“Why, Gerald?” ask Hanna curiously. He shook Gerald lightly when he found no answer from the man.
Gerald reduced the speed of his car to prevent them from unwanted things. There was nothing else the man said when turning off the call other than the greeting at the beginning of the phone.
“Why? Who's calling? You were scolded by Om Fauzan for not entering work, ‘kan?” guess Hanna, intending to joke around, but her husband's tense expression did not diminish either.
“Gladys.” Gerald mentioned a familiar name in Hanna's ear. “She's back in Indonesia.”
Clearly, that answer made Hanna's confusion even greater. The girl's forehead was even furrowed deeply at this moment, indicating the difficulty she found out the reason for Gerald's current strange demeanor.
“Gladys? Your sister, right? Why are you so surprised?” ask Hanna astonishment. “Ah .. are you guys marahan? Or what? You're afraid that Gladys can make your parents love him more than you?” Hanna gave a light guess and joked, but again, nothing made Gerald's expression change.
Hanna still had not found an answer to this matter. The girl was so confused. He had to rub Gerald's arm carefully to keep the man calm from straining.
For a few minutes, the two no longer spoke. Hanna understood that she had to give Gerald some time to think about what he was currently afraid of. Now, Hanna just needs to support her husband.
Until, Gerald began to sigh long. He showed that he was throwing something bad out of his mind. The speed of the car also slowly increased to the normal stage, not as slow as before.
“We don't need to come there.” Gerald told. “You don't need to see Gladys.”
“Loh? Why?” Hanna asked in astonishment. “I've rarely seen Gladys since Mom's death. I ... just have one good friend, just Gladys. I can't if I don't see Gladys, Gerald.”
“Ngak.” Gerald still refused in a firm voice, which made it harder for Hanna to hold back her curiosity. “We're home. You do not need to visit Mama.”
“Gerald ...” Hanna said in a soft voice, hoping that the man was pitying and telling him why.
“DIAM!”
Hanna immediately gasped in shock and retreated until she hit the car window due to the sound of Gerald rising. He held his breath for a moment, and exhaled it with a slight tremble.
Gerald seemed very frustrated, for whatever reason. He rubbed his own face very roughly, then squeezed the steering wheel until his neck veins protruded.
Hanna wonders. How bad is the relationship between the two brothers? It seems ... worse than Gerald and his parents' relationship.
It wasn't Hanna's family, but the girl who was pounding in fear over what was happening right now.
...🥀...
Hanna hopes that she will find the answer to the problems in her cousin's family with a call from Salina. However, let alone finding out, the girl was almost never even left to ask by her aunt.
“So you don't volunteer so be taught Gerald to go in business hours? You should have volunteered, let him be ashamed, keep living there. With you participate him, he will often make you more often leave work just for two-duaan.”
Salina's words made Hanna feel uncomfortable. However, he still paid his respects to his father-in-law. “Sorry, Aunt.”
“You can also tell him if he does something bad. He's easily fed up with being lectured. So, you should always recoki her life, so that she is more comfortable not comfortable with you.”
Hanna nodded softly, although she actually did not really want to obey the wishes of the in-laws.
“Keep, Hanna, don't forbid Gerald to come home here. Gladys plans to help make Gerald decetin with Kania. You still have to fight there, yes.”
“Iya, Aunt.”
“Still yes, Darling.” Salina said in a soft voice. “You can still work tomorrow. Rayhan may just protest tomorrow and you will still be left to work because he has no other backup.”
“Okay, Aunt.”
Phone connection is turned off. Hanna kept the phone away from the ears, and stared softly at the screen. He was considering what to do next, because only then did he feel happiness when he was with Gerald. Hanna now felt very heavy if she had to fulfill her in-laws request.
The phone suddenly changed hands. Before processing what happened, Hanna's thigh was already overstressed by a head with a face that smiled faintly at her.
“Gerald?” Hanna called out in a surprised voice. He found his phone in the man's hand. “Balikin!”
“Mama said what?” tanya Gerald was curious when he found his phone history showing the name ‘Tante Salina’.
“Tell you to meet Gladys. Why don't you meet him?”
“Lah?” Hanna was getting confused. “You're weird. Adek came from far away after so many years, you do not even want to meet. Why emang? I'm curious about gini, Gerald.”
“You don't need to know.” Gerald answered as before. He returns Hanna's phone, but the girl is put on the table.
Hanna was silent for a moment, remembering Salina's words. That Gerald was very dislikeful of lecturing, and Hanna's job was to do whatever the man disliked.
The girl let out a long breath, then began to try.
“Gerald, you can't believe it. You cut off the family relationship of his name, and it's a sin to know. You do not pray, do not pray, do not worship anything. At least yes, improve family relationships. Moreover, your family is also all well. I wonder if you do not appreciate them at all, whereas—“
Hanna was silent for a moment when Gerald smiled as he fixed his head on the girl's thigh.
This is correct, ‘kan?
“Why stop?” ask Gerald in astonishment. “Continue, Hanna. I want to sleep.” The man closed his eyes, with a smile still available on his lips.
Hanna snorted amusedly, stopping her attempt to make Gerald dislike her. He chose to lean his back on the sofa, while folding his front chest hand. Showing how lazy he is to deal with Gerald.
“You don't have to go to work bes—“
“Ngak.” Hanna refused firmly. “I want to go to work. I like work.”
“Just work at home, Hanna.”
“No, bosenin.”
Gerald let out a long sigh, and Hanna secretly smiled proudly for making the man feel frustrated. “Ya. Keep your distance from the cashier.”
“He's my boss, Gerald. The polite one called him. Anyway, I'm on the inside, rarely interaction with Mr. Rayhan unless there is a need.”
“Cih, call ‘pak’. You just stop call me ‘mas’ now.”
Hanna was confused looking for an answer when her phone suddenly rang. He hastened to take it so that there is no need to give a reply to Gerald's insinuations.
“Halo?” greet Hanna.
“Hanna, it's me, Gladys.”
Hanna immediately smiled brightly hearing that.
“Try loud speaker, Han.” Gladys gave the order.
Hanna was confused, but immediately fulfilled the directive.
“Hanna, you want me to tell you Gerald's secret, don't you?” ask Gladys.
Hanna eagerly wanted to answer, but she had not said anything when her phone disappeared from hand, then ....
BRACKET!
It was already torn apart when it clashed hard with the floor. The perpetrator showed no guilt at all. It even looks very angry.
“Do not, ever, talk, same, Gladys!” pinta Gerald's full of emphasis.
Leaving Hanna who was still unable to stabilize her heartbeat from shock, as well as her sense of her current attitude towards Gerald.
Something happened .. Bad thing.
Seeing how hard Gerald was against Hanna meeting Gladys, this could have meant that.
The girl became very curious, and was moved to find out.
