Heart Darkness

Heart Darkness
Chapter 17 The Goat Bangs ....

***

"If something happens, push this 1 button. You'll be on your way to Dad."

Benn's father teaches Aruhi to use a cell phone to anticipate if danger threatens Aruhi.

"Well, Father .. " replied Aruhi obediently.

After the fire, Aruhi and Dad live in a new house near Durante Land. Father refuses Mr. Leon's offer to stay with them because Aruhi does not want Elgio to be hurt because of him. However, since Father was afraid that their whereabouts would be known to Mr and Mrs Diomanta, their residence was kept secret, including from Elgio.

Aruhi is moved and the atmosphere at the new school is different, even if certain things do not change. His name was changed, although that did not change the situation. He still remains ostracized or may be set aside because he does not want to be friends with other children. It doesn't matter to him as long as nothing bothers him.

"Since today, your name is Marya Corazon. You'll take off our family name but never forget that name, yeah! Because it's your Grandparents' name!"

"Why Dad? I've gotten used to Aruhi?"

Dad stroked Aruhi's fine hair.

"Darling, Aruhi is a beautiful name. However, full of sadness. You're not gonna use that name anymore. I've taken care of the paperwork and your name has been changed to Marya Corazon Aquino. This name is the name of a brave woman from the Philippines. Meaning strong, tenacious, and have a beautiful heart. Don't be mad at your mother but never trust her if you meet her one day."

"Where is Dad going?"

"Aruhi, I'm not going anywhere. I will always be by your side at all times. If you miss, you can call me anytime, yeah!"

Dad kissed and held Aruhi.

"Dad, I love you so much."

Jolted awake, Marya's tears have been inundated dripping pillows. He wriggled on a wormbed in a barren hot field without water, lamenting misfortune for misfortune. One time Dad was lying stiff with a face full of wounds and Aruhi was left alone, a kara on mortal earth. He called from the side of the coffin, observing one by one the mourners, hoping Dad would be tucked between them.

Aruhi remembers that day, when Dad didn't answer the call. Aunt Maribel came to pick me up and said Dad had gone to the sky, living in one of the brightest shining stars up there. Since then, I've never been seen again. How hard he cried, Dad never came back.

Marya pulled a small box from under the bed. He pulled out the old phone, activated it and dialed number 1. He waits. Connect to mail box. Not wanting to guess the weirdness.

"Dad ... Where is dad? I miss you, miss you so much. I was the first in school, but there was no Dad to see my grades. I'm so sad, Dad. Please be happy up there. That's all I can be strong for. Don't forget me, please, Dad."

Marya spoke on the phone of a flood of tears. He sobbed, biting his lips hard, resisting the heartache. Difficult to accept reinforcement about, "Lost but not really gone" or "Unseen does not mean destroyed". Marya just has to believe that. At certain moments he misses Dad very much, he will press the 1 button on the old phone which oddly still works well. He kept the antique well, only occasionally used to call Dad when his heart was too tired to miss.

Marya limped into the bathroom. He had to go out early in the morning after the day on which his kiss for Elgio Durante at the Broken Boulivard stop had created trouble. From that morning, Elgio became suspicious and waited at the bus stop the next day, leaving Marya unable to take the morning bus and on foot to school.

Marya out of the room. Aunt Maribel had already started working in the kitchen of the Pavilion mansion since early morning, preparing breakfast for the Durante residents. Glancing at Elgio's bedroom still pitch-black, he exhaled a bated breath.

"Yes, Lord .. I would love to meet and embrace Elgio Durante."

He saw Elgio last night at the bus stop, the man was waiting for him. Marya wanted to run at Elgio but she hesitated. So he peeked out from behind the Flamboyant and followed Elgio from behind as the man walked home. He admired Elgio's stunning silhouette and immediately hid behind a tree when Elgio looked suspiciously. Afraid caught. For the first time, Marya takes off her hoodie and secretly breaks loose on Elgio.

Marya began to pass through the fields of Murbei as usual. The morning was dim, the stars were still visible in the sky. He was almost at the back of the stop when a groan sounded in his ear. He dared to turn on the flashlight after a five-minute ride in the darkness and then approached a hole, at the source of the sound. Marya's afraid the light caught someone's attention in Durante Land.

Marya leaped back as the flashlight reflections fell right on the monstrous green-colored eyes.

"What's that?!"

Marya shuddered in horror. However, curiosity trumps fear because if not mistaken it is the moans of a dog. Marya turned the flashlight back. At the bottom of a hole a dog moves agitatedly, he paddles there expecting help. Apparently he fell in a trap hole made by Durante Land workers for hedgehogs that often damage plantations.

"Dilly?!" call Marya astonishment. Dilly yapped at him before he pawed. "What's going on?! I'll help you, but you can't bite me!" exclaim Marya.

He looked left-right, no one in the morning. Dilly yapped at him again.

"I can't help you if you're rude and attack me! Also don't yell at me! I saw you last night in the cage playing with Elgio, why were you here this morning? Did Elgio forget to lock your cage?"

Marya couldn't possibly stall her hand, the hole was too deep. So, he took off the school bag, pulled out the contents and stuck the bag out on Dilly. While Marya held the end of the backpack rope.

"You can bite and I'll pull you out! Come on, smart dog!"

The golden-haired Herder seemed to understand, he bit the lower end of Marya's bag strongly and Marya pulled him slowly. They failed the first attempt. Dilly climbing doubtful.

"Well, let's try again!"

The clever dog tried once more, biting Marya's bag hard and using her legs to climb out.

"Good! Little more! Come, Dilly. Ayooo!"

Marya managed to pull him out even though the front of Hoodie got dirty.

"Have your leg been hurt?"

Dilly barked angrily at the hole then moved away. The dog was waiting for Marya behind the Broken Boulivard stop. While Marya cleaned up Hoodie and re-entered the book. The end of the bag is torn. Nothing, he can sew later.

Street lights illuminate them. Maria kneels near Dilly.

"You okay? Are you hurt?"

One leg supports the body. He wanted to check on Herder without touching him. Suddenly the sound of someone's feet stepping quickly and hastily. Dilly wagging a happy tail. Marya stood surprised and turned 180 degrees. He took a few steps back to see the hoodie man coming at him with long steps. The man took off the hat, displayed a very handsome face sculpture. His clear voice was nervous.

"Hi, 'Goat's Party' .. You can't hide anymore."

The person approached directly hugging Marya very tightly.
