Chapter 2 :
Shumi Mediane (Part 2)
Shumi was having her day as usual. His nightmare was quiet during his activities so that no one else knew it but his mother. As the king's daughter, she was known for her low profile. He was very easy to socialize and very concerned about the state of his people, both in the palace and outside the palace.
He is very famous, even arguably he is closer to society than the king. But, it does not mean that King Victor does not like his people, as the 9th king since the earth country was formed, he is the wisest king in the opinion of his people because as long as he occupied the throne, he was a wise king, there has never been a single rebellion or war. All the love of the royal family that only these three live.
The earth kingdom is one of the largest of the seven countries in existence and its inhabitants are humans who were born without the talent to master witchcraft. The capital of the country is Throttling City where Shumi and his two masters live today. The system of government of the earth country is run by dividing 9 provincial regions and each region is led by a duke who is a noble, except the capital city of Throttling which is led directly by the King. The power of the dukes also used a hereditary system. However, all matters concerning public policy, still regulated by the king. Including if the king considers there is a duke who can not work properly, then he has the right to replace it.
The Earth Kingdom is also well known and respected by other countries for its highly developed technology. Because of the limited ability possessed by humans, they are able to make sophisticated machining tools even if only using wood. Their mines were also quite good and exported weapons to other countries due to their great forging qualities. They also have weapons that are anti-magic, so that magicians who use immune magic can be killed with their weapons even without being coated with certain magic.
Aside from using the power of nature that was put to the best use, the humans also used various kinds of potions to be able to rival the power of the witches, in exchange for defense magic. Indeed, the Earth Kingdom was not a kingdom with the intelligence of making the best potions in the world, but the development of potions was quite rapid there, even the earth kingdom had a special military division of potion makers, and even the earth kingdom had a special military division of potion makers, and Shumi is one of the best members of that division.
Shumi, as the heir to the royal throne, had been very educated since childhood. Starting from statecraft, military, history, to martial arts he has been trained. He is very talented with it and always gives the results that his father wants. He was very good at making potions and he was very interested in the world of potions, even he had several times managed to create potions with new properties and was very useful for soldiers in the event of war.
However, even though he already had a lot of supplies and talent as a successor to the throne, he had absolutely no direct experience, even he had never gone out of the fortress of the Earth Country Capital.
King Victor and Queen Stephanie were very protective of their only child. They were worried that past events would get his daughter killed. In fact, Throttling City is a city that has not received witches at all even if only stopped. The king made a special settlement outside the city fortress near the southern gate, which was devoted to witches who simply passed by and stopped, even if there were other royal guests or nobles from among the witches, who were not involved, the meeting will be held outside the city.
The reality that happened to Shumi was quite boring, but he still carried out his father's wishes. He only knew that many enemies of the witch wanted his life and could be a big problem for the country if they did not have another heir to the throne. However, the knowledge he had of the outside world was very high even though he could only physically observe the surroundings of the city from the guard tower at the gate. He routinely does it once a week, including today.
Shumi was watching the view on the north gate watchtower with permanently attached binoculars, surveillance binoculars. The expanse of vast grasslands, merging with the jungle forest, then seen a hill that looks small because of the distance is quite far. He knew that, behind the hill, there was a small town that was considered sacred by all the inhabitants of the world. The city which is the center of the world, the place where all the compass needles will always lead to it, the place which is believed to be the starting point of the created world, is, the place where the axis of rotation by the sun and moon rotates at all times, the city is sometimes day and always night for a week. Shumi was eager to visit her.
“Sorry I'm late, Princess!” suddenly there was the sound of the footsteps of iron shoes running down the stairs. Shumi stopped using her binoculars and turned her body towards the sound. He signaled for two guards about five meters away from him to leave and they immediately enforced his order. They immediately went down the stairs when a man who spoke earlier reached that place.
“I'm sorry, Princess Shumi!” he again seemed to still try to regulate his breath that was a little breathless. The man was wearing a metal armor but without a helmet so his short brown hair was visible and slightly wet with sweat. His face was handsome and he had a bright tan complexion, as bright as his light brown eyes. He paid respect to Shumi.
Shumi smiled. “Zain Mamoruntu, son of the chief commander of the honorable earth kingdom, best warrior candidate from the best of this kingdom!” shumi said a little loudly bluffing.
“I, your majesty!” reply Zain strapping.
Shumi suddenly laughed out loud. He held her stomach because he tried to stop her laughter. Zain felt a little embarrassed and after a few seconds, he also laughed.
“You.. you are always like that, Zain, hahaha,” Shumi said with a laugh. “I will have given you a special order not to be as formal as it was when faced with me,” he continued until finally he and Zain stopped laughing.
