"Udah tired?" asked Gerald after they came out of the mall with a few paper bags.
While Hanna who had brought nothing, instead appeared late beside the man.
"Udah," Hanna replied with a big smile on her lips. The tiredness that the girl felt, was proportional to the magnitude of happiness in her.
The euphoria of happiness made the woman spontaneously hug Gerald's arm.
"Thank you much. I previously wanted to watch in the cinema, but in addition to the cost constraints, I was also embarrassed not to know how to mesen tickets. Thanks, I watched horror. Thanks also make .. excessive concern you to buy me that much, even though I am not necessarily perfect to wear all the good clothes. Thank you ... so much .. I have fulfilled my secret wish: free shopping without fear or worry about anything in the mall."
Gerald laughed at hearing that. "Why do you thank most?"
"Because you give so much today."
"Will you continue?"
Hanna shook her head against Gerald's arm. They continued their steps towards the parking lot.
"Udah is tired. This is azan asar too."
"No papa. Later can pray in the nearest place, kayak zuhur earlier."
"No. Thanks though. Very satisfied today." Hanna distanced herself, intending to continue holding their hands—a thing that was too often done today until Hanna felt addicted.
However, he was stunned to see the condition of Gerald's hand.
"Don't you take that all by yourself?"
Another meter away, Gerald stopped his steps because of the woman's speech.
"Seriously, do you doubt my muscles?"
Hanna sneered at Gerald's reply. He snorted amusedly, then gently struck the man's arm. While Gerald responded with a bright smile.
"Go in." Gerald gave directions, while he intended to go back to put the items in the trunk. "Except if you want to open the door like a princess. Wait for me there."
"So, no need." Hanna says ticklish. He opened the door for himself, but abandoned the intention.
Hanna left the door open, then moved to the steering wheel door, opened it respectfully, even smiling when Gerald came.
"Seriously?" gerald asked, amused by the woman's actions.
Sweet, until Gerald's stomach feels tingled.
Hanna nodded cheerfully. Then let Gerald in.
The man obeyed his wife's will. Hanna closed the door again, then moved to her seat.
The car began to run, just a few minutes quiet, until the sound of a sharp azan could be heard.
"Later, his heartfelt prayers at home." Hanna tells when she realizes that her husband is starting to wander around looking for a place.
"No papa. Prayers first deket here. I'm waiting" Gerald replied casually.
This, obviously made Hanna astonished.
"How come you can relax here? Not busy at work?" hanna asked, curious. "I just got into work you know, Gerald. What if I get fired?"
"I can still make a living on you."
"Not that problem, I ...."
"You're real stubborn, Hanna. You don't care about that money. That's dowry money. You want to marry with you. Don't think about that money. Okay, Hanna?"
Hanna immediately shrunk the courage. He moved his lips, causing Gerald to take away his anger at the girl. He smiled slightly, and carried one hand over Hanna's head.
"You ... don't come down?" hanna asked in a soft and careful voice.
Gerald was still holding the steering wheel of the car when he gave a small coil. He turned to Hanna, and gave further confirmation.
"No."
"Why?" Hanna immediately chimed in with the question. He was curious about one thing. "I want, you are diligent in praying every time we gather at his grandmother's house first. And when Grandma died, I heard your voice fit naji, eloquent and good. Why .... Now is not?" Hanna was worried about her question, so the more at the end of the sentence, she lowered her voice.
Gerald was silent, not answering. He had opened his mouth intending to say something—but the lips returned to a perfect meeting. Gerald's aura again felt cold, so Hanna immediately understood that this was a gesture as the man's refusal to answer.
Hanna got out of the car, ending up with a deep curiosity about her cousin's attitude.
...🥀...
Not long after, Hanna was back in the car. He closed the door, then put on his seatbelt and the car was run by Gerald.
"Now, home?" hanna asked carefully, afraid that her husband would still be as cold as before he left.
Gerald shook his head little, still looking indifferent. "Not yet." He added a word, to make it look more friendly.
"Where else are you going?" Hanna started to dare herself to ask. "Don't walk again. I'm tired, really."
"Yes .. yes." Gerald extended his hand to the top of Hanna's head. Gently push him there. "Seekly shopping at the supermarket later. There's a little leftover food in the kitchen."
Hanna nodded in understanding, agreeing with her husband's words.
"You haven't answered my question. How can you not go to work today?"
"Come in, I'm." Gerald replied casually. "Get a moment, but."
"Can you be free to go in and out of work? Didn't Om Fauzan get yelled at?"
"No. Can't be scolded, and I'm not allowed to upset me."
Hanna secretly sneered and envied this one man. When the girl resigned to all the tyranny of her father, Gerald was even free to skip work and fight his own parents. Hanna just .. regret Anton who always just act arbitrarily as much as the girl sacrificed for the father.
"What do you think, Han?" gerald asked, when he realized the sudden change in his wife's expression.
Hanna hurriedly shook her head. He forced a smile, to look fine.
"You're too vain to care for your parents you know, Gerald! If I had parents like Aunt Salina and Om Fauzan, I would feel lucky. They care about you, and I will do anything to make them happy. You always know what your parents don't like."
Gerald let out a snort with an amused expression, provoking Hanna's curiosity. The girl was waiting for an explanation from her cousin.
"They're the reason why I think I'm the same as them, Hanna."
"A—laasan? What reason?" Hanna just knows, Gerald always liked to behave as he pleased. So, it shouldn't be because of his parents, right?
"It's not time for this to be your business." Gerald told him, then turned his face away from Hanna. It was only a short while, but it was already a gesture for Hanna to no longer discuss the same topic.
The uncomfortable expression was clearly shown by Gerald, accompanied by several long breaths from the man.
Hanna understands that there is something wrong between Gerald and his parents. Either as serious as what, or for what length. Perhaps also, since Gerald suddenly changed when he was in his teens.
Hanna was still busy thinking, when a mobile phone ring sounded. He immediately turned to the source of the voice, at Gerald who had raised the call.
"Hello." Gerald said a brief hello. Seeming indifferent at first, but over time, the man's expression quickly turned to shock mixed with tension and fear.
"Gerald, why?" ask Hanna curiously. He held onto Gerald's arm to make the man's attention turn to him.
Slowly, Gerald began to turn to Hanna with a glaring look.
