Laila's wish

A few months later. 

Laila and Gus Farid were sitting together on the front porch of Laila's house near the mosque this afternoon.

Gus Farid and Laila still seem to be having a serious conversation. I don't know what they're talking about this time. 

Laila looked at Gus Farid's face. 

"Gus, Laila please Gus. Gus do not marry Umi ya Gus," said Laila 

Gus Farid looked at Laila. 

"Laila, why are you talking like that?" ask Gus Farid. 

"I don't actually agree with Gus to marry Umi."

Gus Farid was shocked when he heard Laila's words. 

"You don't agree with my relationship with your Umi?"

"Yes Gus. Just cancel your wedding gus."

"What! canceled?"

"Yes Gus. Just cancel Gus' marriage to Umi. Gus is handsome and very young. Didn't Gus want to find a girl, a woman younger than Gus?" 

"But I can't have Laila annul this marriage."

"Why Gus? if Gus still wants to continue this marriage, Gus will hurt the hearts of others." 

Gus Farid was shocked when he heard Laila's words. 

"What do you mean?" gus Farid did not understand. 

"Gus, if Gus marries Umi, Gus will hurt the feelings of two people who love Umi."

"Two people who love your Umi? who?" ask Gus curiously. 

"Abi and Pade."

"What!"

"Yes Gus. Let Umi be happy with Laila's chosen man. And Laila had only two men of choice. If Umi does not want to refer again to Abi, Laila peg Umi married Pade."

Gus Farid swallowed his saliva. She is confused by Laila Amira's son. Why is it that after the wedding is near, Laila just talked to Gus about his disapproval. 

Which makes Gus Farid difficult to decide. If Laila had spoken before, perhaps Gus Farid would have considered marrying Amira again.

Gus Farid and Laila kept quiet. They seem to dissolve in their minds. 

I might cancel the wedding that one more week is about to take place. What people say later, what santri-santri said in the pesantren if I thwarted this marriage just because one person disagreed with this marriage. What would my extended family say at the boarding school if I failed to get married. What about the will of the late grandfather. I will definitely disappoint my late grandfather if I do not marry Amira, Inner Gus Farid. 

Gus, if Gus continues this marriage, Gus will also hurt Laila, because Laila loves Gus. Forgive Laila Gus, Laila shouldn't love Gus. Laila shouldn't have loved Laila's own future stepfather. But honestly, Gus is the first man who can make Laila fall in love, Laila's inner self.

So did Novi and Laila. They also like Gus Farid.

"Why didn't Gus choose Aunt Novi. He was obviously alone, young, and never married."

"Laila, that love doesn't have to have each other. Pade you will also understand. And he must have been sincere, I married your Umi."

"If Umi does not want to be with Pade, Laila also still hopes, Umi wants to refer to Abi again. At least, that's all that makes Laila happy."

Laila nodded sadly.

"But why are you just talking now Laila. After the wedding it was close. Why don't you talk about it all the time."

And Laila is also still the grandson of Mr. Husen. Surely the late kyai Hanafi will be happy to see Gus married to his grandson Pak Husen. And Laila is also very young Gus."

Gus Farid sighed deeply. He smiled, showing his white teeth. He felt funny with Laila's words. 

"Laila, you think marriage is just for fun. No Laila. Marriage is a sacred promise that will bind two people into what is called marriage. You're a kid, what do you talk like that for. And our ages are also much different Laila."

"Gus, I have graduated Junior High, I will soon be entering high school. Don't tell me I'm a kid again. Because I've grown up, Gus."

Gus Farid only shook his head after hearing all Laila's words. It seemed, Gus Farid did not want to mash up the words of the little boy. She will marry Amira. 

After Laila was tired of persuading Gus Farid, Laila finally left with a great sense of disappointment.  She is disappointed, as Gus Farid still insists on marrying her mother Amira . 

Laila thought, Gus wants to follow his ridiculous wish. But apparently, Gus did not want to mash up the words of Laila who looks stupid. 

Gus Farid still thinks Laila's words are a joke. But actually Laila's words have a point. If Gus Farid remains married to Amira, many hearts will be hurt and disappointed.
