After the absolute decision that Gerald said at breakfast, and the man's desire to move when he came home from work later that afternoon, Hanna was immediately approached by Salina in her room. The woman no longer hid the irritated expression on her face, and clearly made Hanna instantly look down full of guilt.
“So, you said same Gerald our plan?” salina asked, more precisely directly accusing the nephew.
Suddenly, Hanna immediately shook her head violently in response. Rejecting the accusation. He ventured to look at the aunt to make the other person confident in his honesty.
“Ngak, Aunt. I really didn't tell you anything about Mas Gerald. From the time I made breakfast until I finished breakfast I have never talked face to face with Mas Gerald, Auntie.”
Salina recalled, that Gerald had indeed come alone to the dining room this morning. It wasn't because Hanna called him. At that moment, Hanna was as busy as Salina in arranging breakfast at the dinner table.
So, they never actually talked to each other, let alone Hanna reporting to Gerald.
“But how can Gerald know our plan, son?” Salina is softening. He left the door that was originally the place to dominate the atmosphere, so Hanna had felt as if she was intimidated.
Salina enters the room, and sees how Hanna begins to arrange Gerald's clothes into the suitcase, just as her son had directed her earlier. Lazily, he also helped even by using a heavy movement so that four clothes were folded by Hanna, Salina just one.
“I also don't know, Auntie,” replied Hanna, honestly. His voice was very soft, afraid of mispronouncing.
“He also has no ability to read people's minds, so .. how can he know our plan?” Salina continued to discuss, questioning this puzzling thing.
“Or, Mas Gerald has actually been in the dining room for a long time, Auntie, we still make breakfast. So, she can catch everything?” Hanna asked in a doubtful voice at the end of the sentence, making Salina start nodding slowly and regularly, as if considering the niece's opinion.
This is the most reasonable answer.
“I guess,” answered Salina lethargic. He was no longer eager to fold his clothes to help his son-in-law. “So, how are ya, Hanna?”
The girl was silent after being asked that. The movement stopped too. Only Hanna's eyes moved to the left as if looking for an idea.
“Later, I try to keep trying tips from Aunt to make Mas Gerald uncomfortable with me.” Hanna assured with determination. “With no help from Auntie and Om, and me being super sweet to Mas Gerald, I'm pretty sure he'll get angry and fed up, and I'm sure, I'm sure, Mas Gerald can talk freely want to divorce me, because he is not really the same this marriage.”
Salina nodded while listening to Hanna's plan.
“Good too. Aunt support you, Hanna.” Salina smiled wryly, once again helping Hanna tidy up the clothes. This time more excited than ever. “Later Auntie will also try to ask her candidate Gerald to stop by occasionally to your house, so that Gerald can feel comfortable more quickly with the candidate.”
Hanna, who initially looked ordinary, is now frozen for a moment with an uncomfortable look leading to clothes in the suitcase. He tried not to show a change in his expression, and forced the girl's trembling hand to continue passing the contents of the closet to the suitcase.
“Name Kania. Later, you're acquaintances and friends, huh? He will be your family too if he can marry your cousin,” continued Salina. “You can exchange information about the position and state of Gerald while at home, and Kania can take advantage of the situation for PDKT. Good idea ‘kan, Hanna?”
The girl moved her head up and down very stiffly.
...🥀...
The process of moving their house went well, right after Gerald came home from work. The man even just say goodbye to Salina, then invite Hanna to go to a new home.
“Mas,” said Hanna when they were half way to the housing where their new residence was. “Kas suddenly invite me to move? I mean, how can it be that fast? In fact, he bought his house. Did you plan this?”
Hanna suddenly hesitated with her opinion this morning, that Gerald was listening to their chat. It could have been, this man had indeed from the beginning planned their move.
“Iya.” Gerald replied nonchalantly, while continuing to focus on the streets while Hanna tried to read every expression of the man.
But always failed. Gerald was barely legible.
“Have bought his house from lama?” ask Hanna again.
“Hu’um.”
“Plan to stay there with his wife Mas, yes?” And Hanna was sure, to be honest, she wasn't the one who should be in that place.
“Hm.”
Hanna now turned her eyes to the streets. Busy thinking about what his plans are starting tonight.
He will continue his job search, in order to pay debts to Gerald even though using the cicil line. Hanna will also continue to provide wide opportunities for women—which somehow form— named Kania to approach her husband.
