Chapter 6 - Meet Elara Elise

The next day, Verlin came out of the house with a bright feeling. “I leave,” he said as he left home for school.

He walked with light steps, while occasionally playing his cell phone. Curiosity makes him want to immediately see if there is a new message from Elara Elise.

Quickly, Verlin opened the messaging app and checked his inbox. However, there is no new message from Elara Elise.

"No new messages yet, yes," Verlin muttered with a flat face.

"Hm?" verlin said When he arrived at the school gate, his gaze was on Kayla who was standing there with a female friend. However, he decided to keep going, hoping not to get caught up in an unwanted situation.

"Wait for Verlin!" kayla said in a gasping voice, trying to catch up to Verlin who was a few steps ahead.

"I want to talk to you. I want us to understand each other's feelings" Kayla said with a serious look, trying to catch Verlin's attention.

Verlin had no intention of replying to her words he preferred to give Kayla a fake smile, trying to hide the complicated feelings within her.

However, before Verlin could continue his steps, another girl's voice spoke to him, "Oh, your name is Verlin huh? I'm Kayla's best friend, Adinda" Adinda said in a high tone, introducing herself firmly.

"But before that... What are you laughing at? Kayla It's serious" Adinda said angrily questioning Verlin's attitude.

Hearing Adinda's stern words, Verlin felt surprised. In his mind, he thought, "False smiles can't fool him, huh..."

Kayla, with a sad face and tears streaming down her cheeks, said, "The statement of love I told you is not a lie."

Holding back her cries, Kayla continued, "I know that a lot has happened, but it happened in the past, can't we look to the future?"

Kayla tries to change the mood with hope, "Come, we can watch a movie together. I'm sure it'll make you feel better."

"Geez, Kayla, you're a very nice girl! You're so cute!" adinda said joyfully, hugging Kayla tightly. After releasing a hug, Adinda stood before Verlin.

"And also... Who do you think you are?! I don't understand your thoughts at all. What happened in the past let it pass" Adinda said angrily, her expression full of dissatisfaction.

The sister continued, getting angrier, "Although first, you used to be violent and even tried to rape someone! But Kayla keeps saying that she likes you, you know?!"

In a burning voice, Adinda expressed her frustration, "False love statement? Are you crazy?!"

"Already, Adinda, I'm fine," Kayla said in a soft voice, trying to calm Adinda down.

Hearing that, Verlin felt confused. Not knowing whether this could be categorized as a favor or not. In the end, Verlin realizes that Kayla also did not try to refute the accusations Adinda made to him.

"Verlin, are you really okay? Your face looks pale" Kayla said with concern.

"Kayla, you're really a good girl compared to this guy" Adinda said in an annoyed tone.

Verlin felt the need to use a more assertive word than before in order to make him truly understand.

"Kayla-" said Verlin, who was stopped by hearing the voice of someone suddenly coming from behind.

"Hey, you're blocking the way!" that voice sounded sniffy.

"Ellia, why do you look so creepy?!" adinda said with a surprised face when she saw Ellia who looked angry.

"Hey, we're your friends, we didn't do anything at all!" adinda said in a soft tone, trying to ease Ellia's emotions.

"Friends? You have the guts to say that too!" ellia said angrily, responding to Adinda's words.

"You know, you-" Ellia's words came to a halt as Adinda interrupted.

"But we were very close! Oh, I know! How about the three of us go for a walk together!" adinda said enthusiastically.

"Hey, can you stop acting like such a delinquent? You see.." said Adinda, trying to express her point.

"I BELIEVE YOU!" adinda said firmly. Hearing this sentence, Verlin and Ellia's feelings became even more upset.

"Fuck-" said Ellia, then he tried to slap Adinda, but Verlin managed to catch her hand quickly.

"Sorry, Ellia, can you shut up?" verlin said calmly, then released Ellia's hand.

"Kayla, Adinda, have you ever been the target of baseless slander?" verlin asked in a serious tone.

"Have you ever tried to protect someone, but instead ended up being accused of something you didn't do?" verlin said with emotion.

"Have you ever been insulted by someone you love?" verlin continued, his voice sounded full of pain.

"Have you ever been betrayed by someone you trusted so much?" verlin added, her voice full of disappointment.

