^^^‘You stupid blind pig map, look where are you now?!’^^^
Elliot’s POV
My breath was puffing as Davis finally stopped running in front of me. I bent down and held my knees, trying to calm myself down when my whole body was burning as it ran around the city map at that time. I came back as promised, at 5 p.m. But…
“Ah, shit! I told you we should hurry!”
“I didn't think he'd be missing, okay?! I thought he'd go back to the city map like a typical—“
Pulling on my shirt collar shocked me, Davis's face looked a dead red. “I told you not to leave him alone! He has a problem with his memory! Didn't I warn you about that?!”
His message was implied again in my memory. When he gave the party message to me and the girl this morning, he also gave me a private message.
‘Don't leave Myra alone. He has memory problems.’
‘Almost let it die.’
‘I'll kill you if he dies.’
I tried to untie his tight grip on my collar and said, “Davis, calm down. We'll find him, okay?”
But I also still don't understand the situation. Why would Davis go berserk just because of this? Also what makes me most inexhaustible is why is the girl undetectable by the map? I couldn't even find her on the map when she was online and on my friend list. It feels useless. Why do they have such strange eye colors? Why would…
Why is he now wearing a strange rabbit-eared hat?
“Davis. View, Myra—“
“Where?!”
I pointed at the strangely hated girl so that Davis who was holding my collar looked at her, and slowly the grip loosened.
“Lav?” Slowly the wrinkled face subsided. “Lav!” He ran and I decided to follow him, trying to ignore the oddity of the name for him.
When Lav, ah, I mean Myra was not far away and just a few steps away from us, Davis's pace slowed down until he came to a halt halfway through. He hesitated to approach her. I looked back at the girl, noticing her strange behavior.
He held two apples in both hands, his legs swinging in turns and he seemed to be talking to a mother who seemed to be a merchant at the store. Surprisingly, Myra who was sitting next to the apple merchandise was too cool with the two apples she was holding, playing them like a child and occasionally laughing. The two rabbit ears of the hat he wore slightly shriveled each time he laughed. Then the thing that makes us even more astonished is that the merchant who suddenly embraced Myra who was excited, his tiny face was visible from the merchant's shoulder.
His ruby-red eyes accidentally met mine. I looked back, but he suddenly smiled, the same smile he showed when I first saw him at the bar. Ah, crazy. That girl is crazy.
“There's a weird. Come fast,” Davis said. I nodded and followed him who was walking towards the merchant.
“Excuse me, ma'am,” greet Davis, but his silver eyes can not be separated from Myra.
“Yes, young master? What can I do for you on this sunny day?” The NPC's speech sounded very distinctive, his cheeks raised forming several frown lines under his eyes as he smiled.
Davis rubbed the tip of his nose, which he did not realize was always done when he was nervous. “I am, uh, I.. looking for this girl,” she said as she slightly nodded her head towards the girl she was referring to, who was still playing two apples and now foolishly raised her high while giggling. I tried not to look at him, but I just wanted to make sure, did he really not recognize us? Because from then on he said nothing. He looks like a stranger.
“Crue? We finally found it!”
“Iya. End— ha? Whahuh? We?”
Davis looked at me and I just shrugged my shoulders, I didn't even understand what was going on. “True, my son was missing not long ago. How many people are trying to find him. But he finally came back!” The woman was very happy to tell him that, making Davis' jaw hang in disbelief.
I nudged Davis to get his attention, but he just fell silent petrified. Then I decided to pull his arm a little bit away from there. “Davis, what happened? Her mom? So all this time Myra was an NPC?”
“Tsk. It's not like that. I think someone's playing with his memory,” Davis whispered. “And it's all your fault,” he added which I almost answered with an argument but he held my shoulder closer, making me stop. “Listen. We need to find out as soon as possible what happened.”
“But how? You see for yourself he does not even recognize us,” I replied, in a high tone but still whispering. We slightly glanced back, staring at Myra from each of our shoulders. When Davis returned to his position, my eyes accidentally crossed with two soldiers watching us from a distance.
Two men were discussing while staring at a girl.