They're facing each other. “You're stupid huh? You are my best friend since childhood, if you really respect me, I beg you, treat me as your best friend,” continued Shumi.
“I'm sorry, Shumi!” zain said with a big smile, “I'm just afraid this time you're angry because I'm again late.”
“No, Zain, I'm not angry,” cut Shumi, “already, now that you're here, how did you practice today? Any new news?” he asked as he slowly turned his body and avoided both palms to the boundary wall of the Tower which was only as high as his stomach. He looked back at the forest far ahead of him.
“Yes, that is, to master the breathing technique is not an easy thing,” replied Zain, “but I will master all these techniques until the ultimate movement of the father becomes my mainstay movement also someday, but I will master all these techniques,” he added while looking at the sky.
Shumi smiled back. “I'm sure you can make it happen, even surpass it,”. “Today is the first day in the middle of the year and will be the beginning where the night will be longer than the day for the next six months" he said.
Zain was listening.
"I heard, there are gangs of robbers who interfere with the security of the southern earth province and it turns out they are a big group huh? Does this include rebellion?”
“That caused early this morning, His Majesty the King called us,” replied Zain and stood to the left of Shumi and did the same with him, “deputy Bumi Selatan asks the main army of the kingdom to settle it. But they are purely criminal, they have no desire to control or coup the area, we will finish it when the information we are looking for is successfully obtained.”
“Your format is very much yes, Princess!” joking Zain smiled, “ini is still a secret, but according to royal intel, they are very organized. Their target is also not ordinary traders. They're better suited to being called mafia gangs.”
“Dan, what division will there be?”
“The sword division that will be there along with several assassin troops,” replied Zain, “ and I am entrusted to lead that army.”
This time Shumi was a little surprised and turned to Zain. “Your toughest task?” he looked at Zain.
“My first, more precisely,” continued Zain stared back at Shumi, “and will be the success of my first high-level mission,”.
“I will lose my best friend for quite a long time, huh?” ledek Shumi, “plus night will be longer, will be very boring.” After a few seconds, he and Zain chuckled.
“I promise it will not be more than a month, princess,” reply Zain is literate, “ini travel problems only, we are not allowed to use the Buroq fleet to get there, so, worried enemies knowing the main army of the kingdom will be present there.”
Shumi was surprised back, “Your father made you unable to travel quickly huh? It will take two to three weeks to get there huh?”
Zain replied, “ya, it will take twice as much time as usual. Bumi Selatan is the farthest province from here, plus we have to pretend as ordinary traders.”
Shumi laughed a little.
"But I can work around that,” concluded Zain.
They continued to talk about what they were doing that day. They meet every day in their busy lives. Sometimes in the morning, sometimes during the day, and often in the late afternoon. They rarely meet at night unless there is an official royal event. This was due to the protocol of a king's daughter and the duties of Zain who now served as one of the captains in the royal military forces.
Their conversation ended shortly before they parted ways after walking together towards the palace. Shumi tells Zain of his nightmares and surprises him, but Zain tries to calm Shumi down and thinks that coincidences can happen only twice and there will be no third time.
In the meantime, Zain's words have a point, although reality does not allow unilateral speculation to be true. Shumi Mediane, looking back at what she shouldn't have known.
Just two nights after Shumi told him about his nightmares about Pluto and his Solomon Ring, he again dreamed of a very real event he witnessed. It was as if he really existed when the events in his dream were described.
He saw clearly a young woman pale white as snow, long-haired silvery-white, beautiful-eyed bright light green, and, she was giving birth to two baby girls who were born in quick succession and were helped by a middle-aged woman who was slightly fat, short black-haired and tan-skinned but bright.
He also saw a handsome man with a sharp nose calling the snow woman like a husband who loved his wife so much and for the first time he saw the healing magic was very real.
She saw how they separated after the woman who had just given birth had gone with a horse and had one of her babies in the rain and then she kept going until she was swallowed up by the jungle.
He also witnessed the assault magic launched by the woman's husband to a group of dark hooded people who came threatening.
Shumi felt an incredible sense of amazement, sadness and fear at the same time. He was amazed that he could finally see how the witches fought, he was saddened to see how a married couple who should be very happy because of the birth of their two daughters but instead had to separate like that, and he was terrified because, for the first time, he saw how a person died from receiving magic that was waged so many times that the person was helpless.
Yes, a man Shumi knew his name when his wife gave him a farewell kiss, lying stiff on wet ground in rainwater. The moment Shumi wanted to shout, he returned to his sleep.
