20. Ales and Evia

A girl with blue hair and green irises was running around in a park. The little boy was about 10 years old.
Not far from where he was playing, he saw a cat under a tree.
"Cat!" The boy was happy to see the cat sleeping under the tree, he went to approach the cat.
The cat opened his eyes and saw the boy who approached him, he was frightened and ran into the forest.
"Wait!" The boy chased the cat that ran into the forest.
The cat stopped then looked at the boy sharply, he tried to scare the boy. The boy was not afraid, he approached the cat and gently rubbed his fur.
The cat stopped being alert. The cat jumped at the boy and the boy caught him. The boy rubbed the cat's fur gently.
The boy turned around and walked back to the park. On his way back, he saw a boy who was the same age as him, the boy wearing a shabby shirt.
The boy approached the boy.
"Hello, my name is Evia. What's yourname?" Ask a girl named Evia.
The boy saw Evia "Stay away from me." she stared intently at Evia.
The boy's stomach rang.
"You hungry?" Ask Evia.
"That's none of your business! Go there quickly!" Say the boy.
Evia didn't listen to her saying "Wait here yeah, I'll go get some food."
Evia ran to the park to get food.
"Wait on! I don't need it!" The boy tries to stop Evia, but Evia doesn't listen to him.
"What's wrong with her? Is he deaf?" The boy was annoyed by Evia's attitude.
Before long, Evia returned with two loaves of bread "Eat, you're hungry aren't you?" Evia gave two loaves of bread with a smile.
"I don't need–" The boy's stomach rang again, he held his stomach and fell silent.
"Eat." Evia smile.
The boy took the bread that Evia had given him and ate it greedily.
Evia sat next to the boy.
The boy saw the last piece of bread "You didn't poison me right?" Ask the boy suspiciously.
"No, why would I poison you?" Evia started to get upset with the boy.
The boy ate the last piece of bread.
"Thank you." Speak to the boy in a soft voice.
Evia was surprised "It turns out you still know thank you. You're welcome." Evia.
The boy was upset to hear Evia's words.
"By the way, what's your name?" Ask the boy.
"Don't I have said that? My name is Evia." Evia was upset.
"My name is Ales." Ales.
"Greetings, Ales." Evia smiled.
"But why are you here? Where are your parents?" Ask Evia.
Ales looked down "They were killed."
Evia was surprised by "Killed?"
"Ales, how about you come with me? You don't have a place to live, do you?" Evia smiled to calm Ales down.
That day, was the day that Ales and Evia met. Evia takes Ales back to her house.

"Dad, I met a child who had no place to live, his parents were murdered. Can he stay here with us?" Evia asked her father for permission.
Evia's father saw Ales.
'They can't accept me.' Thought Ales.
"Of course you can." Evia's father's speech made Ales surprised.
Evia was happy, she hugged her father "Thank you, dad!"
"Together." Said Evia's father.
Evia's father approached Ales "What's your name?" Ask Evia's father.
"A-Lice."
"Ales, just think of this as your own home." Evia's father smiled.
Ales was stunned for a moment, then he smiled "Thank you."
Ales becomes the adopted son of Marques Aerly's family, the Evia family. Ales did not use the surname Aerly as his surname.
Evia had lost her mother to an illness when she was 8 years old.
Ales and Evia grew up together like a big sister in general.
But, without the two of them noticing, Ales begins to like Evia.
Until one day, Evia is betrothed to the Crown Prince.
"Evia, father and Emperor intend to match you to the Crown Prince." Said Evia's father.
Ales was surprised to hear his foster father's words "Stupid? But, didn't the Crown Prince have married Princess Duke Jane 1 month ago?"
"Yes, Evia will become the Emperor's concubine.1 month later, on the day of the Crown Prince's coronation to Emperor. Evia will be announced as the Emperor's first concubine." Said Evia's father.
Ales was surprised, for some reason he felt sad.
"How's Evia, you agree, don't you?" Ask Evia's father.
"I'm..." Honestly speaking, Evia had liked the Crown Prince since they were still in the Magic Academy. But, she hid her feelings because the Crown Prince had already had a fiancee.
"I agree." Evia said, she can't hide her feelings anymore.
After Evia said those two words, Ales felt a feeling that he himself did not understand.
It was then that Ales realized, he had fallen in love with Evia.

The Crown Prince had now become the Emperor, and the Emperor had previously announced Evia as the Crown Prince's first concubine.
Ales looked at Evia, from Evia's eyes he could see that Evia was happy.
'As long as Evia is happy, that's enough for me.' Ales smiled softly.

"Dad, I want to be Evia's bodyguard." Ales.

As if knowing what Ales was thinking, Evia's father said "It was clearly visible in your eyes. When you look at Evia, your gaze is different from the gaze when you look at someone else."
Ales was surprised 'Did my feelings look that clear? Though I myself, only realized it at that time.'
"So, why do you want to be Evia's bodyguard?" Ask Evia's father.
"I want to protect Evia, I want Evia to be happy." Ales.
There was no doubt in his eyes, he said that with confidence.
Evia's father smiled "Alright, I'm counting on you. Please protect Evia, Ales."
"Good, dad." Ales.

"Personal bodyguard?" Evia said after hearing her servant's words.
"Yes, madam. Marques Aerly sent a personal bodyguard to protect you." Maid.
"When I said I didn't need it, why was Dad so stubborn?" Evia.
Ales opened the door "So you don't need me?" Ask Ales.
Evia surprised to see Ales "Ales? What are you doing here?"
Ales knelt "Greet His Majesty the first concubine. I am Ales Viorlan, from now on will be your personal bodyguard." Ales.
