daughter has dangerous powers. He can hypnotize others unintentionally."

"Huh? Meaning how?"

The Headmaster sighed.

"It's a really strange power. You might not believe it. Every time my daughter reads a book to the end, someone will come and give her something."

I'm nodding. "Then where is the danger?"

"One night my daughter read a horror novel in the car. After he read it through to the end, a strange incident happened."

"Our private driver suddenly stopped the car, and gave my daughter a cigarette butt."

"Then?"

"That's all."

I'm breaking the table.

"What is dangerous?!"

"Of course it's dangerous! Our driver who was running the car at high speed suddenly braked suddenly just to give my daughter a cigarette butt. Fortunately, the streets were quiet at the time. Otherwise, our history would have been over!"

"That's probably just a coincidence. Not necessarily your daughter has dangerous powers." I tried to respond logically.

I can begin to imagine what kind of dangerous power the Principal's daughter has.

Sera-chan's power might be to hypnotize someone by accident.

Every time Sera-chan finishes a book, one random person might get hypnotized and come to Sera-chan to give her something.

It is conceivable that Sera-chan was reading a book inside the plane, and the pilot suddenly left the wheel to give her an item.

"In hindsight, his strength turned out to be dangerous as well, huh."

"Of course!"

I'm nodding. After hearing the full story from the Headmaster, I began to be able to understand why his daughter's strength was quite dangerous.

"Then, what's your purpose in telling it all? If you want to hide your daughter from the police, I don't think you need my help."

The Headmaster smiled.

"I don't want my daughter to continue her schooling on the lawn. A smart girl like her should be attending school here. The Subarashii High School! The best high school in all of Japan!"

I was beginning to catch the direction of the conversation from him.

"The Chief of Police in charge of this case is a close friend of mine. I will persuade him to let those strange-powered students go to school here with my daughter."

"What?!" I jumped out of my seat. "But they are dangerous!"

"Yes, I know! That's why I appointed you to be their homeroom teacher as well as my daughter. As the best teacher at Subarashii High School, I'm sure you can do it, Jui-sensei!"

I swallowed spit.

"You don't understand, Mr. Principal. In addition to endangering me, they could also harm other disciples!"

"Jui-sense... Subarashii High School is the best school in Japan. And you're the best teacher in this school. That means you are the best teacher in all of Japan! Who else do you think is fit to be their homeroom teacher besides you?"

"But...."

"Anyways, don't let those dangerous students wreak havoc on the school. It's okay to damage the facility, just don't harm anyone."

"But...."

"I'll find you a future wife."

"Agreed!"

Unconsciously, I said agree. We shook hands as a sign of an agreement.

I haven't left the Principal's room. I was still sitting on the chair, and watching the new news appear.

"Imviewers, the owner of a new power has been discovered! This time it was a girl who could make others faint just by yawning! The police have managed to secure it."

I looked at the Headmaster, and spoke to him.

"That was the twelfth disciple."

"Yes, and it looks like it's going to keep growing."

A few weeks after the conversation in the room, a big news story aired on television.

"The police have been working with Subarashii High School. Nineteen students with strange powers will not go through school in the classroom, but will study together at Subarashii High School! The citizens need not worry. A super teacher named Jui-sensei will be a shield for the students. All guaranteed safe and in control!"

I half couldn't believe it when I saw this news. That bastard actually carried out his crazy plan.

I'll be their homeroom teacher.