"Stop talking like you know everything, and you know absolutely nothing!" affirming Verlin, his expression reflected despair.

"So, please, leave me alone" Verlin pleaded with despair, bowing his body as a sign of a plea for abandonment.

"And it's too late to correct what has happened" Verlin said in a regretful voice.

"Aah, Kayla!" adinda exclaimed when she saw Kayla running while crying after hearing what Verlin said.

"...Hmph," hearing Verlin's stern sentence made Ellia turn her face to the side with a sense of annoyance clearly drawn on her face.

Then, after that they split up and went to their respective classes. Verlin, sitting in his place and immersed in reading his book. However, the presence of Ellia sitting beside him made his focus distract. Ellia looks so enthusiastic while playing her mobile phone, with a face that sparkles.

Verlin could not help but think, "Seeing from anywhere, it seems like he is reading a novel."

Seeing the excitement emanating from Ellia's face, Verlin began to imagine that Ellia must have really liked the story.

Ellia, drinking the water bottle on her desk, said excitedly, "Yup, alright!"

Verlin saw Ellia start writing something fiery. His typing was so fast that it amazed Verlin by his speed and dedication.

However, after a while, Verlin stopped paying attention to Ellia and switched to his cell phone. He opened the message and saw that there was no new message.

"There is no new message yet." Verlin murmured inwardly, feeling a little disappointed.

Though, inwardly, Verlin was actually very eager to know the opinion about the latest chapter he published yesterday.

"Hm?" Verlin felt the vibration from his phone, then immediately opened it to see what notifications were coming into his phone.

Apparently, the notification that came in was an email from someone named Elara Elise. Verlin immediately opened the email with mixed feelings.

The subject of the email was "I really liked the latest chapter" Verlin felt relieved and curious at once. He read the email with a heart.

"I finally had time to read it this morning! This latest chapter is very good ♡" Elara wrote in the email.

Verlin was delighted and smiled reading Elara's praise. But Elara also wrote something that made her feel a little embarrassed, "It feels a little embarrassing to use heart emotes because I never used them, but the story is indeed that good!"

Elara also shared the unpleasant experience she had that morning, but thanks to reading Verlin's latest chapter, she felt better. She ended her email with passion for the next chapter and signed it under the name "Elara Elise ♡."

"I'm glad he likes it" Verlin said in his heart. He pondered for a moment, considering whether he should immediately reply to the email or wait not to seem strange as if he was very much waiting for the message.

However, Verlin's spirit and desire to retaliate immediately grew stronger. He wanted to thank Elara and tell her of his plans to create a new chapter that was in the process of completion.

Verlin finally decided to reply to Elara's email right now. He wanted to express his appreciation and share a little information about his project.

"I'll thank him and tell him my plan to make a new chapter complete" Verlin said in his heart, with a cheerful spirit and joy in it.

Hearing the notification from Verlin's phone, Ellia immediately glanced at him. His eyes were fixed on the screen that was emitting a small light, attracting his attention.

"What?" ellia said, curiosity was clearly drawn on her face.

Verlin noticed Ellia's behavior that seemed busy typing the writing on her phone. He felt curious and asked inwardly, "What's wrong with her?"

Suddenly, a 'ping!' sound!' audible, indicating a new notification. Verlin sees the name of the sender: Elara Elise. The subject of the email raised curiosity in his mind, saying: "don't."

"Don't you? What does 'don't-don't' mean'?" verlin asked with a face of astonishment, trying to guess what the message was about.

After that, for no apparent reason, Ellia was suddenly startled. His face reddened and a surprised expression emanated clearly from his eyes.

"Aah!!" ellia said in a surprised voice, and that was when her phone fell out of her hand and fell to the floor. A light impact sound was heard when the gadget hit a hard surface.

"Hm?" verlin said in astonishment when he saw Ellia drop her phone. Ellia's face was flushed red when the phone fell upside down and Verlin accidentally saw an image appearing on top of the case. The image is of Ella Wise, a small owl-shaped mascot with both wings open.

Verlin's mind instantly floated, "Elar... Could it be Ellia Eleonara?" It is thought that Ellia used the nickname "Elara Elise" as a pseudonym in online communications.