Sure, not very suspicious at all.
“Dave, I think we should stop. People started to suspect,” I finally said it to make myself a little relieved.
“You're too overthinking for a man's size. Now listen to my plan.”
---
“YOU CRAZY?!”
I who ran with difficulty for carrying Myra on my lap screamed like a possessed person for willingly agreeing with the plan of a madman who was currently running faster in front of me.
“Can't you go any faster?!”
“AAARGH!”
I need to admit Myra's body is very small, but I don't know what makes me so hard to carry it. Is it because I haven't been to the gym in a long time? Or because he was asleep? Or because I took it while running? Why could I think so much when I was running away from the 5 soldiers chasing us?
When Davis turned towards the narrow alley, I who followed him was unable to continue running because the back of my body directly hit the wall. I slowly sat down with Myra on my lap.
“Huff... can't.. I can't anymore,” I said with an irregular breath.
The panting Davis rubbed his face, “Jeez, that's right.” Then he approached, pulled Myra's body and placed it on her shoulder like she was carrying a sack.
“You pull them north, I'll go west. If you can, overcome them,” Davis ordered, which I answered with a short nod and I hurried back to take the line to find the soldiers who were certainly coming towards me.
When they found my face in the middle of the city, I pulled them in the other direction and certainly away from Davis who had taken Myra. While running, I opened my left palm to light my shadow fire, the clairvoyant was automatically activated. When I was about to reach the end of the map which I believed was the northern part, slowly a memory suddenly appeared in my head.
Two arrows shot out, hitting my right shoulder and left ear.
The end of the map was always empty, it made me relieved that I didn't find Davis and Myra anywhere. That means I took the right path. To deal with the soldiers before they went to the next map, I turned my body, along with the arrival of the two arrows I had expected to shoot. I raised my hand, along with the magic chant.
|Charism: Telekinesis.•|
The two arrows stopped in front of me, then I controlled them to turn around, one pierced through the head and another pierced through the chest of the soldier in front of me. Two fell, three left. Two carried swords, one carried a spear.
I guess I can still hit—
My eyes opened wide as the clairvoyant activated itself, revealing me that there would be three daggers coming from behind me.
I lowered my head, just as three daggers wrapped in purple-colored flame shadow passed through my head. At least I'm late, those three daggers will pierce my head. But fortunately not, the three of them attacked the three soldiers who had been running towards me.
“You crazy? You almost killed me!”
Davis massaged his forehead, his face shriveled in annoyance not making me back from glaring at him.
“You stupid pig blind map, look now where are you?!”
I raise my eyebrows, my blood rises because his voice calls me a stupid pig. But I saw a gate not far from us giving a hint that this is the west gate. Slightly cursing inwardly, frustratingly combing my hair back, I glanced at Myra with her stupid hat still unconscious lying behind Davis.
“Still unfinished, take Myra to safety,” Davis ran over, it turns out there was still one soldier who managed to block the dagger attack Davis. But the clairvoyant was active again, showing a rain of arrows falling right over our heads, coming from the many soldiers who suddenly appeared on the roof of the building next to us.
“No use, we have to get out of here now.”
Davis made no comment, indicating that he believed in me. The rain of arrows that none of us hit because of our fast enough run away from their reach is proof of my clairvoyant.
Myra was picked up again by Davis, and we went through the portal to the next map.
...****************...
“They didn't chase us until here.”
Lies. That's a short reason we stop running. My legs are no longer able to support myself. I still don't understand how Davis can take Myra while running without seeming difficulty. But when he turned around, I found his face shriveled and reddened with exhaustion, his breathing unruffled.
“You sure?”
I just answered with a nod. My esophagus felt very dry, only realized that after the wind blew, through the trees where we were farming in the morning before. I sat down beside the big tree where Davis slowly put Myra's body in a sitting position, the two rabbit ears of the hat came down with Myra's head.
Just passing a few trees from the portal was a bit risky, but I don't care anymore. I pulled two bottles of minerals from my floating panel, I threw one at Davis.
