I Inherited Fishing Bins in Canada

I Inherited Fishing Bins in Canada
Episode 4

When Shane Casson is dreaming of riding a luxury yacht, hitching a ride on beautiful women from different countries and dominating the world, someone wakes him up. When he opened his eyes, he saw Auerbach's imposing face.

Auerbach explains, "You need to adjust to the time difference, so you can't take a nap. Even if you feel tired, you have to hold it until night and sleep well. I swear to God that you will adapt to the Canadian time after."

Shane Casson scratched his head and smiled apologetically. "Mrs. Auerbach, I don't think it's necessary anymore, hehe. I, euhh. plan to sell this fish farm and bring cash back to my country."

"It's a shame, young man," Auerbach did not scorn him after hearing his words. Instead, he laughed, "It seems that you have not studied well your grandfather's will. In the will it was stated that fishery land could not be sold. If you keep insisting on selling it, the St. government. John's gonna forcibly acquire him!"

Suddenly, Shane Casson felt overwhelmed. Uncle Buyut, what joke are you playing? Do you really intend to pass on your legacy to your useless grandson? You should also see if your great-grandson has the ability and talent for it!

Auerbach gave him a fervor, "Come, young man. Your grandfather and I were close friends. He told me that he believed in your future and that you could make this fishing ground a super famous place all over the world. You can restore the glory of the Newfoundland fishery."

Shane Casson cried with a grim face, and negative words kept appearing in his mind: What's the point of him believing me?

"Come, we'll go to the tax office in the city first to confirm the tax you need to pay," finally Auerbach gave Shane Casson a heavy blow, let him know that there is no free lunch in this world, only hard work comes to fruition!

"What's? I still have to pay taxes? When I was in my home country, I already asked you, and you said that there is no inheritance tax in Canada!" shane Casson.

Auerbach laughed, "Yes, there is no inheritance tax in Canada, but there is a probate tax."

A probate tax refers to the fee charged for legal verification of a person's will after their death, which confirms the legal validity of the will in handling their wealth. Although a will recipient has the legal authority to handle wealth based on a will, verification by a court, an authorized institution, is usually required when moving assets such as investments and real estate, and verification of these costs money.

Auerbach told Shane Casson that the standard tax rate in Newfoundland and Labrador only applies to inheritances above 25,000 CAD. For every 1 million CAD, there is a tax of 14,000 CAD, for 2 million CAD the tax is 28,000 CAD, and so on. In other words, Shane Casson had to pay an inheritance tax of 520,000 CAD, which was equivalent to 5.8 billion rupiah.

Shane Casson got angry and shouted, "You lied to me!"

Auerbach said in a hoarse voice, "You can give up the management of this fishery, and you will receive a subsidy of 12.8% from the government. In other words, you can actually earn a lot of money."

"But" he said, turning the conversation around and looking at Shane Casson, "do you know how this fishery was established? It was your grandfather, a man of foreign origin, who produced it through his wisdom, perseverance, hard work, and vision, though many humbled and oppressed him! Young man, your grandfather is the most thumbs up person I've ever met! Do you understand what I mean? Don't tarnish the image of a man like that!"

Auerbach sat down next to him and said, "This tax has actually been in arrears for nine years. Although nine years late, no problem. Do you understand my point? You have enough time to make money from fishing!"

Shane Casson is not a coward. If there is still a chance, why not try as hard as you can?

The city's tax office is only open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, which surprises Auerbach. He asked and learned that the city was not doing well financially, and the government could not afford to pay their employees' salaries in full. Therefore, they had to reduce working hours to cut their pay.

Shane Casson comforted and sighed. Leaders in Canada seem to be struggling. This adds to concerns about the future of the farm.

Auerbach drove his old Ford car through town, introduced the area around to Shane Casson and tried to help him relax.

The car swerved until it reached a lake. The ice above the lake had just melted, and the water was clear like crystal, with several blocks of ice floating that shone like mirrors.

The view of the lake was beautiful, with green water plants, white ice blocks, and the occasional water bird flapping its wings and fish leaping out of the water. It was an amazing and full of diversity.

Auerbach introduced, "People just know that there are many lakes in Ontario, but there are actually quite a lot of them in Newfoundland as well. This small lake is called Treasure Lake, and many say that someone once drowned many treasures in it..."

"I really wanted to jump in and try to catch a fish" Shane Casson said in frustration.

Just then, a fishing boat approached slowly. A short, well-built middle-aged fisherman waved to Auerbach, "Hey, Mr. Skorman, did you and your friend come to shoot fish at Treasure Sink Lake? Come on, let's do it together."

Known for being a way to relax, Auerbach took Shane Casson aboard a fishing boat and introduced him to spearfishing, which has been popular in North America in recent years. "Come..oh, shit!"

Before he could finish his sentence, the fishing boat shocked a goldfish a meter long underwater. When the goldfish jumped in fear, the three people on the boat were shocked. Fishermen and Auerbach instinctively dodged, while Shane Casson stood foolishly at the stern and was carried by the fish's tail into the lake.

"Hurry up, save him!" auerbach exclaimed anxiously.
