Hugging Longs

Chapters. 41

Taking off the sunglasses perched on his pointy nose, framing his finely sculpted face, Danny looked at a two-story building that read Hilman Hadiwijaya Lawyer's Office.

This morning, when he got into his car, he accidentally found a business card belonging to Hilman. Which Hilman may have left behind. For he vaguely remembered when he was drunk, Hilman offered to meet him another day when he was in a better condition.

Danny didn't think he even had the intention to meet Hilman this morning. But Hilman's words that night were still ringing in his ears. Which caused his curiosity intentionally.

“Please wait a minute, yes, sir. Mr. Hilman is having a real guest. Because you didn't make an appointment in advance, so you are kindly to wait a while.” A woman at the reception said when Danny asked for permission to meet Hilman.

Danny tapped his fingertips on the reception desk. It looks like it can't wait.

“Can you tell him, there are important things I should talk to him about.” Danny insisted, asking to meet Hilman right then and there.

“Sorry once, Sir. Mr. Hilman has a guest. Please wait at the place provided. Please.” The receptionist said as she politely opened her right palm towards the guest chair.

Danny also looks upset, can only curse in his heart. He thought it could be that easy to see Hilman without having to make an appointment first. How foolish he was, why he could not think of it.

Not wanting to argue with the receptionist, Danny also chose to wait for a moment in the guest chair that was already available. While waiting, he opened the phone, surfing for a moment in cyberspace. Reading the news online seems to be an interesting option for him. It's good to get rid of the bosa taste while waiting for your turn.

....

While elsewhere. Still in the same morning.

“Please go and never return to this house.”

“Oma regrets ever knowing him.”

“Oma very disappointed. Oma thought she was a good woman. But it turns out Oma was wrong.”

“Padahan, Oma already considers him like Oma's own grandson. But why, Oma was even let down like this. Oma doesn't ask for much, Oma just wants to see Oma's grandchildren live happily.”

“With him gone from this house, it means that he no longer considers us his family anymore. Alright, then, Oma will also assume never to know him.”

“Please go.”

The words were spoken out loud from the oral Oma Widya. And still ringing clearly in Sara's ears, accompanying her departure. While groping the suitcase, Sara dragged her lethargic steps down the street pavement. He doesn't know where to go right now. He has no friends, friends, or close relatives to ask for help. It is a kara in this world.

Sara's heart was sliced when the shadow of Oma Widya was cast in the eye. She was saddened to think that Oma Widya had refused her apology. Oma Widya did not want to touch him, did not even want to see his face.

Arga has repeatedly said if he's willing to postpone the marriage until Sara and Danny are officially divorced. As long as Sara is serious about separating from Danny, Arga will be patiently waiting. But Sara refused. With the reason not to bother Arga.

Now, I don't know what Sara should do. There was no place in the world he could go to. I don't know where his footsteps will take him. While the sun up there started to blister.

....

“It's been over an hour I've been waiting. Please tell your boss, I'm Danny, want to see him now. Otherwise, I'll barge in.” Danny really ignited emotions when it was an hour more he waited, but never allowed to meet with Hilman. How he is not angry, while this is the longest record he can be patient waiting.

“Please, Sir. Mr. Hilman is waiting for you. Mr. Hilman's room is on the second floor. You just turn right, well, Mr. Hilman's room at the very end.” With a scared face the receptionist let her know after hanging up the phone.

Not wanting to waste any more time, Danny immediately went to the second floor. The building was not too spacious, so he could easily find Hilman Hadiwijaya's room. The lawyer trusts the late Jayadi, who Mayang has fired without him knowing why.

“Danny.” Hilman said hello, a little surprised to see Danny coming into his room. Hilman got up from his seat.

“Please. Sorry for keeping you waiting,” said Hilman.

Exhaling his rough breath, staring irritatedly at Hilman's face, Danny unbuttoned the top two of his shirt, then rolled his shirt arm to the limit of his elbow. As a sign that his patience has run out while he is waiting. He was greatly upset when his arrival seemed to be ignored.

Hilman smiled as soon as Danny stepped in, then took a seat in front of his desk.

“You are still the same as before,” continued Hilman while sitting in his chair. Hilman still memorizes Danny's habits. Who likes impatient, even easily the hardest emotions. Both traits are very different from the late Jayadi. You could say, Danny did not look like him at all. Both of Danny's traits are more similar to Mayang's.

Staking one leg, Danny then leaned back. He looked at Hilman who was smiling looking at him. His gaze then piqued, looking sharply at the look on Hilman's face. Smiling as if underestimating him.

“Who is actually Sara,” said Danny nailing his gaze at Hilman's two eyes. His eyes demanded an immediate answer.

“You want to know who Sara really is?” Acting relaxed, Hilman leaned his back.

“He's my younger brother or not.”

“According to you?” Hilman challenges Danny. It was as if he was inviting Danny to think and dig into his memories of the past.

Danny's forehead wrinkled. He tried to look at everything from a different side. If Sara is really her younger sister, then why her late father even betrothed them both. After all, it is possible that inbreeding is allowed in the world. Even in any part of the world, inbreeding is strongly opposed by law and religion.

“Do you never think why Mr. Jayadi is so dear to Sara. He even made Sarah his heir before he died. I think you can guess,” said Hilman trying to open Danny's mind. During this time Danny was consumed by the words of Mayang, his own mother.

“If Sara wasn't my sister, then who was she? Why did my father take her home when she was a child. Why didn't my father let him live in an orphanage.”

“Your mother never told you?”

Danny's forehead is getting wrinkled. His head was filled with all sorts of questions. Is Sara really the daughter of her father's mistress?

“What you have right now, which you took from Sara, it is indeed Sara's right. As the biological daughter of Mr. Jayadi. Mr. Jayadi has no other descendants besides Sara. So, the Venus Hotel, and all the assets that Mr. Jayadi left behind belonged to Sara. Including the house you currently occupy.”

Danny's curiosity was stirred. Hilman's explanation sounds ambiguous. If Sara really is Jayadi's real daughter, then who is she?

“Have no other descendants besides Sara? What do you mean?” Danny's getting tense. He was really made very curious. The memories of the past began to flash in his head. He remembered how his father loved Sarah as a child. There was nothing strange in his eyes at that moment. Just looks like his father is feeling sorry for an orphan. Not more.

“You still don't understand, Danny boy.” Hilman smiled again. He tidied up the tie, then cleared his throat for a moment. Before continuing the explanation.

“Danny, you are not Mr. Jayadi's biological child.”

Danny remained silent. His surprise left him shocked, speechless.