However, why did the thought of that last thing make Hanna suddenly feel claustrophobic?
The girl was confused, making her repeatedly sigh long in order to reduce the burden of pressure in her chest.
Making Hanna immediately look surprised and confused.
Gerald did not say anything, and Hanna was also reluctant to refuse her husband's treatment. Although the girl was still unfamiliar with the foreign man's touch as well as the strange hard beat in her heart, Hanna remained silent. Quietly lowered his head, and saw his other fingers busy playing the decorative buttons from his robe.
Looks very nervous. Every now and then, the look caught Gerald's eye to glance at his wife for a second. Then, quietly pulling the corners of the lips formed a faint smile.
In this kind of silent and intense situation, Hanna had almost forgotten the status of a cousin between them. Her heart kept convincing itself, that the man was her husband—and it was so. However, Hanna continued to strengthen her consciousness, that this man was her cousin. Only cousin—yang even already has a candidate to marry.
Hanna must be self-aware. Don't let the feeling grow in the corner of his heart. So, he slowly removed Gerald's comfortable grip from his hand.
“I'm not comfortable.” Hanna said that with a trembling voice, very clearly lying.
Gerald seemed to have no objection to the rejection. Focus on the streets, and let the atmosphere between them end up quiet. Until they finally got home.
Hanna carried a bag containing her own smaller clothes, while Gerald was lifting the suitcase and several other bags.
“Hanna.” Gerald called. “Home lock is in my pocket. Take.” He put his body aside, as if thrusting one of his pants pocket.
“A—take it yourself, Mas—eh, Gerald.” Hanna answered nervously. His hands spontaneously clenched, as he stared at the direction his cousin was referring to.
“I males hands off. Both of my hands are full. Take it, or do we sleep on the porch tonight?” reply Gerald, this time more resolute than ever. When he saw Hanna about to argue again, he raised a sharp look at the girl, shrinking Hanna's courage, so that there was no other choice.
Hanna's hand started to advance doubtfully. Gently and carefully go into the pocket of her husband's pants, and start looking for the keys there.
“Not there, Mas.” Hanna reported, and hurriedly withdrew a hand.
“Try it here.” Gerald thrust out his other side, and Hanna increasingly objected.
Again, the girl had no choice. Hanna even had to hold her breath when she started putting her hands in the man's pocket, and immediately glared wide when she accidentally nudged something.
Hanna froze for a second. He briefly saw Gerald's faint thin smile back then, and hurriedly pulled the key from there.
“U—al!” hanna said firmly mixed in nervously.
“Open the door.” Gerald reigned again, and this time could be obeyed by Hanna easily.
The two entered, not forgetting to close the door again.
“You try to check the entire house first, so as to know what the condition is. Bag you put on top of this suitcase, let me take it up.” Gerald gave the instructions, and again was obeyed by Hanna.
The girl began to move into the house, while Gerald climbed the stairs with many bags full of clothes.
All the furniture and the condition of the house are carefully checked by Hanna. He found that the condition of this house is good, but it needs to be cleaned even more so that there is no dust left. So, he took the initiative to do just that.
However, just touching the broom handle that was indeed in the kitchen, Hanna was startled by a knock on the main door. He hurriedly ran there, and passed Gerald who was about to descend from the second floor. Hanna quickens the steps to open the door, while Gerald only listens from the stairs.
The main door is pulled by Hanna, and a woman appears in an elegant suit in the form of a soft violet blouse and plain black jeans. Her unraveling hair was surging gracefully, showing just how high her social status was.
“Iya, find who?” hanna asked curiously after judging the look of the woman.
“Not looking for anyone. I'm your neighbor, welcome.” The woman smiled warmly at Hanna, then at Gerald who was not chiming in at all. He thrust a bowl of food that was covered with Hanna. “Ordinary welcome, as a new neighbor.”
Hanna accepted it reluctantly, not forgetting to give her best smile. “Jeez, don't bother though, but ... thank you.”
“Sama-sama.” The woman replied with a warm smile. “Oh yes,” he thrust a hand at Hanna for introduction, “I Erkania Princess Sanjaya.”
Hanna's smile faded, as she heard one familiar noun from the woman's introduction. And it was made more clear when the woman added the introduction sentence.
“Commonly called Kania.”
Yep. Hanna is not wrong anymore. This woman is what Salina meant, as Gerald's future wife.