“Ah, I entrust him to you and see what happens,” Davis said as he wiped his lips after sipping the mineral water I gave him earlier.
I tugged at my collar to generate the wind, “I still don't understand. What's problem? And what happened to him?”
Davis seemed to be thinking hard, his eyes staring deep into the vast grassland before us. The sun was about to set, its light covering the entire prairie, making it sink into a sea of orange color.
I heard Davis take a deep breath and take it out of his mouth before saying, “She..”.
I opened my ears wide, the empty drinking bottle on my lap did not provide enough satisfaction from the thirst of my curiosity for what had happened.
“Mmmngh.
Davis with both of his eyebrows that rose to look at Myra, as well as myself who was no less shocked. Myra yawned as she rubbed her eyes, after which she leaned her head against the big tree behind her. The two half-sleepy eyes looked at the two of us for a moment, then slowly his face wrinkled showing fear.
“S-who are you?”
I really don't understand, he still doesn't recognize us. I looked at Davis who calmly opened the panel, while Myra hugged her legs with her whole body that seemed to start shaking, even the rabbit hat she was wearing shook.
“Hold him.”
I think I heard it wrong, but after I made sure by glancing at it, Davis did say it. He looked ready with an injection that he did not know when he got in his left hand.
Davis ignored me staring at him in confusion, then I slowly approached Myra who was now burying half of her face on the knee she was hugging. “J-don't come near!”
His order now sounded like it was begging while slightly moving away from us, making me hesitate a little.
“Elliot. Fast.”
Davis's stern voice surprised me, leaving me no choice but to hold onto Myra's two shoulders, who started to move around unceremoniously trying to break away. Now tears well up in both of his ruby eyes.
“Please! Give me back to my mom! What do you guys want? Please! I— Ak!“
The cry was stopped and replaced by a small groan when Davis injected the object into Myra's arm. His whole body was tense, his eyes were wide open so I could see his pupils dilating. Then slowly his entire body squeezed, along with his two ruby eyes again closed.
I was breathing again, not realising I was holding it back. I removed her body, but I prevented her from falling off the ground by holding her side. Soon he regained his senses while holding his head and hissing in pain. “Tsk. What happened?” Myra rubbed her cheek, looking astonished when she found it wet from tears earlier.
Then he glanced at me who was crouching very close to him, I saw his face that now looks ordinary, “Elliot? What are you doing here?”
I decided to move a little further away when Davis' hand could feel me landing on my shoulder.
“You have to explain. What the hell's going on? What stupid hat is that?”
Two blinks of eyes and a confused face that is now familiar to me indicate that he does not remember what has happened. But after a moment of thought, he then pulled his lips down, showing an annoyed face.
“You! And you!” Myra pointed at us taking turns. “You just left me with that giant bear! You don't know how hard it is to fight that bear! Jesus, I must die for it.”
Davis chuckled, now leaning against the tree with both hands that he had folded behind his head. The tension on his shoulders is now slowly disappearing. “Heh, I also did not know there would be maintenance today. There should be Elliot there with you.”
I was struck by it, especially when Myra now turned to me with a deathly gaze. The two rabbit ears of the hat were now standing upright. “Hey, I-I didn't know it would be like this either, okay? I thought you were strong enough to fight the bear,” I put both my hands in front of me, trying to prevent any explosions that would occur. “T-good hat. Where'd you get it?” I tried to distract him, though I'm sure it can't be that easy.
But unexpectedly, Myra blinked a few times, her eyes staring in different directions, seemingly thinking hard as if realizing something. He took out the hat he was wearing, and he said, “Hey, Davis, Elliot. You remember the mother I accidentally hit to fall?”
I put both my hands down, and now I turn to ask, “You mean your mother?”
“Ha?”
“He's right, your mother pfft.”
Davis added with a laugh, but it only added to the wrinkles appearing on Myra's forehead.
Until finally after a moment of hard thinking, a smile appeared on his lips, as if he found the answer from what he thought.
“I don't know what you're talking about. But it looks like we should go back to the city.”
“Ha? For what?”
“We haven't taken our gift.”
