"Mom, next week my cesar's surgery schedule. Pray for us, ma'am" Marissa told her mother by phone.
"Huh? Cesar's operation? Next sunday? Are you serious, son? B-but why cesar?" ask Dian to panic.
"Yes, Mom. Doctor said one of my baby positions was breech. Pray for us, yes. Let the operation go smoothly, the twins were born healthy without anything less, so did Marissa," he said.
"Of course, son. I will definitely wish you all the best."
"Thank you, Mom."
After Marissa decided on her call, Dian put her phone back on the nightstand with an anxious face. Riyadh showed Dian's expression then pulled the woman to lie down next to him.
"Why you?" riyadh asked as she gently stroked Dian's face and then placed a warm kiss on the woman's cheek.
"Marissa, Honey. He said next week was his scheduled cesarean section. I was scared when I heard it. May Marissa and our two grandchildren be born safe, healthy and nothing less" Dian said, hugging Riyadh.
"Operation cesar?" riyadh asked with eyebrows that were clinging to each other.
"Yes, operation cesar. Doctor said one of Marissa's baby positions is breech."
"Oh. But why didn't Marcello tell me? Did he forget or did he not want to tell me about it?"
"Come," answered Dian.
. . .
A few days before Marissa's scheduled surgery, the couple was busy preparing for everything. Starting from the needs of Marissa and also her babies.
That thrilling day has arrived. Marissa was lying on the patient's bed. Marcello's face was pale. This was the most stressful moment in his life history. How not, this is the first time Marcello has to face a situation where the wife will bet their lives for their children.
"Marissa, I'm nervous." Marcello clasped Marissa's hand tightly while looking at her face.
Marissa chuckled softly as she returned Marcello's grasp. "I should be the one who's nervous, Dad. Not Daddy" said Marissa.
"Let's see, my feelings are mixed, Cha. There was joy, fear, anxiety and everything mixed into one."
Just then the medical team arrived at Marissa's room. They approach Marissa's bed and prepare to take her to the operating room.
"Keep it, you'll make it, baby!" said Dian who has been in that room since.
"Thank you, Mom."
"Spirit!!!" reply Marissa while throwing her warm smile.
Marcello didn't say another word. In his heart, however, there was a prayer for the safety of his wife and two babies. Marcello clasped Marissa's hand tightly as she followed the nurses who were now pushing her little wife into the operating room.
Upon arriving in the room, Marcello let go of his hand.
"I'll stay here, Cha. Believe me," said Marcello.
"Yes, Daddy. I trust you," replied Marissa before she was brought in by the medical team into the room.
"Oh my God, save my wife and children" Marcello murmured as he rubbed his face.
Patiently, Marcello waited outside the room with his extended family. There is Dian and Riyadh, there is Joe and Sofia, and Zaid who does not want to be left behind. He was already impatient to see his little bangs that would enliven his extended family.
Seconds pass into minutes and minutes turn into hours. Finally the most awaited thing arrived. The door of the room opened and a Doctor was smiling warmly at them.
"Congratulations, Sir. The operation went well. Both of your babies were born healthy without any lack of anything."
The doctor's speech made the entire Marcello family grateful. They were so happy to hear the good news. Moreover, Marcello, the man even to the point of tears.
"really that? My babies are okay, Doc?" marcello asked enthusiastically.
The doctor nodded his head slowly. "Yes, Sir. They're healthy without anything less, so is Miss Marissa."
"You heard that, my in-laws!? Both my babies are healthy and the words Obstetrician were wrong!" marcello exclaimed to Riyadh who was also no less happy.
"Yes, Marcello. We are happy to hear it." Riyadh patted his best friend's shoulder with teary eyes.
Dian hugged Riyadh's body tightly while sobbing. He was really moved because finally his two grandchildren were born safely. Same with Joe and Sofia. They were also happy to hear the news.
Not long after, the doctor also allowed them to meet the two babies of the male sex. Marcello was so happy when she welcomed one of the babies that the Doctor told her as her brother. The other baby was welcomed by Dian.
"Yes, God! Our granddaughter is so handsome, Opa!" dian told Riyadh.
Riyadh smiled wryly. "Yes, Oma. Our grandchildren are handsome. Huft, it's finally our turn to be called Oma and Opa" Riyadh said.
(Sorry, late up 🙏)
